After another missed cut, I look at the next scheduled event and the Weather Report, then play a round from the appropriate tee box. I will play a round or two daily until the tournament starts. This routine doesn’t get me better, so I’m looking for a better practice regime, specific skills to improve and where to go in the game to practice those skills. I’m at a lower level Challenge (J), so I am looking to get better at every skill, and willing to spend an hour or two each day to get better. Thanks for any suggestions. Mike hey Mike, What platform are you on?

I can't hit the ball straight off so I have a practice swing two or three times per shot just to get the feel of the vibration then hit it, the majority of the times it works, well for me it does

hey Mike, What platform are you on? xbox one I'm on Xbox too. So a couple things. 1) I have a scorecard that I created in excel and each time I practice the upcoming course, I track my score. What happens after I have played it 4-6 times is I see my trends of which holes give me trouble and helps me evaluate if there is a different way for me to approach the hole. But I understand many people don't have the time to practice 6-8 rounds a week. 2) My goal when I play each round is to shoot 8 under per round, then I divide that into front nine and back nine. So if I can shoot 4 under on the front and four under on the back, I'm on track. That also helps me when I get a par on a hole I feel like I should have birdied, because I know I have 8 other holes to still reach my goal. Doesn't always work of course, but does help me with mindset. 3) For guys in the lower tours, one of the things again about mindset is instead of trying to birdie every hole, I tell them to focus on not getting a bogey on every hole. When I play a par four hole well, I get a birdie, but when I screw it up and hit in the water or out of bounce, I get a double bogey or triple bogey. Doesn't really matter that I have 6 birdies, if I also have 7 bogies. Eliminate the bogeys and the birdies will come. 4) I also run the TGC Practice Site on Xbox. I typically put up next weeks course on Thursday for 3 days, with all four rounds from the right tee and use the Weather Report to get an idea of our projected weather. Then after the course comes out Saturday night on TGC - I create a warm-up round at the practice site using the exact settings for round one, I do the same for round two on Sunday night. There are over 230 guys in there and the feedback I get is positive. I've watched a lot of guys consistently improve. You're definitely welcomed to come and join us. Free to join, free to play. But I still pay out Bonus coins for those guys interested in that kind of stuff. If all else fails, buy a Playstation and you will become much better overnight. LOL

I don't lol. I only have time most weeks to squeeze my rounds in now that Nursing school is in session. I guess that's why I'm teedering the cut line every week. Off topic, but I'm an RN. Been practicing since 1995 after military service...medical school reject. Second career, but enjoying most of it. In-patient psychiatry so I'm a perfect fit for this game!

My wife is a psych RN and I'll probably go into it as well.

LOL I think this is really some of the best advice. I for one am in a lower circuit - CC-K so trying to get under par is always what I shoot for. But I definitely like the idea of using a spreadsheet to track practice rounds and see which holes give me the most problems and work to improve on them. Alan - thanks so much for setting up the TGC Practice site each week - it's very helpful and much appreciated!

I’ll go to the Wind 2.0 course snd set the wind up to similar conditions to get used to it with my irons.....
And I’ll then go to the Blue Stadium course for my putting. I’ll play all 18 with similar green speeds to get the feel on putts. My ideal green speed is 163. I burn a lot of edges on 179 and 187’s.
My other routine is I play Rd 1 on Sunday or Monday and then wait to see where the cut line is settling at and then play rd 2 on Wed.
I usually play Rds 3 and 4 on Friday morning before I go to work.
Find a routine and try to stick with it.....

I have been trying to be more regular with my play schedule, but I will get more consistent - should be good to have one less thing to think about while practicing or playing tournament rounds. Mike
