This post is about my wish list for the course designer. All my thoughts on game play have already been addressed in the thread. None of the following is meant as a negative against HB Studios, they have improved the course designer in each new game.
Well here goes...
Playtest Add an option to hit 5 shots or 10 shots from the same spot (not just one). Ability to change clubs without exiting the course designer.
Measure Tool Add multiple color options (4 or more) for the measure tool line. Ability to toggle on/off when designing. Ability to delete an area (scalable).
Snap Feature Ability to snap left or right. Increase the categories that can snap (ability to snap tournament objects together).
Out of Bounds Ability to spline the OB area. The following options would be available... 1. Add white stakes on the OB boundary automatically (option to adjust distance between stakes). 2. Add a white line on the OB boundary automatically without stakes. 3. Add stakes and a white line on the OB boundary automatically. The ability to add OB stakes manually should still be available.
Penalty Areas Ability to spline yellow and red penalty areas. The following options would be available... 1. Add yellow or red stakes on the penalty area boundary automatically (option to adjust distance between stakes). 2. Add a yellow or red line on the penalty area boundary automatically without stakes. 3. Add yellow or red stakes and the yellow or red line on the penalty area boundary automatically. The ability to add red or yellow stakes manually should still be available.
Penalty Area Drop Options Each penalty area would give the player a choice of their available drop options under R&A/USGA Rule 17. A preview of each option would be available with yardage to the pin included. Option to place/move/remove a drop zone for each penalty area. The drop zone, marked with a white circle, would appear as a preview before being placed.
Plants, Rocks, Trees and Grasses Add high grasses to the options like greens, fairways, rough, heavy rough and bunkers (high grasses would have different types and colors of high grasses instead of textures). Ability to spline the above high grass waste or environmental areas. Ability to adjust the size and density of heavy rough and high grasses (with a reasonable limit for the maximum height). Ability to see high grasses rendered more like surfaces so they can be seen from a distance. Upgrade the plants that look fake to make them look more realistic. Adjust the default size for plants, trees, rocks and grasses so they all make sense (keep the ability to resize them, just give the same starting point scale). Ability to tilt or rotate planting objects 360 degrees.
Clubhouses and Buildings Remove the way the ground raises and flattens for clubhouses, the car park and any other objects (including surfaces) that change the ground level. Give more components to use when creating clubhouses like windows, doors, roofs, etc. Add more building varieties to use when creating clubhouses, buildings and cities. Add generic shapes like squares, rectangles and triangles to build walls. Add generic shapes and surfaces like cubes, pyramids, cones, etc. to build rooms or buildings. Ability to change textures (stone, brick, siding, etc.) on the generic shapes and surfaces. Add the snap feature to building surfaces.
Tournament Objects Ability to snap tournament objects together. Include the different color canvas walls. (I need them to complete my tournament course). Add generic scaffolding component options to create tournament seating. (flat square platform without steps and railing, steps, railing, seating, etc). Add generic tournament seating without steps on the sides (steps would be in the seating going out under the stands). Add 45 degree and 90 degree tournament seating for corner transitions. Add more tournament objects (tournament tee markers, water coolers, signs, banners, etc.).
Tee Boxes The ability to create tee sets that are not limited by length of hole. Tee markers only showing up for the current tee during tournament play. Ability to add or remove the divots.
Object Scaling and Rotating Give the option of 360 degree rotation of every object. Give the option to adjust the scaling size for all objects from the default size. Make all objects default size consistent with the scaling size of other objects in the game.
Other Objects Add trucks, maintenance equipment and other vehicles. Add more wildlife options. Add more golf course equipment options.
Again, I love the designer and the ability to build virtual golf courses, facilities and environments. Just looking for more options and flexibility to create faster.

In the designer here is what I would like to see.
Allow us to set a “base texture” for our entire plot. For example an ocean course with a base of sand....EVERYWHERE.
Then allow us to lay other textures over top of that where we want the with splines or brushes. Make each of those “splines or brushes” have a “transparency slider” to allow us to choose how much of the base texture shows through.
This would stop us from having to sink trees or bushes everywhere and make the designer better. It would allow us complete control over the look of our courses and fairways. Waste bunkering would be so much easier to do as would cliff sides and etc.
Please make that happen!

Much more interesting practice options. Scenarios of great shots of the past ( we can all think of many examples which could be used ) We are asked to duplicate them, and rewarded if we manage it.The hole on which the real shot was played would be duplicated. I would like thirty such scenarios, not just a handful. I'd be happy to pay for extra downloadable scenarios too, which might encourage HB/ 2K to do it. Scenarios such as 'Your ball has a good lie but on a slightly uphill slope, the green is 170 yards to the fringe, the flag a further 18 yards on the green on a slight downhill slope. Can you get within 3 feet of it?' If achieved the same shot in a strong head/tailwind. Again, success is rewarded.
I'd also like stats for how many perfects were achieved each round as a percentage, obviously not counting putts.

How about letting US play the game instead of the GAME playing US. It's absolutely ridiculous when someone (such as myself) who has played the game for years (and was in the top 100 at one point) consistently get 1 bad TGC round a week. (like -2 or worse) The same 15 or so guys (I'm guessing GOLD or SILVER contributors) are in the top 10 every week and NEVER shoot less than -11 per round/per event. The game was "fun" when it was TGC19, but 2K21 took that game, screwed up the swing, added non-sense like "bouncing off the pin" and the likely hood of finding a bunker or HEAVY ROUGH (on even GOOD) shots has increased EXPONENTIALLY.
I got so tired of getting my brains beat in every week in the upper tours I finally caved and joined the BEER LEAGUE, and in the past month or so, the same CRAP is happening there.
I had just started this weeks BEER league rounds and wouldn't you know, I hit a perfect drive, a perfect approach (actually PERFECT) and end up in a bunker, SPLASH out to 8' and somehow make BOGEY on a perfectly straight putt. There isn't one player in the top 50 on the leader board that bogied the first hole.
This week is already over.
That's my opinion.

I'm not looking to pile on or be a circle the wagons type person. I'm not that way but feel I should post in reply to this one point.
Long time member and player. Gold donor, even donated while I was in the hospital for 10 months in 2017 without a chance of playing at all. (and have never mentioned that ever until just now) Just had my worst tournament in a long time yesterday. CCA struggling and grinding my ass off. So I don't think its how much one contributes is at play here. God I wish, here's my CC Card number.
I know how you feel though, some days, most, it feels like I'm fighting the game or it's fighting me. To me it feels more like a disparity between platforms and or hardware combined with the connection quality of a player. And or how busy the server is when I'm playing which is for me on a Sunday morning for my tournament rounds.

1) Better character customization.
Seriously, I play some games and MMOs that are 10 years old that have way better character makers than this game has, more npcs around, and runs smoother. The variety of characters you can make here seems very limited and ugly, for lack of better word, for a character that you see on every screen, and the crowd if you turn them on.
2) Color customization
I saw someone else mentioned this. Didn't it used to be an option to pick any color for your outfits, and have choices for multiple areas, like the shirt itself and the collar? Why did they take that out?
3) First person view / Free look / Walk around mode
I would love to have a viewpoint in first person, looking straight down at your club, and be able to swing that way.
I'd love to be able to zoom into first person, (don't have to go wild showing my body when I look down!) the point would be to be about to move around the course at ground level and look where you are. Can't tell you how many times I've been in the woods, foliage, with my view totally blocked by the third person cam, or behind a hill, and it would be handy just to move around like you would in real life and look and see whats over that hill, or what your actual golfer would see if he is standing in the woods.

I would to see attribute changes attached to grips and shafts. I can choose a shaft that may increase distance at the cost of forgiveness or vice versa. So I could take a Bridgestone Driver, add a shaft and grip that would help it be more forgiving, or the Taylormade 287 Driver and choose a shaft to add distance. Basically more customization of the attributes in clubs. Nothing too crazy, but just let us make some decisions to customize our set. Being able to choose lofts with irons like we can choose lofts with wedges. So I could have a 5 iron two degrees strong or a 7 iron 2 degrees weak.
In the designer, I would like the ability to playtest with my measure tool lines showing, and/or the ability to add measure markers while I am playtesting, that way I can note as I am playtesting and do not have to jump back and forth.

Being able to walk around and "feel" the changes in terrain would be awesome. While it would take forever, how cool would it be for the player to walk with his caddy to the next shot?

I'd also like to be able to change color of houses and roofs of houses too.

In the Golf Club VR you can actually get in the golf cart and drive it. And it being a VR game you can feel all the undulations on that fairway with good old VR sickness. Great fun though and the game shows the potential for a good motion controller for a golf game.

Improvement #1 Fix the Fast Exploit
Shot Type (Tempo: Swing Path) Pull Hook (Fast: Inside/Out) Pull (Fast: Straight) Pull Slice (Fast: Outside In) Draw (Perfect: Inside/Out) Straight (Perfect: Straight) Fade (Perfect: Outside/In) Push Hook (Slow: Inside/Out) Push (Slow: Straight) Push Slice (Slow: Outside/In)
Only perfect tempo shots (draw/straight/fade) should carry the 100% distance. You can draw shots either by an inside/out swing or by changing your stance to a draw position and doing a normal up/down swing.
Improvement #2 Get the Polish Out
Iron out all those silly little bugs. Live Leaderboards that have me in first place even though I’m 10 shots back really kills the buzz.
Improvement #3 Cater to all Difficulty Options
Is there any need for 6 difficulty options? Give us about 3 or 4 options but most of all, don’t just cater to pro difficulty online. I would like Amateur/Pro/Master/Simulation online tournaments, leaderboards and rankings please.

The game play is a blast. Even the driving range is fun. A VR option would be great for 2K. It could be played first person like EGVR or third person from the standard camera in 3D. Either way some sandbox roaming would add a lot of value. Make the clubhouses “live” too so we can enter them and poke around. Gotta keep people out of the tee boxes whose shot it is not if you are playing with others, unless VR should be solo rounds only.

So, you're attributing the fact you can't plan a shot correctly and then missed a straight 8 foot putt to the amount of money you haven't donated to TGCTours? I knew that Doyley and his crew were a dastardly bunch but they've gone too far this time! I would raise a ticket if I was you.

Gameplay-wise, it's so close. So close and yet so far. I have no issue with the idea of hitting an intentional red fast power draw in the right situation. The problem is it's easier to be consistent with that shot than it is to hit it perfect, and the results of hitting that shot are consistent. The key word there being 'consistent'. The results of a perfectly hit shot should be fairly consistent, if they made the results of an imperfectly hit shot less consistent it would completely change the dynamic we have now. Apart from that, I like the swing mechanic. It's maybe a little easy to dial a distance on chips, especially when you consider how good the touch and feel of the putting is. Conversely the pitching is ridiculous. 80% power should go 80% distance, end of! Those partial pitches it tries to make you take are ludicrous.
In the designer there's already been lots of good suggestions. I'd like to be able to tilt retaining wall, but you would still need the panels to drop vertically down. You should be able to spline a drop area and link it to a body of water or other hazard. And one thing I've always thought, people spend time making driving ranges and putting greens for their courses, it would be really cool if you could load up their course and use the practice areas.
And bring back flyovers and the ability to scout around the course! No idea why they took that out. Same with colour customisation of outfits. I get it with the branded stuff but surely we can design our own HB gear?
