There isn’t any RNG in the EA game. Dispersion is RNG. They are two different things RNG you have no control over but dispersion you do. If you choose to play with the aiming arc off that’s on you. If you play with it on you are in control of dispersion.

Has anyone played in the Sim events that are live now on LACC?
I shot -7 in the seasonal which is good enough for third on Xbox right now. Thought it was pretty cool that - last I checked, on Xbox at least - eight under was the low score both on here and irl.
That new putting camera (not new anymore I guess but I'm just getting back into this) is really well done too. The putting lacks anywhere near the feel of 2K's game but I'm still enjoying trying to figure out the reads.

The course has been well criticised this week for not being US open level of difficulty. The tactical approach isn’t needed to set up for good angles into greens for approach shots because most are hitting high loft 9 iron or wedge on approach shots off the back of their long drives. Fairways are super wide so it’s just bombs away off the tee. EA need to fix the rough on this course as it’s not as penal as its real counterpart. Great addition by EA though and definitely up there with Riviera which is amazing in this game. ( Same real world course architect/designer as Riviera I think )

My two big gripes about this game are: The rough not being punishing enough. They've tweaked it a little for long irons and hybrids / woods but short irons and wedges still get far too much spin and control from it. I really hope they change this in the next update as it would really lean into the need for strategy that's already kind of there. and, the poor online options. Put up a daily sim every day and cycle through the courses at least! Riviera is also fantastic. Tbh I found most of the courses very well done aside from the odd silly thing like a stand where it shouldn't be etc. My personal favourite is TPC Boston. Great course and it looks absolutely incredible on this game. And yeah it's been a very strange US Open this week for sure. Personally though I'm hoping it suits Rory over the weekend if he keeps his head.

Just before the release of EA Sports golf, I was in two minds whether to purchase 2K23, stick with what I had, which was 2K21, or pre-order EA sports golf as I felt I needed something different. Well, sometimes in life you often need to buy something you already have, to appreciate what you already have. Having played EA Sports golf for 3 weeks solid, and not really enjoying the game at all, I decided to return to my PGA Tour on 2K21. It was only then that I realised what a brilliant game it is.

On EA I also don't like around the green it's very easy to go out of bounds at times when it looks like you should be in the rough. A few times the animation shows it's still in play then I have a dropped ball? I just find in EA's game I have more control, whereas on 2K every once in awhile (at least one hole per round) I have no idea what I did wrong so how can I fix it?

Yeah I got that feeling after buying 2k23. Made me realise that PGA 2k21 is the best 2K game. However, I’ve not yet dived into EA as I’m last gen. Having said that, the gameplay doesn’t look like it caters to my tastes anyway unfortunately.

Curious why anyone would think 21 is better than 23 when you consider the short game in 21.

Curious why anyone would think 21 is better than 23 when you consider the short game in 21. I much prefer everything else in 21 aside from the short game. If kept everything the exact same and put the new short game in I'd have been delighted. The long game in 23 feels far too easy and rigid to me in comparison to 21. Master is almost like semi-pro / pro on 21 tee to green. I'd love that Tough as Nails society Hammersman and Longpole have mentioned but on a stock Xbox controller legend is the other extreme and totally unplayable because you only have one good shot / tempo point. The balance isn't quite there in terms of the difficulty I feel. It IS there on the razor controller on Xbox but I don't quite enjoy this version enough to justify buying a controller just for it. Mostly because of technical issues / gripes I have with the console version (blurry graphics on performance mode, frame-rate dips, aggressive depth of field and really bad pop-in).

The long game onLegend on 2K23 is pretty close but maybe a little harder than 2K21's master but 2K23 actually has much harder swingplane difficulty. To me legend feels more balanced with the long and short game, has a great challenge to the whole game now. On 2K21 you had a short game where master swing difficulty felt like beginner with the awful splash and chip. I actually had 6 chip ins on my final round. Putting from 5 to 10 foot in 2K21 is way easier than what we have now with grids off. So no fond memories for me of 2K21 as the short game was rubbish, I just could not play that game again. Regarding the Razer Wolverine V2, I think it's a great controller and not only does it feel better than the Series X controller I have it just feels way more responsive. You really have to swing fast and the stick sensitivity makes swingplane a challenge, which I think is a good thing as Xbox controller are quite easy to hit straight in the game. I will keep it for other games but I will definitely stick to the DS5 for 2K23.

We were in the same boat on 21 avoiding splashes off grass and trying our best to make the short game somewhat challenging. And they did a great job of improving this in 23 but the drop in difficulty tee to green just totally killed my enjoyment back when I was playing regularly. Hopefully on 2k25 they can marry up both elements and have a challenge all round or, failing that, if it looks halfway decent on console I'll definitely grab a razor then and just play with you guys on legend. I think I said to you when I had the PlayStation that time that legend true sim on 23 was awesome gameplay wise. I'm just a stubborn bastard and hold a grudge over the price tag given the console port so won't splash out on a razor to play it 😂

the putting is the worst part of the game, there's no fluid swing at all,the backstroke barely moves so you can't judge how much you need to use the backstroke.that's the main reason I don't play the game anymore.
