Lol, always fun tiptoeing into a tournament thread after finding out one of my courses is being used.
Apparently I'm worthy of being despised and I just threw a course together without any resources. I see all is well and things never change.
You made me miss a cut (again) Bring out the pitchforks!

This game is still so g-dang frustrating. -1, -5, -6, -6 for a -18 and yet another missed cut by a shot or two. See y’all next week.

...and I just threw a course together without any resources. *sigh...* Craig, this is not what I said. I simply asked "what resources" were used, never even considered saying "no resources were used" because that's just a ridiculous and obviously incorrect statement. I know different courses have different levels of publicly available information, something I learned the hard way trying to figure out CGC green complexes with basically nothing more than pictures and write-ups. That said, I also know that heatmaps are becoming more and more available these days, so I was curious as to whether you were able to find those (or something similar) to use on this course. Given the severity and nuance of each surface, it would be cool to see how those green/heatmaps were translated into the game, or if not, how you went about the tedious task of translating photos/videos/etc. as best you could into the game. I found your WIP thread and did some reading, which gave me the answer I was looking for, I think. Guess I was just asking so that someone who knew better could give a simple reply, but lesson learned, I'll just go figure it out myself next time.
Here's a nice side-by-side comparison of #1 from the WIP thread vs an irl picture for anyone out there interested, which as you can see is pretty spot on. There might be more "pinable" room in that middle thumbprint irl than in the game, but I doubt the game's terrain sculpting limitations allow for slopes as steep as the ones surrounding the thumbprint to flatten out quickly enough for as much possible "pinable" space as what it might be irl - which is probably only like 3 or 4 more feet of the requisite slope grade, at most, so not like it matters much. I did see a photo of #1 irl with a pin in the front part, and can't off the top of my head remember if that location is available in-game or if it's all red - plus they could have just put that pin there for the irl photo without any intention of actually playing to it - but regardless, the level of accuracy in replication here is cool to for this golf nerd to see.
Anyway, good job with the course. Guess I'll lead with that next time to avoid confusion, though it is a good reminder that even questions with reasonable intention can get skewed in interpretation around here. Cheers.

I wouldn't take it personally, my statement is more a conglomeration of 6 years of takes by anyone who has had a bad round. If anything the comment about pins struck me, considering they are the exact US Open pins, except in instances where I actually softened them a little bit.
Considering no one has suggested I be shot yet, things are trending quite positively.

Nothing more fun than poking around these threads b101Yep, I helped out with the build of this one and Craig used a ridiculous amount of resources. I've played the course and can tell you every detail is dead-on accurate. If you think it's bad, go build something worthy of hosting 6 US Opens and get back to us.

Allowed creativity on approaches while punishing mistakes. Beautiful opener

Well it was fun getting back to number one for a while, time to be the chaser again I felt as though I played this tournament very well for the most part, especially from tee to green. But I made a few dumb decisions, putted horribly with any putt of length (I finished with a 20% long putt stat) and had my share of very fast downswings which didn't help. Finished at -36, which in all honesty should have been considerably better than that. The course was really well made, a cracking recreation of a notoriously tough course. It's a real beast that required every bit of concentration to find the correct areas to have birdie looks. Sure, some pins were a bit fruity! but I never thought that any of them were totally inaccessible with the correctly shaped shot, even playing with a fast tempo as I have to now. Good luck all.

Fwiw, I really enjoyed this, as well as your other RCRs. They are spot on. Platinum isn’t supposed to be easy, I had fun grinding out every shot and having to land everything in the perfect spot. Pick your spots to be aggressive, don’t miss in the wrong spot, and you can score here

Scrubbed around to make the cut on the number. Then scrapped some more in the final two rounds to finish at -18 for a 50-something place finish. But I did get an ace on #7 in the 4th round! Tough challenge and I enjoyed the course and setup throughout.

Worst score for me since handing in my tour card qualification.
Why ? Well for me this was really tough, beautiful challenging but tough Greens and putting nightmare, chefs fault Conditions nightmare, again my fault.
So I had a ponder over my rounds and game for a few days. As a fast red player for all my shots ( which I make no apologies for) This was how I played the game to get the best out of myself for scoring. Accurate for driving. Accurate for girs, but not always the best for perhaps real pin seeking.
So I decided to play a few rounds going for perfects apart from driving. One step at a time.
I have to say, even though it will probably take a bit of time and my scoring may dip from its average. I’m really enjoying the feeling the game is giving me with this play style.
Getting a ball close this way feels so much better. Like I’m really pin seeking, than my old way.
So thanks to the designer(s) for making chef even more in love with this game and tour.
Ps excuse any crappy grammar I have Irlen syndrome. Never going to post again of this size took me forty mins.
Keep it Culinary

Pretty fun leaderboard at the top this week - lots of guys with a shot to take it just falling short while Garcia birdies 17 and 18 which might be the difference.

Can't decide who I despise more at present. The designers of these stupid courses we're forced to endure week in, week out, the schedulers who combine these ridiculous courses with the most unsuitable conditions for the stupid courses, or HB for taking a potentially superb game and destroying it with unplayable tempo issues for a select few whilst others clearly have no issue with tempo at all. I'll say all of you at this point. The only reason I'm playing the game is force of habit, not enjoying this tour one bit. Thanks all. Dont believe anyone here is forcing you to play..

Wow, I somehow managed to dodge every bullet fired at me this week. Astonished that I walked away a winner here considering the calibre of players that had a really good chance of overtaking me. Makes a change from last season when I seemed to be cruelly pipped by countback on a biweekly basis
