Hello everyone, I'm Crazycanuck1985, the head reviewer in charge of the course database here at TGCTours. Our outstanding team of reviewers take pride in keeping the database up-to-date and completely unbiased. Courses that are deserving to be in the database are marked as "Approved" and those that go above and beyond are marked as "Tour Worthy" and may have the chance at hosting an upcoming tour event.
If your course is not approved, and you are curious as to why it was not approved, please take the following steps:
1. Read the post below detailing the minimum requirements for an approved course. Also check out b101's video on the general do's and don'ts when it comes to getting your course approved.

TGCT Course Database Minimum Approval Requirements - Updated March 8th, 2021
Approved
General Requirements
- Total Par of 69-74
- Hole Pars of 3, 4, and 5
- Holes of the same par have a range of different yardages
- 9-hole courses and Par 3 courses are not currently being accepted
- If your course is a Real Course Recreation (RCR), it needs to be VERY accurate to qualify for approval.
- Tee shots and approaches shouldn’t have unavoidable obstructions
- Fairways should be reachable in any wind condition
- Reviewers recommend fairways at least 25 yards wide for enjoyability and playability, but it is not a requirement
- Light rough is not required, but if it is included, it should be mostly symmetrical with fairways and greens
- Bunkers should be fair (ie not impossible to get out of)
- Tee boxes should be flat
- Greens should not punish the player for carrying an approach on the front of the green (as in landing a shot on the front of the green should not roll off the back)
Pins
- Pins must be "legal" - meaning the single box in which the pin is located must not have any red slope. Also, the pin must be at least three grid squares from the edge of the green.
- Pins in the middle of large yellow or red slopes will not be approved
- Pins should be placed in multiple locations; not all pins on one pin set should be in the back right of the green, for example
- Pins should allow a fair chance to hit an approach close
- Please playtest to ensure pins are fair and playable.
Aesthetics
- There should not be any plants such as grasses on fairways, greens, cart paths, or tee boxes
- Brushwork should be generally smooth and clean
- Sculpting should be smooth and clean as well, with the exception of mountain ranges
- Reviewers recommend bunkers that don’t cut directly into multiple layers of rough and/or fairways
- Stock shapes may be used, but they should be blended and not used excessively
- Planting should blend well; the same tree or rock should not be used over and over again
- Cart paths must be smoothed out
- “Kinks” in splines should be mostly cleaned up, although one missed kink won’t result in an immediate disapproval
Again, please refer to the video above for a visual representation of some of these requirements.
