Are there other factors, other than your thumb stick input that affects the result. I ask because I played round 1 of the current CC event yesterday. I have a +12 handicap and usually shoot within a few shots either way of par. My score for the 1st round was 18 over par. My highest score since maybe my 1st week with the game. My timing was so far off from my norm, with many fast and slows all the way to the limit. I had never had this before and couldn’t sense any extreme deviation from my typical thumb stick input. Today I played round 2 and shot par, an 18 shot improvement, and consistent with my typical play. Has anyone else had this degree of swing timing deviation? Assuming my thumb stick input was not the cause for such extreme deviation, what else could create such inconsistent results?

I have found that you can have inconsistent swing timing on Xbox from time to time. I would imagine that that it is present on PC and PlayStation as well.
When I find myself in a round and my timing is way off, I quit the round and restart the game and that generally helps quite a bit.

Yes, there are other factors. There are random times where things will be off, in my experience it’s usually to where your normal perfect swing gives you fasts. Of course you’ll also get slows, but it’s because of having to slow the swing down. Recently mine was pretty bad in a round, just tried to play through it...then I got a blue error screen and had to relaunch the game. Swing tempo was totally back to normal after that. So I do think restarting the game can possibly help, it worked another time for me too....but not every time. I feel like maybe at times the server gives you the default tempo or something, which is why I get fasts since my calibration is firmer than the default.Sometimes you just need to wait it out and not play anything important. Do not recalibrate or else you will be doing it constantly. When tempo returns to normal, your new calibration will be off and you’ll have to recalibrate AGAIN to get the old tempo back. I’ve been down that hole, trust me you don’t want that lol.

Oh yes, the calibration trap - I once had a perfect calibration for my game and then I stupidly recalibrated; never found it again...

The trouble with this Tempo Swing, is that it doesn't allow for individuality. Everyone is trying to swing the same way to achieve a perfect swing, which works for some, but not others, because we are not all using the same system. The swing on TGC1 in my mind was perfect, and fun to use. Apart from being easy, in the sense of hitting straight shots fairly regularly, it was fun to use, and many players in those days had their own swing and method for customising their shots, which is something you haven't been able to do with all versions since. I haven't played any Tours now for over a year as I simply don't enjoy playing this game anymore, because for me, it doesn't feel like golf anymore. You are always battling with something that should be natural to you, and that's your swing. And in this game it is way too inconsistent.

I have been finding that my swing plane also seems to affect my tempo a little bit. It seems to me the straighter my swing plane the easier it is for me to achieve perfect tempo. I noticed it on putts as well, where a straighter swing line makes it easier for me to get the pace correct. It also seems that Tempo can vary slightly not only from course to course, but from shot to shot. My guess is that larger objects, and wind animations can reduce frame rates? Not a tech guy at all, but I notice some courses lag on consoles when overly planted. I have went to taking at least one practice swing to figure out where the tempo is for that shot. I won't actually hit it until I get the feel for the tempo on that shot. It will take a little longer to get through a round, but it has helped my scores immensely. I went from CCC to Kenetic in like a 8 week span including switching consoles, and trying to learn the game all over again.
Restarting the game if it gets goofy does also help, but if that doesn't solve it, than I would try recalibrating.

I never had any issues with the swing in TGC1, but had swing issues with every version since. I could play 5 rounds on the trot with TGC1, because it was enjoyable to play. Play one 1 round with this game, and I've had enough.

I get what your saying and it can be frustrating for any of us. When I say the tempo changes, I am talking fractionally meaning I can't tell if it is me or the game 98% of the time. It's a matter of playing style. I do not mind taking my time and grinding over every shot as it simulates how I would play in a competitive situation in real life, where you may constantly be adjusting little things. Even in TGC 1 I never sat and played through 5 rounds in a sitting. I would respectfully disagree if you are saying the golf swing was better in TGC1 then the current iteration.
But I can say we all agree that the mechanics are more difficult in this game, especially in the harder settings. I know it caught me off guard for sure, but now that I have had about six months with it I personally love it. I will also say that the tempo is much better on the next gen console speaking on my experience on PS5 and others experience on the XBox Series X. I am sure 2K is listening to the community and they will make improvements on future iterations, especially since I am assuming this game has exceeded expectations from a sales perspective...or at least we hope.
