Well I'm done...cooked...the fork still in my back. The lovely course that gave me a morsel of hope in Rd 1 turned into the Land of Woe. All I had to do is shoot +5 or better, but Nooo!, I shot +14. The pin locations were at best nasty, unforgiving. Started off with a bogey. "Shake it off" I tell myself. #2 bogey, and I hear the "Fat Lady" warming up in the gallery.
Then, goodness in my swing produced a sweet shot leaving 10 ft for a birdie on the Par 3 3rd hole, the gallery went wild. I arrived on the green to see that I was facing a daunting putt with a severe slope. I five putted that damn thing leaving with a bitter triple bogey. Had to eat another crap sandwich and The Fat Lady was no longer merely warming up but bellowing out in a high soprano pitch.
On and on it went. Bad tempo, bad decisions, piss poor putting. One forgotten hole had me hitting a drive which paralleled the creek on the left. I could hear a yell from the gallery, "Sweet Booby Jones, Nooo!", but on further reflection it was me yelling at the TV screen, while on bended knees as I splashed perfectly into the creek. I was so bad that I ventured to he dark side and drove for the infamous/intentional Red Fast only to be rewarded with a wayward tee shot in to the rough that was so unforgiving that I had to play a safety shot of 100 yards out to get back to a parallel portion of the fairway...settled for bogey on that ill advised venture.
The Xbox gods rewarded me, or taunted, with a chip out on the par 5 for a birdie...too little, too late, and irrelevant to the outcome. To add further insult, I was denied a humble par on the 18th. The putt slithered by the hole by a nano pixel forcing me to eat another bogey.
As I packed up my bags to make the long trek to Orion Ranch, I looked back to the main entrance to Fulton County with a sign stating "Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here." I looked back again and the sign had vanished.
On to the next and as always good luck to all that make their respective cuts.

-9 third round for me, could have been double figures but as usual I had to stuff up a hole and ruin it yet again. At least the tempo behaved itself this time

Never had this happen before...hit it in creek on left on 11, and I’m stuck! Can’t take unplayable or anything. It’s just stuck with the ball sitting in the water and I can’t do anything. Am I missing something, or am I totally out of luck? Too bad too because I had a good first round going. I had similar last season, there’s fluff all you can do about it I’m afraid

I swear you were documenting my 2d round. +3 after rd 1, felt good about my chances in rd2...just play a halfway decent round and you’re around for the weekend...nope. +14 and we’re heading home, leaving the sights and smells of Georgia behind.

Pretty disappointing finish with -2 to be -22 overall. I reckon at least a dozen putts missed by a millimetre, as my tempo wasn't too bad and I did put myself in good positions mostly. Another day those putts would drop and it'd be a totally different scorecard.

Welcome to the CC Masters at Fulton County GC (Tour) by CottyukIf I am being honest.. I thought this week would play tougher than last week. Seeing the struggles with last week has me a bit nervous... but I think you are all up for the challenge. Nothing unfair about this gem. Hit good shots and you'll be rewarded. Hit bad shots, and you'll be scrambling. I started you off gently this week... up a tee, low winds mod / firm conditions. Don't let that lure you into a false sense of security... Rounds 3 and 4 could prove trickier if the winds pick up as forecasted. This week is all about the greens. Make sure you're in the right spots on the greens to give yourself birdie shots. Think about your approaches and plan accordingly. You can score here, just takes some preperation Good Luck! You couldn’t have said it perfectly.....at least for me.... Rd 1 -8 Rd2 -3 Rd 3 E Rd 4 -1 -12 I thought I’d plow through this course in all 4 rounds and I got punched in the gut with missed approach shots on the wrong side of the green and missed putts especially in Rd 3.

-14 under for the week, I think that gets me promoted to group E.
What a tough week this week was! I already have my struggles with these forbidden course name-esque ones to begin with, but damn this was a tough test. I'm honestly just glad that I passed it with flying colors this week and finished really high up! Could have had potential to either do way worse which was the likelier option, or even better than that if putts landed just a tiny bit more. Happy with where I landed this week.
-7, -3, -2, -2 = -14.

catcherman22Dan, I really love the way you gradually decreased the speed of the greens this week. 187, 171, 163, 163 instead of wild green speed changes. I would love to see more of the gradual changes. Thanks Bill

Did round 4 play very laggy for anyone else? Really wasn’t enjoyable hitting 88% drives all over the place.

Did round 4 play very laggy for anyone else? Really wasn’t enjoyable hitting 88% drives all over the place. No, not for me. Played on Friday, and did not have any issues. (Note: I live in a rural area with very bad internet (i.e. 2 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload). Would like to use this as an excuse for my bad play, but the reality is that I am not very good. LOL) Actually played my last two rounds better than my first two. +7 for the first two rounds. +2 for the last two for a +9 total. (CC-J tier)

I thought I did really bad at first, then made the cut, and realized that EVERYONE probably thought they did bad, due to the toughness of the course.
I had posted earlier as I do after my first round, stating how I did not like this type of course.
I just wanted to come back and tell Cottyuk I think thats the designer, that although I'm not a fan of this type of course, YOUR course was amazing and I enjoyed playing it very much. The course was so well done, that it overcame my usual disdain of tough courses like this, with its sheer beauty and good design. It was very immersive, and made me want to be on it in real life. Great job!
