I don't know what Bryson DeChambeau's impact will truly be on golf as it goes into the future, but those that run the events are certainly making decisions based on how he plays right at this very moment... This is why I marked yes. Rules and tournament committees are already scrambling to adjust for Bryson’s length and unorthodox approach to the course. Hitting driver wedge every hole is a different way of playing golf. Not being penalized for being in 12” rough because you have a GW in on a 470yd hole while others play driver/7i is a big difference. Bryson has people thinking differently, regardless of current or future results.

The ratings will go up if he is leading round 1. That's a good thing.
My money is he will have some issues on sawgrass .

Overvalued lmao. Easy to say if you shoot 100 a round from the whites or only play video games. Golf is the hardest game period. You gotta play 4 days deal with changing conditions and whatever life throws at you. No other sport requires this. He's overated more than anything. No needle moved. Tiger has it pinned in the red. No pun intended. Certain people love to change things because of success no matter how short lived it is. Maybe they should go back to hickory shafts and the feathery ball. Just so everyone can feel better about themselves. test cricket goes for five days, other than that or golf I'm not aware of single events that run multiple days though.

I posed the OP just to get conversation going on the subject because I find it a very interesting time in golf but I’ll weigh in on what I think. I do think Bryson has set a new bar that others will follow. Does that mean everyone on tour will be bombers? Absolutely not, but I think you’ll see more young golfers coming up with huge power because it has obviously worked for him. I do not believe Bryson will become one of the GOATs. I think he has the skills to do it, clearly he is able to take over a tournament at any given moment like the GOATs did, but I think the very high level of his fellow competitors and other equally highly skilled golfers will come up and hold him back from full dominance. There’s just too many amazing golfers on tour for anyone to really separate themselves right now Yeah, there's like 10-15 guys with a legit chance to win every week and then there's always an outsider who plays great and throws his hat in the mix as well.

He is averaging two wins a year since he got his card and is currently holding a major title, overrated? That's plain ignorant, who knows he may fizzle out ala Rory/Jordan/any of the other "2nd comings" we have seen in golf, but right now he is the biggest name

Anyone ever watch a Bryson practice session on you tube with the long drive champ? He is a relentless worker and deserves everything he gets.

I bet on Morikawa this week but all eyes are on BAD. T6 and 4 back after Rd 1. A lot of holes yet to be played but in the mix early.

I'll admit when I'm wrong . I just don't watch golf like I used to being a Tiger fan. Grew up with him so it's hard to replace that.
BAD certainly was impressive on moving day at Sawgrass. I like he is involved with the crowd as well ( can't stand players who have no emotions). What impresses me the most is not his distance but his short game and putting. That putting stroke is straight as I have ever seen.
If he can stay healthy I think he could have a large influence on golf especially with the absence of Tiger.
That being said I gotta pull for Westwood even though he's a European 😜

His putter has a similar advantage to the putter adam scott used to use before it was banned

Bryson does not have staying power. He is going to be another golfer who got hot for a 12 to 18 month stretch. Then he will fade into a sideshow.
There are tons of names in the last 10 years who had runs for 1 or 2 years and then never came back. This is the latest one, it is just that he is a much more ridiculously over the top human being.

The short game and being able to play under pressure are the largest factors imo to victory. We also see the difference in how the players do when there are big crowds, so this past year will not be the deciding factor once we eventually get back to "normal".
