I cant believe this day has arrived, what had seemed like an impossible dream has come true, despite all the roadblocks on the way. The admins did not want this, the Irish government did not want this, they fought us every step of the way but we never gave up, thanks to a letter writing campaign(Amazing the amount of fake names my secretaries came up with) and a social media blitz(amazing the amount of social media platforms my secretaries have on their phones) it is finally happening. Excuse me a second, I need to wipe a tear from my eyes, The tgct tours is finally coming home, well to my home as this weeks Kinetic event is in Cork. Not only home to this hmammoth but home to a whole family of hmammoths, friends of hmammoths, a city full of hmammoths, there are old mammoths, young mammoths and everything in between, welcome everyone to Cork.
Cork is the biggest county in Ireland, it has the longest coast line in Ireland, the second deepest natural harbor in the world and such a rich and varied maritime history. Cork was the last stop of the Titanic, it was off the coast of Cork where the Lusitania was sunk. The Air India bombing was also off the coast of Cork. Then there is the Fastnet area itself, there was the Whiddy island disaster in 1979 and that very same year, the Fastnet yacht race tragedy. And now, on that very same coastline we have the very first tgctours event in Cork, another piece of history in the making maybe.
Now many of you has asked, since we are in Cork this week, could you stay in one of my castles. Now while I do have the room, not just for the Kinetic tour but the entire membership of tgctours itself, for security reasons, that is not possible. It is such a sad state of affairs but I need to stay in a different building each night, randomly selected that day so I can be safe from nefarious characters out to do me harm(Designers). But there is no reason you can not visit one of my fantastic castles or mansions, just make sure you stay at least ten feet away from the security fences as trespassers are generally shot on sight but you might still be able to see the top of the building over the fences.
I suppose I should mention this weeks designer whose name does not seem to be working when I try to tag him. Anyway, Allan is not actually from Cork, he is originally from a place called Tipperary, now I am sure he has moved on from there and moved to somewhere more cheerful, somewhere a bit more brighter like, Albania, or Alabama or Angola because no one stays in Tipperary unless the really have to. I am sure some of you might have heard of the song Its a Long Way to Tipperary which was a popular marching song sung by British soldiers during the first world war as they marched towards certain death during another bloody trench battle. What you may not know are the rest of the lyrics " Its a long way to Tipperary and I would still rather be here" says it all really. What else is Tipperary famous for, oh year, The Rock of Cashel, yes indeed, the biggest tourist attection in Tipperary is a rock. Now I hear you say, but Cork has the Blarney stone and isn't a stone smaller than a rock, and that is true, but the Blarney stone is known for it's magical powers of giving people the gift of the gap, the ability to talk, to tell stories, to exaggerate but I have to be honest, I have been to Blarney many times, and never have felt it to have any effect on me but it is a magical stone and not just a dumb rock. I don't want to be completely negative though, there has been good things to come out of Tipperary, there is Bulmers(known as Magners to all ye English) and there is nothing I love more than a ice cold Bulmers on a hot sunny day. Of course Bulmers was invented to drown out the sorrow of living in Tipperary and to this day it is very hard to find a sober person there but for us in Cork, it is a refreshing cider to be drunk in moderation with friends and family. Lets see, what else is good about Tipperary, oh year, its not Dublin.
It took a lot of effort for me to get a tour even held here in Cork, so I expect you all to be on your best behavior. It will reflect poorly on me if stories of misdeeds and misadventures reach the media and I will not tolerate that. There will be a life time ban for anyone that brings shame to the Kinetic tour and more importantly shame to me. So behave yourselves, enjoy your visit to Cork, and maybe for your own safety, don't go in the water. Have fun all.
