It'll be garbage....its EA for kfs sake, they just milk your money, also stop treating grown adults like children and just show us the gameplay, im aged 50 and dont need pimping with teaser stuff, they post teaser stuff because they know the game will be useless and they try to suck you in....mcilroy gameplay trailer looked very good...the game was dreadful....can you name a decent EA sports game out there that isn't a cash cow? I really hope this ea golf game stinks. I won't disagree with you about most of the things you said, but 2K did the same thing with their release of 2K23. They had a teaser trailer with WWE wrestlers, movie actors, musical artists, etc. and then had content creator streams, and all their silly social media posts, all before ever really going into what was actually going to be in their game. Meanwhile, just this morning, HB and 2K went back and forth changing how fittings work and adding (and then removing) different tiers of consumable golf balls in hopes of getting more money from people, as we go into ranked matchmaking. It's the way these businesses work now. EA is like this, and so is 2K. But at least now they are competing against each other, and maybe it means they'll both focus up a bit.

I really hope this ea golf game stinks.
I hope its great.
Now I'm not a big fan of EA, I know all too well how they are, and have posted my thoughts. But that didn't stop me from buying, playing, and enjoying NFS:Heat.
If the EA game comes out, and is great, then that will force HB/2K to up their ante. And that just helps us, as gamers. We get quality games, because they are competing with each other for our money.
Madden used to be good. You know when it was the best? Before EA got the full rights to do football, and they were competing with 2K's football game.
So yeah, I hope EA comes out with a great game, and then 2K comes back with a competitive great game, and we get to reap the benefits as players.

Agree and to be honest, it's not going to take a lot to beat this sh1te called PGA TOUR 2K23. WTF were HB thinking. They had a great game in 2K21 and needed to improve upon that as a base. Decided to full batsh1t stupid over 2 years for this turd we have now. I truly believe this EA game is going to be very good and as you say, HB/2K will have to finally put some true effort in to stay competitive. They know this place will always buy their game but that's not enough I'm afraid.

I personally hope it is good. Will definitely await reviews though because pixel golf sort of wearing me out and seem to be just dashing through. Think the career blast ( which i stopped weeks ago) may have contributed to that.
Just have to wait and see as I was a big Madden player but not for 3 years now as they definitely spoilt that.

What's funny is that everyone is saying that EA's game will get stale...interestingly enough, I feel 2K23 is very stale already and DOES have a designer. The designer itself is basically the same it's been for years, with very few new assets added since 2014, no new clubhouses/buildings, less functionality for PC designers, and a host of bugs and glitches. There's a reason good, new courses are still coming out at a snail's pace. Most of the courses we've played here to this point have been 2K21 ports. The main addition to the new designer is splining fences, and people are already complaining about designers using that feature too much... 2K's career mode is hollow, and you have to play on basically all the same courses in there anyway, since they never update the curated list with any new user-made tracks (Torrey Pines North has been the only add to it). So if EA can make an immersive single player career mode with some of the best-known courses on the planet, you're likely getting a better single player experience than 2K can offer, and that's why it's of interest to me. Yea as much as I like designing, I want a golf game where I can play an actual PGA season and compete to become the best golfer and win majors and big tournaments. Basically like franchise mode in other sports games (which is a dying mode to begin with)

Its the reason why I'm going back into retro gaming, the games are pure and you dont feel ripped off, I remember years ago forza 4 xbox game had an auction house where you could buy an sell cars, I made millions selling the ferrari gto and the game was addictive and you could own every car if you knew what you were doing....move forward to know and its endless grinding to get a car in a car game or get a club fitting in a golf game....grinding,grinding, grinding....your paying 50 pound plus for a game and they want you to grind..grind..or PAY MORE MONEY ON TOP OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE to get the cars or golf fittings quickly, its a con....it also feels like at times new games feel like a job grinding than an enjoyment playing games.

That's really interesting - as an "old school" gamer, I find these newer games (even the flawed ones) to be so much better and immersive than what we played back in the day. I remember buying the original Playstation (after some years of being off gaming altogether) and while I thought the graphics were nice, most of the gameplay felt really shallow.
Took another break and jumped back into gaming this last year, it's no comparison. These games are far better, in so many ways.
Honestly, buying and selling cars in an auction house in a game sounds as grindy as playing a few seasons of career mode to max out levels/fittings.

I don't care who makes it. As long as they can provide an entertaining online experience, I am all in. And no, not a TGCT type of thing or societies. But the simple ability of turning on the console, open the game, and find several different random people I could play in any mode I want, with any settings I want to use myself and or for myself and my opponents. Not this forced random, limited thing we have with this game. It is all I have wanted, and have hoped they will improve on.
I like this game. But I played when it came out, and not since apart from a TGCT tournament here or there. I just can't be bothered to play on my own after work, and sometimes just too tired to try to compete on the tours. I love what TGCT is and offers, but right now, i just want casual fun! Whenever and always available.
Hoping to be able to have lobbies to find different types of gameplay styles each day, depending of the mood. Hopefully also fun game modes.
I cant wait.

I honestly hope the EA golf game is a success for you all, I dont wish a bad game on anyone, its just I dont like getting ripped off and EA are a rip off company, golf games have come a long way since the 80s, I still have world class leaderboard on the c64 and links 2004 as top golf games in my eyes, be careful what you wish for.

Yep, same here. I'll play the single player career mode at first, but then I'll just want to quickly and easily dip in to an online, multiplayer game. I've never understood why HB/2K could never get this one figured out. The last EA golf game I played was pre-Rory, but I could always find someone online with ease, no matter the time of day. I'm really looking forward to the reveal tomorrow. The things I'm hoping for are: Good gameplay - decent swing mechanic Good graphics - 2K3 is ridiculously dated in this department Online - good, easy lobby system, as well as more organised societies. Good selection of courses - 30 is more than enough for me to start with. I would happily pay for extra courses back in the Links days, there wasn't a ton of them, and I played those games for *years* without feeling I needed extra. I hope this also gives HB/2K a huge kick up the arse. Make a good game and the micro-transactions will follow. Make it rubbish, and it'll die pretty quickly.

To be fair, one of the criticisms of Links was that it had no course designer, which was added in the early 2000s. Those custom courses added a ton of lifespan to the game.
And it's not just the pace of courses being pushed out, it's the quality. We've seen the quality of studio courses vs. player designed.

Like is said before. There will be a major exit of players from this game going to EA. I for one hope they specialize in an offline tour. As long as it looks realistic and utilizes next gen. Then I can careless the number of courses available at launch
Everyone says, “ well 2k has a course designer”. But out of all those courses how many are actually a good design? I say less than 5 percent tops.
At the end of the day play what game you feel comfortable with. Enjoy it
2k is outdated. And not worth playing on my $5200 rig I built. Why would I even bother ?

I feel as though I have a slightly different opinion. I live near EA Sports headquarters, and have visited once (went over a few years ago, pre COVID for a Madden playtest). They rewarded us with 2 free games, Madden being one of them (I got it a few days before it came out). They are a "local" company for me, so of course, I want someone locally to do well (albeit, they are a bit different than a Mom and Pop restaurant or whatever). I hope they put out a quality game that gives 2K a run for its money, and like someone else said, we as gamers can benefit from a sort of game war so to speak.
Fingers crossed...
