I honestly hope the EA golf game is a success for you all, I dont wish a bad game on anyone, its just I dont like getting ripped off and EA are a rip off company, golf games have come a long way since the 80s, I still have world class leaderboard on the c64 and links 2004 as top golf games in my eyes, be careful what you wish for. We have already been ripped off by 2K, it remains to be seen if EA will do the same. The problem is if 30 courses is only for the deluxe version and if we are looking at a retail price of around £100 for that version, then sorry no yearly release sports game is worth that kind of money. I paid £42 for 2K23 and have felt that that price was about right though I would of waited another year for 2K24 for a more polished game, the most I have ever payed for a game is £50. Games are just getting too expensive in my book and yearly sports titles do rip off the consumer. 6 to 8 months down the line and those EA Sports titles come to EA Access which is free to Game Pass subscribers or drop way down in price because the next yearly release is a few months down the road.

30 courses with the deluxe version and you can plan to pay 5 bucks a pop for any additional that come on. They ain't cheap to do and EA isn't giving anything away. I don't care if people think only about 5% of the user created courses are good. I never play the garbage and there are ways to only check out the best. By my count there are at least 150 courses in 2k23 worth playing and this with a broken designer which has caused a lot of creators to abandon the game. EA's game will look fantastic how it will play is still unknown but we know there won't be a boatload of different courses to play. Fine if that works for you but I don't think that's enough to keep my interest for too long.

To be fair, one of the criticisms of Links was that it had no course designer, which was added in the early 2000s. Those custom courses added a ton of lifespan to the game. And it's not just the pace of courses being pushed out, it's the quality. We've seen the quality of studio courses vs. player designed. Which is weird because even the old Microsoft Golf 95 and 98 had course designers.

Looks like release date is as early 3/21/23. I'm going to hold out and wait until they release more details about online play, or after it is released. No sense in signing up for another $70 money grab by pre-ordering.

All I gotta say is, "Hmmmm" after that video. Sounds good, plenty of shot types like the stinger sound cool, but they say the ball physics are realistic yet part of me sees the ball rolling with no real friction in light/medium rough there so looked suss. I dunno, maybe it's their grass texture that made it look a little weird. Need to see someone actually properly playing it.
Button mashing spin is back! Haha - good god no!

Yeah gotta see someone play a round of golf. Game looks good no surprise there. Don't hold your breath waiting on someone actually playing this. So draws and cuts will be played through the feet as in 13 and 14?

Hmmm.... Button mashing for power and spin is a big no no for me ... Thankfully with the difficulty settings we would use, Tour difficulty is the closest to what we use now on 2K23.
Brain is mashed having 20 different shot types and reading all about them... 8 different shots around the green... It maybe too much... Need to see more of it, especially multiplayer and society,. If they have them... Before any purchase... We may get the 10 hours trial which will be a deal breaker

Good to see you can turn all the arcade stuff off, and all those shot types look great. Really looking to trying this out!

No course designer, not interested.
Probably have to pay for every little thing too. New courses $5. New clubs $5. New players $5. You want this feature where we pull your pud to completion? $5
They literally ruin everything they touch.

One thing I loved in the game description on the website:
“Whether it's facing 20 mph winds over the rock-hard terrain at the Old Course at St Andrews, to the suffocating rough at Bay Hill”
Sounds they are really allowing for a wider variety of course conditions. Something I’ve always wanted to see in 2k. Seems EA is priotizing the golf over all of the superfluous junk that 2K seems to focussed on these days….if only it had a designer!

Wait, what? 1300 VC and 5 clothing items. And a few funky balls. Worth their weight in gold!
