TGC Tours is not going to use any of the Augusta versions out there going forward. This includes all CLV versions and Royce versions of the course. We are planning to use CLV's course he is currently designing as our new "Masters Tournament" course. If you'd like to follow the progress you can keep up with this thread.

Are you actually allowed to use the word “Masters”, Doyley?🙂 I've heard the big boys in Georgia are plotting to have the 8th month of the year replaced with another name in the Julian calendar or possibly removed all together!

What a bunch of pompous asses those people are. It just an effing golf course for christ sakes. And being force to tip toe, walk on eggshells around designing a damn replica is ridiculous. Let us have our fun playing computer courses. Hell most of us can’t even go and watch the actual tournament unless you know someone or pay 100x the value with a 3rd party. They can’t let us play computer courses unless their name is stamped all over it and millions go into their coffers. I wish somebody would buy a plot of land in Georgia and reproduce the same exact course settings and see what those arrogant people do then.

I think if someone had the balls to challenge it, they would win under fair play.
they have to actually prove damages or loss of income from the copy of the course.
its not like any of us are saying "Well, i can play Augusta on PGA2k21 so no point in going there to play it for real"

Augusta has very deep pockets, and TGCTours has one very shallow pocket at best, so I do not blame them from backing away from this fight. The only real way to protest this is not follow or watch the Masters and if enough people did that there might be a little injury to Augusta's pocketbook. Won't happen though.

I think the biggest thing you can take away from this is that the folk running a certain exclusive golf club in a Southern part of the USA are complete and utter wankers.

I really like this idea of TGC Tours creating its own separate but similar “Masters” experience. A friend of mine named Merv does this at his property in real life the same weekend as The Masters every year. We play a 4 round yard golf tournament called “The Masters at Merv’s” where the winner gets a green jacket and chooses the champions dinner the next year. We have some of the same traditions as the other tournament but some of our own as well. Looking forward to seeing the course that y’all choose to host the tournament with a tradition like one other.

I'm all for private clubs running them the way they want, but if you are going to make a pro-active effort to thwart a video game because it allows people to re-create your course and you don't like it because you are not making a few extra bucks, to hell with them. I could see it if it was "PGA Tour 2K21 featuring Augusta National" on the box, but that is not even remotely the case.

TGC/PGA 2K has been in a rapid incline in popularity for awhile. With 2K signing all these big names but getting rid of Augusta and only Augusta, I feel like there might be an agreement in a year or two.

Just a heads up. Anything called "old course" and even the word "pebble" is censored
