Had three -9's and a -7 for -34 overall. Rd3 buggered me up a bit and lip outs aplenty in Rd4. Cheers

Talk about your rounds in the 2nd promotion event. Looking like 250ish cards should be available for this one. Good luck!

-8 to start. Having a lot of bad swings on pitch shots about to just give up on them! This is an awesome course by Baby Bull. Top 5 course I have played in my opinion. Good luck everyone!

I was practicing the course this week and I usually take notes, I thought I'd drop them off here -just some stuff I saw during my practice rounds. I've been in the habit of leaving notes on the CC forum cause it helps my game when I'm more conscious of the details of each hole. Hopefully Baby Bull doesn't mind if I do this preview and I know nobody really needs these, but it's just there for those that like to read this kind of stuff when playing a tourney at a golf course they may not know yet. Baby Bull did a great job on this course - and here are his comments from his thread in case he doesn't stop by. Hey Doyley, yeah still doing these, thanks for letting me.
Baby Bull: Welcome to Cape Ari! This is my submission course for the Dream Team 2020 contest. It's a par 71 course only playing 6,860 yards from the tips. The course looks and plays much different than my normal course designs as I tried to break out of a lot of my comfort zones while creating it. It has an out-and-back routing style and no waterfalls, which are both firsts for me. The course plays pretty tough compared to the usual difficulty of my courses, but can really get difficult with tougher conditions than those set by default. I hope you enjoy your rounds at Cape Ari!
CAPE ARI Cape Ari had Baby Bull breaking out of his comfort zone, and it may break me out of my comfort zone since there are a lot of treacherous and menacing multi-tiered greens to deal with. The fairways are easier but internal bunkers like to hang out at many spots and taunt us making our drivers uncomfortable at times. Along with elevation changes and various fairway cambers, approaches require extra thought as well. The easiest part of the course is the short length but it may not always feel as short as the yardage indicates. At least we have some great views and beautiful rocks and planting to enjoy. I can wallow on them while everyone passes me on the leaderboard. LOL
1-4-392. An early birdie opportunity, enjoy the spacious fairway since it’s the easiest to hit on the course. A west wind allows us to carry the big fairway bunker right. The green pinches in at the front and features a mini-punchbowl back right but a driver and pitch should do nicely.
2-4-494. #1 handicap (on tour version so far) The difficulty takes a major step up with this long par-4 that curves right slightly and is 100 yards longer than the opening hole. The wide fairway is stuffed with 2 bunkers and a waste bunker right. You may be able to cut the inside corner over the dune where the bridge is. The green slopes right in the front and left in the back so alter the approach to your needs. 3-3-182. #1 handicap (after 5000 PS4 plays on reg. version) Beware of this green on very fast speeds as it’s highly undulating and split into multiple sections. Downhill lag putts can be a nightmare here. The Sunday grumpy #4 pin will not be polite to us when we approach it so be weary.
4-4-369. A short downhill par-4 and a birdie opportunity to make up any ground lost on those mean ol’ #2 and #3 holes. Lots of options here with a luxurious fairway with only an internal bunker teasing us. An easy pitch approach should get close on a green that slopes left.
5-5-530. Elevator going up! A 3-section fairway divided by 2 more internal bunkers and a small brush area – the section on the right leaves the best angle into the green. The approach is way uphill (50 feet) to a boomerang-shaped 2-tiered shallow green that wraps around a bunker. It’s tough to hold with a wood approach since its shallow, but it undulates severely from back-to-front.
6-4-473. We’re heading towards the coast now on the sixth hole-maybe I can relax a little and smell the sea breeze. Elevator going down - a dogleg left that drops 60 feet takes a lot of pressure off the tee shot. A west headwind keeps this hole almost as long as the yardage indicates despite being downhill. As part of a double green, if your ball catches the wrong green undulation, the slope will slide your ball way right leaving a very tough recovery.
*To test this green on very fast, I putted about 15 feet towards the right and it rolled 150 feet down 3 tiers until the righthand fringe stopped it. It left me with a 50 yard uphill pitch. Just be weary of the undulations.
7-3-150. Another scenic hole to keep us relaxed, the seventh is a short, downhill par-3 with a very deep bunker left and a bit of a narrow, 2-tiered green. Staying below the hole and avoiding the bunker left are the easiest ways to get par or birdie.
8-5-587. A lovely looking coast plays along a hole that doesn’t give much love. Chances are, this will take 3 shots to reach the green sitting 70 feet uphill and almost 600 yards from where the tee box sits. The fairway narrows some by the driver landing area with bunkers pinching. The second shot will leave us with an uneven lie and the 2-tiered green can make downhill lag putts roll off the green. We’re gonna have to work for this birdie with a southwest wind blowing at us.
9-4-423. (#3 handicap) This is one of the more complex tee shots where you can go with a 3-wood or driver to a landing area 50 feet below tee box level- a southwest wind is at our backs and it could help with the carry. Landing in the waste area that splits the fairway can result in an unpredictable lie for the approach. A severe dogleg right, it’s best to miss a tee shot right as the ball will be closer to the green allowing a wedge out of any dune danger.
10-4-368. A relatively easy short par-4, the fairway is wide, with a principal’s nose bunker as its defense. Laying up still allows a wedge approach in. The dangerous back-left of the green should be avoided if possible. The Sunday/#4 pin is way back left-it’s a steep climb trying to run the ball up the 4-foot high tier it sits on. Putting 4 feet uphill from the green’s center is no picnic either.
11-3-140. Another short par-3, this downhill shot may only require a wedge off the tee. The narrow cashew-shaped green slopes left to right
12-4-404. Shooting this down the valley style fairway with driver will only leave a pitch into the green or go with a 3-wood/wedge for the safe play. The green is part-2 of the intimidating green that was first featured the 6th hole. Rage-quit inducing – I prefer crying instead. I will have to keep calm and practice yoga before this hole.
13-3-166. A severely uphill par-3 with a double-plateau style green sloping to the right, keep an eyeball on the Saturday/#3 pin standing tall on the small top tier in the left back corner – accuracy is at a premium and we may be left with a long lag putt.
14-5-542. A shorter par-5, the tee shot can be compromised by the narrowing fairway. The green slopes dramatically to the left so putting will be a strength if you searching for eagle. A drive into the ditch right will leave a blind approach. We pass by the clubhouse – if you need to go to restroom there are some porter potties available. I shouldn’t have eaten a burrito with extra beans before I started. If you hear a lot of flushing, that’s me in there. You’ll have to wait and it may not be very fresh in there either. Sorry in advance.
15-4-447. The first hole with a roomy fairway since #10, a fade (for righties) best matches the shape of this dogleg right. Anything left will wander off the steep reverse camber . The uphill approach is to a more mellow green. A tough Sunday/#4 pin sits on the high spot back-left – it’s difficult to negotiate a place near enough to have a birdie chance.
16-4-414. A wide fairway with an internal bunker makes us wonder which side is best to land a drive into the southwest headwind. Left leaves an approach off higher ground while right gives us the better angle. A short approach uphill should be left below the hole to avoid trouble on the severe back-to-front sloping green.
17-3-235. #2 handicap Awww shucks- the toughest par-3, this is where I take a couple of long iron/hybrid practice swings cause these long par-3’s are usually an automatic par or bogey. The Sunday/#4 pin position is at the front so running up the fairway is the best chance at getting your ball intimate with the hole.
18-5-541. The grande finale, Baby Bull was feeling more kind after he made us suffer (LOL) and gives me an opportunity to make up for any triple bogeys I’ll probably get on #17. The holes grows tougher as it goes – the fairway is an easy find but staying left on it is best, the green asks for a fade approach. This putting surface will be in my nightmares- I can’t see myself getting eagle here, I’ll settle for a birdie, though others here can eagle it.
I hope some of this helps but people will kick my butt around without my notes anyway – just something I thought I’d share. Good luck and have a great week!

I think I started out -11, -9 for a -20. The course was fun. I didn't finish as strong as I wanted (-36) but maybe it will be enough to move up to elite.

Well... I shot -13 -13 -7 to start. But it turns out that was all for nothing as I've been promoted to Platinum through the glitch .

-5 -10 -7 -14
-36 Total
Dreadful first round with 28 putts may cost me but I could see scores getting super low at this course. I'll be stoked if -36 is enough to bump me to elite from kinetic but won't be holding my breath all week,
Fun course all in all, thought it was a great gettable course for a promotion event and should see a good mix of scores out there. I usually putt better on faster greens but somehow managed to do the opposite for this event. Excited to see how it all pans out.

I think it will get you close, my target was -40 to try to get to platinum, but that's all gut feeling from the course practice I had. -14 is excellent.

Played pretty decent aside from the lag I had during this event, but I had ALOT of lagging issues throughout the entire course. Definitely would have enjoyed this course and event more without the lag. Pretty disappointed.

Just finished my first two rounds with a -1 and a -7 to finish -8 through two. First round was nothing special and would get a birdie then give it back and was not going to continue with my second round but started with a birdie on hole one so continued and so glad I did! Hope I can continue this going into the final rounds later this week. Good luck all 👍

Enjoyed the course very much. Shot decently except for a 68 in R3, where I burned edges all round long. Literally 16 pars, 1 birdie, 1 eagle in that round. I don't think I made anything outside of 15'. Not that I really want to get promoted straight back to Platinum - I rather enjoy feeling like I can play decently but not lights out and still make the cut as I've done the past two weeks in Elite. I really just played this one because 1) Good course, why not play and 2) Trying out bead counting on putting. Results seem to be about the same as feel putting. I burn edges a lot, but rarely three putt.
