Well, not a great week, but I'm not really surprised with the laggy course and a course that exposed one of with weakness (long approach). Lag wasn't that bad in first 3 rounds though. I shot-6 in first round, then -10 in 2nd. -16 at the cut should be very close, but good on that short field. But hey, it's tricky to predict the cut on a monday after last week! Round 3 was very frustrating and bogey the 7th hole for a 3rd time in a row was a demotivator. Ended up at -3.
And round 4 is barely playable due to lagging. Probably cost me 5-6 shots. I can stand some lag with regular shots, not at all on the green. Another -3. It's a very great course that is kinda ruined a little bit with all the lagging.

On PS5, so I am fortunate to not get lag. It only took me 8 months, but I just now realized that there is a tempo component to putting on how hard you follow through and how far the putt goes even when you pull back to the same spot/apex before you follow through. That on top of the more finicky 60Hz swing will keep my interest going in this game for the regular tours at least in fine tuning several things.
I am going to have a cut sweat and the participation will be a factor in where I fall versus the cut line.
Good luck to those with rounds yet to play!

Hello.
I played my first two rounds yesterday late in the evening right after a solid TST performance. The reduced field along with the fact that I surprisingly stayed demo-mark-free last week added to the motivation. Due to a few annoying bogeys off red missed approaches, I had quite a slow start in both rounds, sitting at -1 through 7 holes twice. Fortunately, I was able to pick up some speed afterwards. In particular, round 2 proved to be quite spectacular, as I eagled three par fives en route to a rare double digit under par score. Thus, it could well be that I profit from the favorable setting this week and get rid of one of my two demo marks. Woohoo!
Cheers and good luck all!
Edit: I forgot to include my scores! I had a -7 and a -12 for -19 at the cut.

Anybody else hate playing rounds in the dark? -4 and -8 over here for -12 halfway. Won't be enough for the cut, but hopefully I can avoid some demo marks...

I never noticed until the other day that you could take practice putt and get say....38% and white, but then putt and get a 38% which isn’t white. Definitely explains some instances where I’m left confused as to the distance of my putt. I do not know however whether it’s the backswing tempo, the forward tempo, or both.

Finished up but unfortunately the lag in rounds 3&4 turned it into a lottery... kinda proud of myself and my PS4 for not giving up! 😎

I thought it was time for another choking job as I started the front 9. 2 pars, and disastrous bogey. Ok, well, my practice rounds have started similarly before with this, I know I can bounce back.
Even through 7, I had to turn it on. Grey fasts everywhere. Just missing tempo. On this pin set, you need to be precise. Can't be missing tempos. The high winds punish you too hard. But the tempo started to come back. Plenty of scoring on the back 9. Even a patented splash in on 17 for eagle! I was feeling much better, ending at -9, knowing if I could hone in just a touch more on tempo, I would dominate round 2. Conditions and pins were much easier.
Oh did I ever. My best Platinum round ever with a -16, should have been -17 with a horrid putt on 11. I'm in contention for the victory after 2. Let's hope I can put 2 more rounds I know I'm capable of. Just 3 off of the man Vdawg himself. I know the ability is there....can I channel my best game on Saturday?
Fixing my swing plane with a slightly higher placement of my thumbs (yes, thumbs. I use two thumbs because I have tiny hands) has allowed me to swing straighter than ever. The tempo is a slight work in progress, but once I start to feel it, oh boy do I feel good!

Grats to Vdawg! I struggled with tempo super hard. Despite an early hole in one in round 3, I really couldn't get much going and had 3 bogies. I rallied super hard in round 4, shooting insanely well but missed a bunch of makeable chips. Tough, but makeable. Ended up being -41 going into that dreaded hole with the water in the back....miscalulated wind just slightly and ended up on the back of the green with room to spare...but it just kept rolling....
One day I'll put it all together. Those miscalucations have been far fewer than they used to be. Just need to get more consistent with tempo. A wonderful day nonetheless!
