Great course with a natural feel. What grass texture numbers did you use for FW, rough, deep rough and greens? I can’t can’t find anything like them on the PS4 designer? Thank you very much, appreciate it! Here are all of the settings, hope it helps: Theme: Boreal Fairway: 19 Light Rough: 19 Heavy Rough: 19 Greens: 19 Bunkers: 9 Time of Day: 8:45 Inclination: 37 degrees Clouds: 0.9 Height: 1.0 Scale: 0.09 Definition: 0.2 Period: 0.2 Haze: 0.4 Fog Ceiling: 0.2 Fog Density: 0.6 Great information, thank you for sharing that. 👍🏻

Played 18 on this gem last night & I gotta' say Eric, you really have set the Lidar bar very high with Pinewood Valley! What a fantastic job man! So many Lidar renditions are a turn off to me mostly because of the lack of attention to lines & off the course details & yeah I get it, people don't want to take the time after using their cyber crayon to smooth things out but it's very obvious you took the extensive period of time it takes to get a very clean look to this recreation.
And the course itself, well incredibly realistic from layout to looks to play-ability, a 5++ imo! This is by far one of the top RCR's put out since chad's tools were released!
Great job man! Thanks for your time & patience. I'll be pushing this course for use in the Sim Society's I play in & have no doubt I'll revisit it time & again!

THAT, right there, means everything to me!

I like a well done LiDAR course (especially since I've played a couple of dodgy ones before) and this looks perfect. I also really like the hole by hole slides! Looks awesome, I'll give it a go tonight.

Stunning course. Lidar or not, this is extremely well done. But this being a Lidar based course makes this an even more unbelievable achievement. I'm curious... How did you bring in such a huge plot of lidar terrain at that resolution and then have an object meter available to do all the planting you have done? Are you generating masked terrain at 4x or 8x or something else other than the default? The transition from lidar terrain to background is practically seamless... how did you manage this without killing the object meter? I'm assuming you used autogenerated trees and then cleared out what you didn't want. I would be forever grateful if you could post any advice and tips on this build, since I am obviously missing out on some key techniques for plot size and object meter management. Again, Wow! And thank you for creating this work of art.

Hi mal, thanks for the feedback! The "square" size of the LiDAR plot is the same as normal, basically just the area around the course, but I then sculpt the edges on my own to take the square away and make it part of the whole plot. I don't know anything about masked terrain at 4x or 8x, so I definitely didn't do anything like that. The planting technique around the edge of the course with a LiDAR definitely needs some special attention because of LiDAR using almost 30-40% of the meter already when you start. One of those techniques is using the auto-gen trees up at 100 percent in the settings, and then just deleting them from the course area that I am going to hand plant. The other technique, on courses where it makes sense to do so based on what's really there, is to layer the trees on the edges of the plot in such a way when you're planting them that the forest looks "thicker" than it really is when you're on the course playing the game. I can certainly show that technique on one of my streams if you stop by and ask. That helps save a LOT of meter as well. Thanks for playing the course, I'm very glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you for the tips and explanation. I took some time to browse around (incl. underground) in camera mode and I think I understand how you achieved the sight blocking edge of plot forest. Another area that is fantastic on this course is the scale/height blend from planted to autogenerated trees. One (of the many) issue I have is that the scale of the auto generated trees are so much larger than what I plant (matching google earth) or when I use lidar trees for around the course. I have lots to learn, and will be referring back to this course as a "Gold Standard" template and benchmark for the foreseeable future. Thanks again.

Yes, you are totally correct about the scale issue. I actually went through all the autogen trees and removed the individual ones that were way too tall. People on stream saw me calling that out, so great call there.

Bump VctryLnSprts this course is outstanding! Easily in the upper echelons of LiDAR courses I've played and the extra details were so, so well done. Might give this another play later today - possibly without using the driver once! Great job buddy

Finally gave this a run today. Love the local course feel to it with the blind tee shots and weird yardage. Lighting and environment were spot on

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it. This is my favorite LiDAR of the 3 I’ve done, so thank you for noticing the details.
You might also enjoy the (Tourney) and (Par 3) versions, which are both fictional creations I made on the same plot. Turn the greens up to very fast for a dangerous experience. 😉

Finally got a run round this track with Greg this evening. Very nice indeed Eric. I did spend some time checking the trees out real close up Looking forward to having a look at the Tourney version which is appearing soon on the Beer League I believe.
