First of all, I want to welcome the new faces from the promotion event. I think there will be new faces, I have no idea how many spots were available on the kinetic but I am sure there is a least one of you, so if that one is you, welcome to the kinetic. It is tradition here on the kinetic to have something special waiting when we get a new influx of players, a course of style and beauty, a course that will literally take your breath away as you stand on the first tee, with it's outstanding views and planting. So I thought to myself, who would I get to design such a course for this weeks welcome and the first name to come to mind was Violinguy69, a designer known for his unique style and creativity. There was Old Henry's Shipyard, a course set in a old fashioned shipyard, there was Talking Rock Golf Club where the rocks actually spoke to you and who can forget Chestnut Log Country Club but we wont talk about what you had to step over on that course. Yes, Charles was the guy to design this weeks course and I am happy to say he was willing to do the job, just for you guys. In the run up to the event, I made that call to find out what he had done and as usual, I recorded every word for the inevitable history of this tour no matter what it was called book. "Chuck, have you finished the course for the promo event, I am so excited to hear about what you have done""I have finished" "Well don't keep me in suspense, what fantastical piece of work have you come up with this time""Plainfield" "Oh, my god, plane field, what an amazing idea, tell me more, is the course set in old abandoned airstrip, with runways as fairways""no" "Ohh, is the course actually set in the an old plane itself, how the hell did you manage that""No, the course is in a field, and it is plain" "I don't think I understand""Imagine a work of great art, then someone comes along and whitewashes over it, that's this course" "Huh""Imagine your favorite mean at a Italian restaurant but they chef has left out the sauce and all the ingredients except the pasta, that's this course" "I am a little bit confused"" Imagine going to your favorite nightclub but all the hottest women have already left and all your left with is the ....." "OK,OK, I get it"" I got to go now, I need a drink of non-flavored non-sparkling water, thanks for picking me to design the course for you" Something is wrong with Chuck, he has lost his mojo and unfortunately there is no time to change the venue. Normally here I would say have fun but I am not sure fun is the correct word in this situation but good luck anyway and spare a thought for Chuck and that he finds that missing mojo.

Wow really struggling. Very narrow fairways and hoping that stay on if you hit them. # 9 green is absolutely brutal if you land just short of the pin it will come all the way down off the front of the green. Almost aced the first par 3 and almost eagled 17. Battled back on the back nine to get to -3 in R1.

Haven't played my rounds but have done lots of practice (trying to get used to the new 60fps that was just unlocked in the last update). Wasn't sure if the course was just tough or I was having trouble adjusting to the smoother frame rate but I was all over the place with scores in practice. Think my best was 10 under and worst is maybe 2 or 3 over. I played the first 2 rounds of this weeks CC event to get a judge and went 15 under (4 under with double on #18, 11 under) so at this point I'm guessing its the course being tough. Really need to hit fairways and not get caught up on any of the big slopes on the greens.

My condolences to the real life members at Plainfield. It must not be a lot of fun playing mostly blind tee shots, having putts roll into bunkers on 11, or having drives land in the middle of the fairway only to kick backwards into the rough. The tournament environment is perfect but the LiDAR data needed some smoothing IMO. Fingers crossed that -5 doesn’t make the cut.

LOL Maybe I should have done a little more with the fairways, but I did have to do some major work on the greens just to get them where they are now. There were several that wouldn't support four pins. I tried hard to keep the greens as severe as Ross/Hanse made them, but for this game, the originals were too crazy. For all the bit@#ing I do about blind shots in course design, this course sure has a lot of 'em. A regular at that course (and a member here) told me it's a mountain course in the NYC suburbs. He couldn't be more correct.

Well this is one hell of an introduction to the Kinetic for me. Haven't seen anything like the first two greens in the CC-Tour haha. Doing some more practice rounds tonight then for real tomorrow, if I finish within 5 shots of he cut I'd be happy I think.

Three weeks on the Kinetic Tour and this is zero fun. Can't wait to get back demoted back to CC. These courses are all tricked up and goofy.

It is something that takes a huge amount of learning to play. In CC, I missed a total of 2 cuts. I missed 7 of my first 8 cuts in Kinetic. It starts kind of with the clubs you decide to play. A lot of courses won't allow for you to play shorter clubs. From there, it's just putting the ball in play and not going aggressive at every single pin

While I agree some of these courses can be and are difficult, i totally disagree they are “tricked” up and “goofy”. If you want to see some goofy courses play the first couple you see when you check out new courses that were recently uploaded. Think Dan does a wonderful job on selecting these for this tour even though some will play very difficult. It provides variety on this lengthy schedule.

9th hole killed me this week. Bogey first round and then a triple in the second! -7 total so not good enough I suspect. Pretty brutal but nice course and amazed at some of the scores posted already

Played opening rounds and was more of the same as all my practice rounds. It seems the difference between struggling to shoot even and go 6 or more under is razor thin for me on this course. First round I had nothing going on the front and somehow limped home on the back in 3 under. Front 9 of second round was scrappy too but didn't really make big mistakes and took advantage of good shots. Back 9 I got on a major roll late in the round before playing 18 like an idiot for my only bogey of the round. But still a 7 under second round is pretty strong I think. If I can shoot another 10 under over the last 2 rounds and get to 20 total I'll be happy. . .that's what I was aiming for after all of my practice rounds, to try and average 5 under a round in the tournament.
This being my second week in Kinetic is definitely a reality check that these courses, especially the greens, are NOT the CC courses and require a lot more patience and knowing when you can go for it vs just play for par.
