Knowing that I'm going to make my first Kinetic cut in a few weeks, I went ahead and played rounds 3 and 4 last night. Round was a solid, if unimpressive, 12 par/6 birdie round that saw too much of the GIR, miss 15-25' putt, tap in par golf that has plagued me in recent events. Things heated up early in the final round and I made the turn at 6 under...unfortunately 3 bogeys on back were only offset by 2 birdies and I finished the week with a scoreline of 64-65-66-67 to almost certainly come up 4 or 5 shots short of my first Kinetic promo mark. Time to get ready for the humps and bumps of LiDAR at Plainfield CC next week!

I must say that when I played my practice round this week, I wasn't really sure about this course. However after another practice round and the first 2 rounds, I am slowly falling in love with it. I love the variety and strategy involved on every hole! Sitting at -19 after 2 rounds. For it being my second week up here in the bigs I am pretty happy. Looking forward to the round 3 and 4 set ups. If only the superintendent could do something about those damn bugs on 9 tee. They are tearing me up! That hole was too easy so relocated some bees to even the odds. š

I must have played two different courses by mistake! The first round was a slide on ice, a bogey-free -11 and I was feeling strong, sinking putts left and right. Then round two happened???? The wind was up a little, but that does not explain my misery; two bogeys, two doubles (one a four-putt from mid-range), and some treacherous pin positions, for a nifty -3. I think -14 will make the cut but I had visions, oh I had visions. . . . .

I am excited to report that not only did Victor Lane make the cut, but he was so excited he rushed out to the course to play rounds 3 and 4 tonight, and it went very well.
After making the cut at -12, Victor shot a -14 over the weekend with only one bogey, pulling a -8 in R3 and a bogey-free -6 in R4 with higher winds and tougher pins.
I'm very excited about this event and highly enjoyed it all around, from the great course to the setup conditions, it was a lot of fun!

For me that was a very strange and kind of unsettling tournament week, with two different players showing up. Rounds of -11, -3, -2, -11 for -27 total. I played the high wind round 4 much better than the default round 3, and to me it seemed like I was playing the same way. As of now that is worth a promo mark, but I have a feeling it won't stand up through the weekend.
