Or maybe the superintendent was just doing a bad job... It doesn't help that this area has tough summers to maintain high quality turf. Very easy for disease to spread once it gets going. And I agree there should be a fescue texture and/or surface. If you could just spline areas of fescue grass that would be ideal. Maybe it's too much for the game to process. My PS4 sounds like it's about to take off it's so loud when I'm playing some of the better courses... you should hear my laptop when I am running it on Chrome. It doesn't help that I often do it during work zooms though...
Speaking of superintendents, Jerry is back. I saw a vid of his come up in my recommended on YT earlier.
That's wonderful, everybody's favorite 2k21 superintendent. Not sure why he stopped being active...

Yea I'm not a fan of that look. I love the waste areas and native areas on a course, but dead looking grass all over the place is not for me. I would just clean up the in play areas. Anything in between holes leave, that looks great, but right around the green or bunker faces I would want it to be grass. A lot of people seem to like that look so it's just my opinion. How the course plays is much more important to me than how it looks. Unfortunately that seems to get overlooked too often...

You can see in the background that when the beach isn't in play the bunkers are faced with unbroken grass more. It's just the beach-y area that's more broken up, and the areas 10 or more yards off the fairways.

What I am doing, outside of the holes directly in the dunes, is facing the bunkers with unbroken heavy rough and then fading them into the native areas. What do you think?

I think this looks great. Keep up the great work with your hole designs and you'll have another excellent course.

Thanks LucasEatWorld for the playthrough on your stream, appreciate it! Definitely some things to still work on, but really happy with how this course has turned out. I'm going to change the lighting to brighten up the course a little, but not too much and move the sun over the ocean which brightens up the course quite a bit. Notes I took during your playthrough were the first part of 1 fairway does need to be flattened out. I need to smooth out some edges to make the fairways look a little bit cleaner. Might mess around with some different textures for the fairways too. I'm gonna make hole 2 a bit tougher driving hole. Really make you think about taking driver off the tee. Might add a waste bunker to the right like you suggested. The bunkers in front of hole 3 are just for looks. Not sure if I'l do walking bridges between the waste areas, maybe. That was some shot on 4. That's the right way to play that hole. Run it up from the left side. Straight at that green with a long club forces the ball to the right. I like your suggestions for hole 5. I brought the water in from the ocean to that pond and brought up the edge of the water to that green. The idea is for short shots to roll off into the water like you were saying and it wasn't sculpted well enough for that, problem fixed. The fairway to the left and back of that green is the same idea as a lot of green complexes throughout the course. You only ended up in one situation like that because you played so well, but on hole 3 you went long of the green. Difficult up and down from there because of the hill. It helps if you hit that slope and penalizes you for going long or left. Like on hole 5 it helped your ball roll right next to the hole. Two yards left and you're looking at a tough up and down. Hole 6 is supposed to look like a drivable 4, but it's very difficult to hit that green in 1. You hit the perfect spot on that fairway to land on the green and still came up short. That bunker to the right is a terrible spot to be. You can play short for a flat approach shot to a blind green, get over the hill to the left is a smaller flattish landing area or just go for the green and make an up and down for birdie like you did, but that brings more trouble into play. Agree with the suggestions you made for 8. I'l see how visible I can make that center bunker. I doubt I can make the right bunker visible. That hole like many holes on the course will play very different in different wind conditions. I'l also extend that green to the left, that's a smart idea. Hole 11 has split fairways that once again allows the hole to play differently in windy conditions. The hill to the right allows you to get down the hill into a strong headwind and the more narrow fairway to the left is more of a direct line and provides a better angle into the green with a flatter landing area. Hole 12 needs the island fairway because of windy conditions. A strong headwind won't allow you to drive that green otherwise going for the green is the right play. Pretty tough up and down all around that green and it's pretty small. A pull should get you all the way down that hill into the water too bringing big numbers into play. I think Hole 16 needs a center hazard instead of just that strip of rough. Gonna mess around with that and see what I can do to make it a different strategy. Hole 17 plays different depending on hole locations and wind. There's two greens on that hole, not sure if you noticed that. The left fairway gets you closer for the longer pin locations on the left green. Provides a better and shorter angle into the right green as well, but it's a tougher tee shot. Hole 18 has hole 10's fairway to the left and hole 1's fairway to the right, but straight away is the only option there. Long uphill hole with awesome views back down the course from the green. Thanks again for the playthrough and comments. It was very helpful and I will be making some adjustments for the better thanks to you. Implement some other suggestions I've gotten to improve the course and I should be able to publish the finished course some time next week. Congrats on getting the win in CC-B this week, a tough accomplishment. A lot of good players out there.

Made a bunch of changes over the last week or so thanks to a lot of great feedback, thanks again to those who have played the beta and have provided feedback. I changed the lighting. Later in the morning and the the sun is now over the ocean, sun in your face on the first tee. Changed the fairway texture from 11 to 26. Made significant changes to holes 2, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, and 16, still not sure what to do with 17, I kind of like it, unique hole design, but the strategy seems to be hard to pick up on. Improved a lot of sight lines and continued planting the plot. Still a decent amount to do. Got rid of all of the birch trees. Planted all of the bunker lips, smoothed all of the bunker sculpting, smoothed fairway bends, and made sure all of the green/fairway transitions were good. Hopefully be able to get this design published by the end of next week, but I'm in no rush to publish it, I want to get this one right. Looking to work on a design league 6 hole course too so I will be spending some time on that with the deadline approaching in a couple of weeks. Here's some pictures of the updates. 1st Tee Shot 3rd Tee Shot 10th Tee Shot 10th Fairway 11th Tee 11th Fairway 12th Tee Shot 12th Fairway 16th Tee Shot 16 4-6 Iron 16th 3 Wood

It's getting there fellas. Haven't worked on this design in a couple of days now. Started my 6 hole design for the Design League 2 Contest, countryside theme and I'm going old school severely undulating push up greens, challenging risk/reward dogleg fairways, A.W. Tillinghast inspired. Plan on turning that into a 18 hole course similar to Somerset Hills with the two vastly different nines. As far as this project goes, still need to finish planting, keep play testing the course, and I'm thinking about turning 17 into a traditional Cape hole. Get rid of that second fairway to the left, wide fairway to the right and you'll need to take on as much water as you feel comfortable with to get closer to the green complex. Make it a 300 yd carry over the cove to get a wedge in. I think I may need to mess around with burying some trees in the Dunes area too. The grass doesn't render from far away and on some holes with other holes in the background it doesn't look great.

Tecumseh Hills will be released next week after two months of working on this design on and off. Thank you to everybody that has helped give their feedback and tips along the way, appreciate it.
