Wow, just saw this, and I would enjoy participating if picked, but looks like a great response from a lot of people already. Might as well put myself out there. I'm working on my third course now, so this would be good incentive to keep moving and then take this on. Regardless, I look forward to seeing what comes out of all this - what a solid list of people. Did you pick Slovenia? Maybe for future if not  |

UPDATE: There are now 46 people registered for the event with 11 days remaining to apply! That is truly impressive interest, thank you.
I'm surprised that nobody noticed there were 28 letters in that anagram... which mean, YES, we are expanding the field to 28 selections for the field.
But wait, there's more!
With all of the interest in this contest, and all of the designers in this growing community, we are trying very hard not to have the contests be "exclusive" unless it's necessary to do so (World Cup, etc). Therefor, everybody that signs up will get to compete!
But wait, how will that work?
All of the designers that don't get selected in the 28 guaranteed contest spots can opt to "stay in" if they choose, and we will then randomly assign those designers with the same 28 locations that the rest of the field has, giving them a chance to build a National Treasure course by the same deadline as the contest rules state. We are then going to hold 4 "Wild Card" spots to be added to the contest field, bringing the total contest to 32. Those wild card spots will be filled by 4 designers from the group that stayed in and impressed us the most with their entries. Once they are in the field of 32, they get treated like the rest of the field and go through the judging process along with all the other courses.
But wait, why offer this extra chance?
This community keeps getting bigger and bigger, and we are seeing "new name" designers or "first timers" produce some astonishing courses, but if we never let them in contests, they'll never get the chance to shine. However, neither can we expect the field to be unlimited and have the judging panel review 50+ courses for a contest, it's just never going to be feasible. Doing it this way allows everybody to remain involved and get exposure, while all of the designers that didn't get selected in the first round of 28 still have a chance to participate and "prove" that they should be chosen and considered a threat in the future.
We hope that this is an acceptable compromise, and leaves a lot of you that were nervous about getting in with hope that you can fight your way in even if we don't select you initially. Prove us wrong, we welcome it.

I don't have the portfolio (other than a little WIP in Design League), so I have no expectations of getting into the main field. However, I'll definitely stay in!
