They also got the Tiger Woods deal but I thought the whole acquiring of HB studios was the bigger story for the game.
Congrats to HB who did what indi companies dream of. Make a successful game or two and get bought out by a larger company.

At least we now know the game will continue forward. Great news I believe.

I'm excited about this and I hope it means even more resources put into the game for ongoing improvement.

Could this have a negative effect on TGCTours? Meaning, will the admins here still have the same access to pulling scores/swing data stuff with 2K owning HB now? I have no idea how it works, but it was just my first thought when I read this.

I have plethora of thoughts but will keep them to myself for the time being until more is known, then I may keep them to myself then. I'm just a lowly scrub who happens to have been around here for a long time. Not going to fuel the fire of speculation and drama that is sure to come.
I would hate to be Doyley, Tim, Jeff and others right now. Hopefully they are getting more information than we are. To have sunk your life into this over 7 years to have it yanked away would be a real kick to the nuts. If that indeed happens, who knows maybe it will be great for them.
And to further kick them in the nuts having to deal with what is going to be months of speculation and drama on this site due to a total lack of communication from the developers. Hopefully we as members can respect that and not put them through too much misery over the coming months.

I also think this might mean a yearly release...I feel bad for our admin guys...it seems like it's quite a bit of work getting things ready when they drop a new game . Really, really appreciate them!

I was thinking that it made sense on certain things with 2k focusing more on the club passes, clothing, personal optimization and such while letting other things on the golf side slide more and more. They needed to show that there promotion value to the game and money making options beyond the original game purchase.
I hope it is a better game. Sadly I haven't played 2K21 in months. The reason is the tempo for me was just too inconsistent. I could play for fasts all the time and hit those regularly, but after a while it didn't feel like golf, having to club up, add massive loft and back spin, aim to the right of the pin, just to hit a fast shot which effectively nullified all that, to get the distance right. I wanted to play a game where I could hit perfect tempo 70-80 % of the time and after the last PC patch, that was simply not something I could accomplish. Kinda took all the fun out of the game for me.

What would be great is if 2K saw the potential value of this site as well, and started paying our Admin team to keep doing what they're doing. I'm sure 2K are aware of TGCTs existence. It's not impossible...
But I'm not going to speculate further. This is all some way off and a lot will happen in the interim. Overall, it's quite exciting news isn't it?

It's exciting news, if the course creator is still part of the plan.
If not, there will be no $60 from me to get 15 courses and then pay for DLC. I'd be out in a flash.

A little side note. I went back to load 2k21 today and there was a 3.5GB download? Did I miss something? I just did a full reinstall of windows a month ago and downloaded the game in full, and today a 3.5GB download?

All I know is that they removed some of the Arnold Palmer Invitational course creation assets that made it in the game that shouldn't have. Also, 2K announced that a new multiplayer mode is being added tomorrow, called "Divot Derby", so that could be a part of it as well. Probably some little performance fixes too, but that's it.

God forbid 2k would ever tell ya what they are for..
