So my question is this: Seems many of you are bored with the game already. Game was released a little over TWO months ago. Is two months of meh gameplay and off and on play worth $70+ dollars for what should have been a AAA release? I can only speak for myself but I knew I wasn't buying this game after seeing trailers and very lackluster reviews from here as well as online reviews. I expect more than two months of play from a game before it gets shelved. TGC/2K has always provided more for me as well as the community of players I game with. Even what I view as the worst game of the lot ( PGA 2K21) I played that game for a year probably. Not trying to sway anyone here or argue with anyone, just asking for perspective from others. I was still playing fairly regularly until recently. Diablo 4 will destroy any hopes I have of playing anything else for now. I think you've hit the nail on the head that the lack of multiplayer modes will kill this long term. Funny enough it's the one thing I thought was sure to be good and in that regard they've come up well short. I still think it's a good game. Very different than 2K - some things I like more in EA others I like more in 2K - but in a sports game when you have no online modes worth playing you're on a hiding to nothing. I'd dip back in for a few rounds a week if they fleshed out that side of it though.

Agreed that they didn't add any of the big ticket stuff that will keep people playing longterm. Think I finally figured out what I like most about each game. They are both easy (relative to par), but for different reasons. I feel like most of the challenge in 2K is about replicating your swing plane and tempo over and over. Distance calcs/putting/short game have all been relatively easy to master. On the EA side, there's not as much pressure on the swing mechanic itself since it's so forgiving (as well as the rough) - but using the right club/shot type/loft on each hole is more challenging. So EA is more fun to play at times because I don't normally have the frustration that comes along with an inconsistent swing. It's mostly my brain against the course. But there's no feel of community at all - no TGC, no societies, no crossplay. We can argue about API checks around here, but I don't have the slightest confidence that EA is a level playing field anytime you're playing an online mode. This is only going to get worse for EA the longer it takes. There might not be much of a population to save before too long.

Well they knocked it out the park with LACC, absolutely top notch course in my opinion.

Well they knocked it out the park with LACC, absolutely top notch course in my opinion. Compared to what? Ok, they nailed Augusta. They nailed some other courses. But it doesn't mean much for 85% of us because they refuse to fix the Multiplayer Situation. And the gameplay looses most of the hardcore gamers. Glad you are still enjoying it though, but the game is all about the single player mode in reality. And that gets old, real fast, for most gamers. In comparison with 2k23, I just played 10 different courses inside of 5 days. The graphics were amazing in my opinion. Plenty of Community Competition. The gameplay is addictive, frustrating and orgasmic every time. It's unbeatable. Looking forward to 2k25.

This is only going to get worse for EA the longer it takes. There might not be much of a population to save before too long. Couldn't agree more mate. I think I said a few days after launch that I almost look at them as being two different genres of golf game and you've summed up why perfectly there. I can't think of a perfect analogy but it's more like a strategy game than a real-time sports game. Which, honestly, I would've thought I would hate that before playing it but turns out I actually quite like it. If they upped the difficulty somehow I'd probably play offline a lot even. But I can see how a lot of people don't like it and prefer the responsiveness of the 2K game. I think in that regard their marketing could've been much better. 'We're taking a different approach to bringing golf to console and focusing on the strategy required and difference in course types'. But then again it sold *really* well and might not have in that case. But yeah the clock is ticking for them to make some much-needed minor changes that would really help the game. And yep, agreed on the online. No way of knowing if anyone is legit and no way of creating private tournaments with people you trust.

I streamed two Sim rounds on LACC today if anyone fancies checking out their version of the course. I'm not familiar with it at all but it played well. Some tight pins on tricky slopes.
First rounds in a while so plenty of rust with a horrible +7 first round and then a -2 second. I still don't find it too easy on Sim settings. I may well be absolutely terrible at the game though to be fair! -7 was leading on the Xbox sim leaderboard.

I have not fired up EA in 2 weeks. Anybody still playing? I knew it would not last long for me……There are not enough courses for one and one time through Career is all you can do…again, game is not bad but it doesn’t match up with 2K which still has more to offer overall. You can only so much with career and missions. If they had a version of the TGC Tours and societies then I’d play 50/50 with both games. I'm playing about 50/50 currently, going through a second season of career mode on tougher settings. Gotta grind out a few more specs to complete my player. After that, not sure if I'll play much EA or not. Seems most people are drifting back to 2K, so I'll probably end up doing the same. If they add crossplay/online options, maybe? It’s not a bad game. I don’t hate the game. But I don’t want to see the Augusta course for a while. That is why I like 2K better, so many different types of courses to see during the week when I play the TCG Tours and my societies. I got to 87 with my player but have not played in a few weeks…. I’ll try to fire it up soon before it turns into a non play. I was just firing it up for the daily tourneys….I want to go thru the entire Career mode but don’t want to play 72 holes with each tourney besides the Majors. I’m off next week so I’ll have some time to play EA as my priorities are the TGC Tours and The Brew Crew, and Tyler’s NFL Stableford society. I also enjoy the new Tough as Nails society. I suck at it but the courses are excellent and the challenge is tough as nails, lol.
