Welcome to the 2021 edition of Firethorn Legends Cup! The course of choice is slightly different this year! Fruitland Farms GC is a course now fully made for the community, by the community of TGC tours and every year will evolve and change based upon suggestions made by your lovely designers and should be a uniquely different course every year! The designer had this to say about this course: "This is a community-inspired restoration/renovation of the Course Down South. It's a combination of original 1934 concepts, some recognizable elements of the modern course, and the occasional entirely new concept. From an overall perspective, the course is meant to be more cohesive by making bunker designs and sizes a little more consistent, and fairways have been restored closer to original sizes, also resulting in plenty of tree thinning and opened up sightlines across the course." Fruitland Farms GC 2021 this year sports 4 unique tees paired with each pin so expect each round to play a bit different than the last! Expect a tough test this week!

The adventure I took on #8 had me in parts of the grounds I didn’t know existed. I hit a tree square on with my 3 wood on second shot and it shot like 80 yards directly left. When it finally landed I had no idea where I was, directly surrounded by trees and shrubs. It took me like 4 shots to even get back to the hole. I didn’t get much further before I called it quits 😂

Certainly a different course. Loved the little changes and the thought taken for tee and pin placements.
This medium player dusted of his perfect clubs to see how far behind the ‘better’ players he is now after a 8-10 week hiatus.
-13 at the turn. No disasters but a few too many tentative putts.

-12 start for me, very up and down round with some greatness - 3 eagles, a few short putt lip outs and a really bad bogey on 16.
Overall averages out nicely to better than average round.

Really enjoying the changes. 15 is so much better with the shaved bank, will be real squeaky bum time down the stretch.
-22 halfway.

Below will be the highlight of my tournament. I started slow in R1, being even through 5 didn't give me good vibes but I was able to right the ship and get through the first 2 rounds at -18, helped by several eagles. Then, R3 was definitely not good (First bogeys of the event, finished -5) but had a solid -10 in the final round, helped by the shot I have on video.
-33 for the first major is pretty respectable. While there are definitely aspects that need to be ironed out, I appreciated my rounds at Fruitland Farms GC.

2 putts into water on 15. Pretty ridiculous. There goes my tournament.

Rd 1 -2 Rd 2 -5 -7 at the cut. More of the same for me. Hanging onto this game by a thread boys.

-4 in R1 with some shoddy wind adjustment play. -7 in R2 and bogey free so at least I feel a bit better with my MC. Had 2-3 fast approaches that may have cost me a nice birdie look, though. Ah well...
Edit: Had nice birdie putts on #14 in R1 and then on #11 in R2, so my putting pace/tempo adjustment is an uneven but slow journey forward. Some of the longer 2-putt lags for par in R2 were encouraging.
-11 will be a clear MC but safe from the demotion marks. This might be most of my rounds for the rest of the season, but someone has to be the fodder that props up the mid to top end of this tour, right?
Good luck to all with rounds yet to play and/or to finish!
Enjoyed the course.

Hello. Cecil Harvey I'll happily join you if you don't mind. There should be enough room for both of us in that area of the leaderboard, so we can both make ourselves comfortable without impeding each other too much. I think I wrote this already somewhere recently, but I belong to those that don't get too excited about this particular week. I like easy (boring) CC and Kinetic courses the most, so this course is pretty far off my personal taste. Overall, I'm happy with my score. The slow start in R1 is because of me not warming up enough beforehand due to time constraints (I'm too stubborn to not be playing my Plat rounds on a Monday). After that, I managed to put together two fine and pleasantly unspectacular rounds. Scoring went a little south towards the end, as my tempo went to bed earlier than me. Cheers and good luck all!

Fair assessment and I respect your opinion of this event. This is my favorite event of the year even if it is a new paradigm, so it is curious that we have our opposing opinions, yet we end up in the same place on the leaderboard, even if it speaks moreso to our (definitely to my) level of play.
