So I had 2 demo marks last week, and made the cut on Elite this week (which should wipe one away), but hasn't been wiped (still with 2). Is the issue that occurred today also reasoning for that issue? It's likely this part runs after the part that was looping but since it was looping and I had to break out of it - it never got to clear strikes. Keep in mind, I don't do any of the coding so I'm just best-guessing based on what I've gathered from talking to Tim over the years.

I understand that - I just find the inconsistencies frustrating. The last time this happened all demotions were reversed. But this time they aren’t? I know it’s a system issue but it seems a little unfair that this week we decide to just roll with all demotions warranted or not. I know there isn’t a way to investigate each individual case but why can’t all demotions be reversed like last time? I’m sure it throws off the balance of societies a bit but it will balance itself back out in a couple of weeks. I’m extremely grateful for all that goes in to this and know you’re doing it out of the goodness of your heart and taking up your free time. But I will say, a lot of us take this seriously as the most competitive gameplay available. That’s a testament to TGC Tours. It is the #1 society for competitive play on this game. To just get unlucky on the one week after a total gameplay overhaul feels like a bit much. Not sure why we can’t follow previous precedent but it’s certainly not my place to decide. Yep... after not being "rewarded" by a promo bug on the way up to Plat from Kinetic and reading that we experienced the bug again this week I was thinking "I'm fine just like all of those last time around"... Nope. Different this time? Feels extremely harsh. Not feeling really rewarded for going out and participating the week straight after the update knowing my game would be worse post update... Literally had the worst round of my TGC career at the worst time. One bad round and gotta work up all over again. I really do appreciate that there is so few of you (literally 3 at most if I'm not mistaken) that are even remotely able to do anything about this and this certainly is not your job... so please don't take my frustration as any sort of indication I'm not appreciative of all the work you all put in. But after setting a precedent twice already this year in regards to the bug it feels like a serious low blow now to get knocked down after one bad week. Not sure what else to say, pretty gutted. Yeah, choosing to take no action this week of all weeks is extremely harsh. The course for platinum was one of the hardest courses I’ve played. Add in the mechanics overhaul it was downright cruel. This feels like we’re rewarding those who did not play. I don’t think anyone would care if demotions were reversed this week. If it’s a matter of not having enough time to identify who was impacted I’m more than happy to help go through the bottom 20% of finishers in each tour and see if they are now in a lower tour. I try not to get bent out of shape over much related to a video game but I believe there has to be another option.

Boys, Doyley has been very transparent in his explanation of what happened and why he can't reverse demo marks that maybe weren't warranted. He's also said it's not that he doesn't want to reverse them, it's that he can't.
It's also extremely unfair to bring up the tempo change as that had nothing to do with TGCTours. I get the frustration, but stuff happens, and before you say this doesn't apply to you, I have 2 more demo marks than I would have if everything worked perfectly all year.

Was wondering why I had 4 demo marks for my 1'st (edit, 2'nd. made cut no marks on 1'st event, old guy memory) Kinetic event since being promoted. Now 1 away from being demoted back to cca...sitting this week out it looks like. Next week too. Not playing well, not risking it. No desire to go back to the CC birdie fest grind.
Not complaining, nothing but appreciation and thanks for the guys who run this site. I understand sh%$ happens. Just bad timing for me i guess.

I was unfairly demoted but I still appreciate all that they do for the Tours. I think I have been unfairly demoted twice now and others who should have been demoted months ago were not because of the bug... But in the end I still get to play my 4 rounds and scoring doesn’t change. It made it easier this week for me with my demotion. TGC still supplies us with a great Tour so can’t complain too much with all of the work they do.

I stupidly played last weeks tournament having not played any rounds after the tempo change (unrelated I know). So in CC-H after a T-34 finish the week prior, I then came dead last and received 4 demotion marks instead of just the 2 I should have had. Luckily still kept my spot in CC-H and I should make the cut this week after playing a bit more with tempo changes.
I have read a fair bit in this thread to understand why its happened. Not ideal but you will get back to the league you belong in if you're good enough !

Played the first 3 rounds last week looking at gaining my 3rd promo mark on Kinetic but couldn't find time for the 4th round. Gone from 2 promo marks to 2 demo marks ! I thought that was extremely harsh until I saw this thread.. No complaints from me guys, appreciate all the time and effort that goes into running this.

It's also extremely unfair to bring up the tempo change as that had nothing to do with TGCTours. Right - and I believe we both praised him for his work. Doesn’t make what happened any less unfair. It doesn’t need to be 1 side or the other Exactly. Please don't mistake my moaning with the notion I feel like I'm being singled out or that the Admin owe me anything. Far from the case but I still think its acceptable to be upset that I got cut from plat on 3 demo marks rather than the normal 5. Also, I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe that the tempo change had nothing to do with TGC Tours... I don't think anyone outside of those who played TGC even knew what "playing the fast" was. The only place to find info on the patch was on TGC Forums from Doyle... all HB/2K said was there was a big patch lol... The details all came from TGC. Regardless, its irrelevant to this issue, just something that adds to my frustration. Obviously totally separate to the demotion bug issue but to say that TGC had nothing to do with the red fast patch is a joke. Everyone here at TGC has been (rightfully) calling for the update since Day 1. I don't think anyone playing in the 2K E-series Society or Barstool Society has ever asked HB/2K to patch the fast. Lets also not forget that someone involved with TGC and HB/2K had set up twitter polls asking the percentage of people playing the fast just days before the patch... Just a coincidence surely. TLDR: I'm upset to get cut unfairly, have no hard feelings towards admin as this is obviously not their fault, I thoroughly enjoy the patch and think that it instigated by TGC and that is why it happened, and it is a GOOD THING that the patch happened.

So is it safe to say there is not going to be a fix for this? I volunteered to help identify those impacted and know others have offered up their time as well - but considering I haven't heard anything and nothing has been posted I guess we are all just "going to have to make due"
The work that goes in to this is awesome and for the most part well run. I don't know many others who could do it to be honest. But this week is going to leave a sour taste in my mouth. I get the manpower isn't there, I don't get the inconsistency with it though. The last 2 times it was a blanket wiping of demotions but this time we just have to deal with it. It actually rewarded people who didn't play. That needs to change - Platinum is bloated because a lot of people don't play. Those of us that do get punished.
I echo everyone's positive comments in this thread but I can also say the lack of communication other than "deal with it", even when people offer to help, and the inconsistency against the last time this happened is really frustrating. We shouldn't be moving the goal posts on what gets you promoted/demoted like this. I know this post will bring some negative feedback, but this is my opinion, which you may think is right or wrong. I get really excited about playing my TGC Tour rounds each week and I do take seriously. Based on the number of streamers out there that stream their TGC rounds I know I'm not the only one.

He said in the OP why this isn't getting fixed this time around. I think it is more than just checking a box, there is actual code that has to be edited as well and the only person that can handle that is not available this week. Also you can get awarded for not playing any week because if you do not play you can't get demo marks, but your also punished because you can't get promo marks. They do monitor participation which is why we have the promo events, and they can tell us what slots are available ahead of time.

Plenty of people had no idea what was even being referenced by "red fasts" or what the update even addressed. /end hijacking

Divot derby was great for your arcade style and we are the competitive side and this was for us. We are the most competitive group out there plus we contribute hundreds of phenomenal course to the game every year. I hope some of the Content creators close to HB and 2K at least ask them to consider sponsoring this site even though HB and 2K shouldn’t have to be asked.

I have to completely disagree with you, in terms of HB/2K doing a "great job catering to their communities". Honestly, if TGCT was that important to HB/2K, wouldn't this red fast fix have come much earlier than EIGHT MONTHS AFTER REALEASE? TGCT players have been asking, if not begging, for HB to fix this since release. Instead, the devs claimed all was working as intended and no change would be coming. So people who played red fasts kept doing their thing without any implication what they were doing was "wrong". Long forum threads here ensued and a lot of back-and-forth debate about red fasts went on and on for about eight months. Only then, after EA released info they were rejoining the virtual golf world, a secretive, quick, and vague server-side change came out of nowhere. It was only explained here on TGCT sites, and the official tweet didn't give any details on the update. To me, the sudden change of heart is an attempt to retain people who play on TGCT from jumping ship to the game EA will release, due to the fact that the red fasts were viewed by that group as "cheese" and an exploit. It was a move to do some "late in the game's lifecycle" damage control in my eyes. Anyway, I've now been a part of multiple thread hijackings here, so I will stop now...for the time being anyway!

I believe you make a fair point in the timing of this sudden change of heart, but can you blame them? If a new competitor emerges wouldn't you do anything it takes to make sure you make your existing customers happier? In fact post nerf don't you think this could potentially hurt 2K/HB based on the reaction in this forum? I think a lot more people did not appreciate the patch than those who did, based on the threads. I am not going to get into the red fast bit as tis way over done, but individuals knew they were playing the game not as intended when using it all the time so I disagree with your statement people had no implication they were playing the game wrong, they knew, but it allowed them to compete so you can't blame them a bit for it. I honestly think EA announcing a release is the best thing that could have happened for us, HB/2K now have to dot T's and cross I's, they cannot afford to put out a mediocre product especially if EA introduces a competent course design component. No doubt the EA game is going to sell copies I can already see it...you can play as your favorite pro (but not Tiger..ouch, there is no tempo mechanic to the swing, there will be some narrative story line that you will get through in a week then you are stuck with a mediocre career mode playing the same 15 courses over and over. Don't like career mode, awesome you can play online with your buddies, the same courses 10,000 times. Great you can play Augusta and the "real" majors, and the scoreboard will probably be correct, but without a designer the game has absolutely no chance IMO. People will play for a month or so and get bored because there is no doubt this game will not live up to expectations from a game play perspective. I assume they will have cross platform play which would be an advantage until 2Ks next iteration (if they don't add it this version on the fly a la the red fast nerf) and I would be shocked if that is not EAs key focus as they release details. Also if you look at history EA doesn't have the best track record when it has competition: NBA Live Vs NBA2k March Madness Vs College Hoops 2K (I really hope with NCAA football coming back 2K brings back the college basketball series) Rory Vs TGC (couldn't even out perform then little HB) And really all the things they have exclusively like madden and NHL are stale, its literally the same game every year just the screens look prettier and the narrative mode changes slightly. Their college football reboot is no doubt going to be a homerun so they are going to try and sneak this in while they gain momentum towards that release. Some people may prefer to play EAs version for a variety of different reasons and that is fine. I will probably buy the game out of curiosity because well its a golf game, but for us as a community to move over to EAs iteration from a competition standpoint, I just can not see EA ever getting to that level. Ok back to promo/demo talk, been a lovely discussion sir, and feel free to Pm if you want to keep it going, enjoyed the conversation.
