Headed out to a links style course this week by gamesdecentBallymulderry isn’t all that long but it is well protected and should be a fun challenge in some wind. The course also has produced one way to get around HB’s incredibly strange decision to not give us pot bunkers. The flat bottom bunkers around the course have ridges and rivets thanks to thin layers of hedges for a unique look. May get a few squirrely bounces though, so be warned, the bunkers do play like a true hazard this week, as intended in links golf. Good luck everyone!

R1 was a toughie, but a lot of fun. Was content with my -4. Followed that with a -9 in the more benign R2 conditions.
-13 prob' touch and go to make the cut I would guess.

Ploughed on and finished this one out (something I don't usually do). Finished on -25.

-15 at the cut and -26 total
Not my favorite course. But I did appreciate the challenge.
Round 4 pins are tough as expected. One gripe - #13 par 3 (the one with the bunker in the middle of the geeen). Pin is on the right side of the green. I hit a great shot nearly pin high to the right of the green. Everything slopes right to left. So my ball hits right of the pin, feeds left, passed the bunker on the high side, then catches the slope back down and rolls all the way off the green. That shouldn’t happen in my opinion. Land right side of the green, right of the pin, and wind up off the front left of the green.
I then had to play a splash over the bunker. Pin is still in a tough spot so impossible to get close. 2 putt bogey. That is after a wonderful tee shot.
Oh well, I think I’ll make the cut but don’t see any promo marks coming.

Nice to see the elite course much tougher than Kinetic....Kinetic has been a rough go for like 5 straight weeks.

Not a fan of this course and setup demo mark(s) incoming and I'll bite my tongue and say no more on the matter

Not a fan of this course and setup demo mark(s) incoming and I'll bite my tongue and say no more on the matter I played your ghost Gavin and we both struggled badly in round 1. I tried playing with perfect tempo but I just cannot master it at all, +7. Then I binned the perfects and went back to playing fasts. I don't like doing it but, as the 79 shows, I would be playing in the lower CC leagues otherwise. Round 2 I hit -8 with -7 on the front 9 alone. I think I am close to dropping to Kinetic after 2 really bad weeks!

Ooof, those were 2 of the worst rounds I've played in recent memory. Started out SO good too with a hole out for eagle from 128yds on the very first hole and then a birdie on the second. That's about all the positive I can say from the first round. I didn't feel like I played badly but with that wind and those greens there were a number of holes where I missed my aiming spot by 5 feet and ended up off the green or 30+ feet away with orange/red swales between me and the hole. Was getting around well in the 2nd round, 7 under through 11, but then out of nowhere hit a stretch where I just played bad golf which included 2 bogeys. Birdied 18 for a 6 under but felt like I left at least 3 shots out there in that round. Gonna be 2 missed cuts in my first 2 elite events, fingers crossed for no demotion marks this week but they are totally deserved. Guess this is my penance for somehow steamrolling through kinetic so quickly.

Woah - people are going to get triggered about some of those pins in round 4! Loved every crazy minute of this week.
Lovely setting but, man, those greens are so punishing if you miss in the wrong spot. Constantly on edge the whole way round - great fun!

Pin on the par 3 with the bunker in the middle was especially nasty. Was lucky to salvage a par.

This course was so punishing for all the wrong reasons. There were multiple time where I stuck it to within 10 feet only to be rewarded with a pin on an orange slope. Other times you hit a good approach shot only to catch a red slope and end up 30 yards off the green. Did the best I could with the conditions given to me and looking at the schedule I better get used to it because Suusex Downs, Kukimbia Kwa Fisi, and Strathlorne are not easy courses by any means. Good luck everyone!

-1, -7, -7, -7,-22. My first round ruined me. Got used to the greens after that. Definitely a course where you have to aim for the right part of the green to get decent putting opportunities. Still one of my favorite petty courses. I'm a fan of low wind rounds with hard greens as I tend to play well in those settings! Feeling good about next week
