You guys must be using a different driver than me! LOL At 267 max distance, I found it very hard to clear that creek, and if I accidentally hit it slow.... well that hill that makes it roll back is just mean!
You need to get that Bridgestone 294 yard driver and start hitting bombs This is true. Long and wrong is way better than short and wrong.

Visually an impressive track. Interesting variations in large to small landing areas and greens. Round one was a spotless -6, tempo was good, but the greens rolled out and left most birdie/eagle putts ~20+ ft. Doglegs and fairway breaks favor the big hitters that can milk the overswing consistently (my sweetspot is 97-101%). Round 2 from the front tees tempo and feel was all jacked, left my first drive into the wind 228 in the right rough and barely recovered for double, finishing even. People scoring low must have really studied the greens, because I locked in on a couple short approaches, only to watch a ball checking up 5-10' from the cup find ridge and roll 40' to the back/side of green. Some of the pin placements were straight evil, either in the yellow, which I feel is more fair than the 2-3 that were on the transition where a putt 1' long was really 15' long. Like I said, maybe more than one practice round and better study on where NOT to land could have led to better lags and scoring opportunities, but Round 2 separated the skilled players from the scramblers.

The cut line seems to be as low of a score I can remember seeing. Course is easy, but not THAT easy. What gives with the incredible scores? Maybe the lack of big trouble like water hazards and OB?

I think it's nice to have a low-scoring course for once! We'll all relish the experience we had here once we tee off at Cherrybrook.

16-4-429. Like the 8th hole, a creek cuts across to make the tee shot uncomfy but it’s easily clearable with driver – the wisest choice. We’re still left with a good 140-150 yards left headed uphill to one of the calmer greens.

Hey Josia, yeah I remember the 267-yard days when I had that driver - memories... -I was thinking of players using drivers between 275-295 max but yes, I'd be playing it safe with a 267 if I used that. I usually play safe on par 3's and par 4's and go for par 5's - so I usually play clubs with more accuracy with exceptions. I have the TaylorMade driver that goes 287 carry and the hybrid that goes 223 in case of any long par-4 where I'm standing in rough and need a 200 yard approach. My other clubs are more for accuracy. Oh my 3-wood goes 248 also. So those were my reference numbers when talking drivers and woods doing this or that - driver landing area to me is usually 285-300 including the bounce n' roll after carry. Last week playing Ben's cool water course, I did what you said - on the dogleg left with that big pond splitting the fairway and green - I hit a light slow and I never was thinking water and then I clear it but the wind just catches it - holds it - throws it down onto a hill and it bounces backwards into the pond. One of two water balls for me at Playa Saona. That's some sneaky bad luck but fun-I expect those quirks in golf.

This course was a really wicked scorefest this week. I'm finishing up at a respectable -27, most weeks that would rank quite high no matter which division you're in. Especially happy to finish with a -10 round 4, with a -5 in the last 6 holes. That little spurt of scoring could have seen me get a promotion mark that sends me up to CC-G. Gonna wait and see, but I'm happy with the effort I was able to get out of myself this week.
-8, -3, -6, -10 = -27.

CC-D
-11/-8/-15/-12
-46 Total
Easily my best showing on TGCT and staring down my first win on the tour. I was guaranteed a promotion this week with a top 20 so I came to the conclusion that this week was probably the best chance I had at getting a win for a while. After a solid performance in the first two rounds I started doing some extra practice rounds and take notes. The work payed off as I shot a new PB in R3 (-15) and shot -12 in R4 with high winds which are my Achilles heel. Other than a few bogeys throughout the first three rounds I am completely satisfied with my performance and hope that the score holds up for a win.

Wow. I took you guys advice and bought that Bridgestone. Surprisingly I could hit it! I got cut at +7, but just went out and played round 3 with the bridgestone just to see what would happen and popped out a 3 under!
(and crossed the creek on 16 by a long shot!)

-22 under for the week with 8 bogies which puts me like 60-something in CC-D. Feel pretty frustrated as that's now 19 bogies and 2 doubles in my last 8 rounds since getting promoted to CC-D, tempo is just all over the place right now it feels like.
Hopefully can find some sort of groove next week, practice rounds have been going ok at least.
