Hi all! My new project has kicked off. This is very late substitution plot for a Facebook Design Comp after getting completely stuck with my last attempt. We'll bench that one for the time being but now I only have a until the end of the month to complete this one!! Game on! This is something I've wanted to do for a while but thought it would be a challenge within the competition rules but I'm really happy with it so far. We're limited on the themes we could use, so I've opted for countryside and we have to have three greens within 50 yards of one another. I'm going for a mid summer, burnt out classic british heathland that is playing firm and fast. I'm mostly taking my inspiration from New Zealand GC (Addleston, UK) with a similar style and routing but also from all the great courses I remember playing as a kid like Swinley Forest, Liphook and Hankley Common. Due to time constraints, the heather type planting I've gone for is a bit of a cheat as I wanted something that I could create a farm and copy and paste - I don't have time for sinking bushes π it's not 100% where I want it but I'm happy with the effect and efficiency. Big thanks to @babybull for the top tips on bunkering already! Very helpful and a brilliant insight to get this project off the ground. There's a bit of work to do re more accurately putting heather on the lips of the bunkers though. Four holes in and this is just coming together really smoothly! Hope I can provide loads of updates for this and I can meet the deadline with a good product!

Quick progress today. Hole 5 is a mid length par 3 playing over two sand pits in the heather. Hole 6 is a par 4 split by cross bunkers. Really happy with these two, just need to sort lighting as you lose a lot of these two in the shadows. Let me know what you think!

It looks good so far to my eyes.
Regarding the lighting - is there any reason why you can't just kill a bunch of trees? Looks like that will solve most of your problems, as long as the trees aren't needed for another reason.

Yeah, I haven't worked out the lighting orientation yet but I might have to thin out a bit. I want the treeline dense to make the hole feel isolated so I'm sure there's a way I can achieve that with a few beams of light poking through π
