after the last crap they ditched up i am not getting excited about this one iota Doesn't EA give a 10 hour trial of their games if you're an EA Play member, so that's a good trial to see if they have made another turkey or not. Been a long long time since EA have made a decent golf game and Rory is one of the worse golf games I have ever played.

Even when EA was good it was still £50 for the game plus £50 for all the DLC to give you a grand total of about 45 courses. It was a good game (especially the lobby) but it always wore thin after a while. Unless that's changed I have literally no interest. HB/2K could serve up a game where we're all Disney characters and we have to stand on our heads to swing using clubs resembling candy canes, as long as it's got the course designer I'm in.

The courses are a big deal - I've been a member on tgctours since 2018 - and except for the ANGC course over the years - I don't think I've played the same course twice in any of the tournaments over the 4 years. The in-game designer and this design community will be what keeps 2K/HB relevant..

The PC games were good, but they were riding on the work Headgate Studios did in the early 2000s lol. I also feel like their mouse swing in PGA 2000 was more dynamic and complex than the one in TW 2002-2008 PC. I suppose a couple of the later PS3/360 TW games were alright too. Never liked the physics in the console versions though.

Not much new but this is the latest news I could find - realsport101.com/misc/pga-tour-ea-sports-game-release-date-latest-news-cover-star-trailer-ps5-ps4-xbox-series-x/Thing that bothers me most - which also reads as no designer - read below Platforms
That initial release kicked off with: "EA announced EA SPORTS PGA TOUR, a new next-gen golf video game, currently in development."
That essentially confirms the game for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and it would be very surprising for the title to not arrive on PS4 and Xbox One.
It remains to be seen whether the title will arrive on PC, Nintendo Switch and Stadia.***** If this works correctly, then this golf game will make the stats fans happy EA SPORTS PGA TOUR is the first-ever golf video game to incorporate ShotLink data, which will provide extensive amounts of data that will be integrated into the game’s development, resulting in accurate player ratings and skills and magnified true-to-life in-game events. TrackMan measurement solution’s data is also being incorporated into the game to add an additional layer of authenticity by allowing EA’s game designers to perfect gameplay and numerous stats such as club tuning.

This emphasis on ShotLink data and Trackman sounds a lot like the gimmicky "next gen stats" that EA Madden incorporates. Even if the career mode and multiplayer is spot on, without a course designer or an enormous course library, playing the same 20-30 courses will get stale very quickly. Even Links had the APCD.

TGC changed the golf video game landscape and expectations. The course designer is now table stakes.

EA being EA. Hope they don’t F with the Battlefield 2042 release. 11/19 better stand (although I think that would be more on Dice than EA).

I first thought , Hey maybe they are going to fool us and release it around the holidays but seeing the words "coming months". now maybe next year's holiday season? No clue and nothing to back me up but gut feeling. Too many games are now coming out as early access (or a paid for beta test). I hope EA does not do this. Just test your game until it is as good as it gets with limited in house testing or put on the big man pants and allow your customer base HELP you test it before we lay down money. I can almost guarantee they would be turning volunteers away from a closed beta.

You can sign up for future ones here www.ea.com/playtesting
