mattyfromcanada, Ingonish Bay? Did I miss something? Came across this course by chance and played a few holes as I recognised the thumbnail. And yes sir this is Breton Bay! What's this version?

What's this version? 2k wanted to use it for matchmaking mode but there were some copyright issues, just did a quick name change for that.

Ripper course and plays like a "in real life" course. Some decent elevation and those undulating fairways keep it interesting on factoring the side lie. Love the drivable 2nd and got black fast down and across the cart path. That is a great sightline over the coast from up so high. So close on 3. Great ground game required on 7 to navigate the green. A tight drive on 8 was required and of course that means a red-slow. Got suckered in on 9 and paid for the result in the bunker. Loved the downhill short par 3 11th and then followed up by the lengthy par 3 12th. Great challenging 18th with OB at the road. I really enjoyed my round.

I just stopped whatever I was doing, took my hat off, placed my right hand on my heart and starting weeping tears of joy my friend.

Really enjoyed this! Always amazed how many great older courses from previous games are out there that us users newer to TGC haven’t seen before!

Obviously a very well-done course as previous posters have mentioned. Can I get a bit more granular and ask whether you considered hewing more faithfully to the real-life Highlands Links? As it stands, it’s a mix of faithful representations, “inspired bys” and originals. Not a criticism, just curious. I assume it would have been quite challenging to reproduce the real-life routing as HL is so famously linear out and back and the design tool is not. Was this the same reasoning as your Banff-ish course? Another very linear routing in real life.

I don't have the desire to recreate a full course, I do this for creativity. I wanted to have strong nods to a few of the more well known holes and then just try to represent Thompson's design style and philosophy in the original holes as well. I feel we get a lot of Ross/Mackenzie/Raynor representation, and being a Stanley fan and playing several of his courses I wanted to provide some of his design work as well. Hope this makes sense?

Makes sense for sure, although the selfish in me would of course also love to have the real deal. Can only make it out to the actual Ingonish so often!
