Welcome to Asylum
Thanks to jayraygun for the excellent logo!
Asylum is my Second Course and is a formation of a thought experiment of "What if Sheep Ranch and Pacific Grove's Back 9 had a mountainous baby?"
6 holes of this course (7,13,15-18) won Design League Contest #4 which you can blame for me snagging a spot in WCOD.
This course has wide fairways but do not be fooled, it is a hard test that punishes errant shots harshly while still remaining scoreable and rewarding for hitting good ones.
For the Platinum experience and more realistic weather conditions try Red Tees on Pin 2 with 187(Very Fast) greens with very firm conditions and harsh winds, as any wind greatly increases this course's difficulty.
For an Easier experience Try Green Tees Default Pin 3.
Similar to Pacific Grove, this course uses partial blindness to hide optimal shots and to punish bad ones. You will always see the fairway and a safe landing zone, but throughout the round you can take more, blind and aggressive lines which will put you into a much better position on the approach shot while punishing you with blindness for a miss. This course uses subtle (and some obvious) nods towards template hole design and is extremely tightly routed.
This extensively uses Hyper-planting and very minimally uses tee manipulation (saving some new secret tech for my WCOD course!)
Thanks to Crazycanuck1985 b101 and mattf27 for you techniques, strategy ideas and videos which helped me improve from The Bohemian Club and make a big leap towards hopefully being competitive against all of you for WCOD. There is no way my 2nd course would look this good without those streams and videos.
Thanks to tpetro and TannerBronson for hosting the Design League, it definitely pushed me to improve and hopefully the full 18 version of the course wont disappoint!
This whole community has been very helpful and welcoming to me who's only been around here for 5 months, without you guys giving feedback and motivation I don't think I would enjoy this as much as I currently do. Now to try to make you guys proud in WCOD (and kick your butts)

Hole 12
Just south of the Monterey Peninsula in Big Sur lies a strange place with a stranger history. Started by a group known simply as the A.R.E (Association for Research and Enlightenment), a private camp was made as an escape from the rest of the world, an "Asylum" . Attempt, if you dare, to make the hermitage out here to play one of the world's most private clubs on a course difficult enough to drive you insane. The old compounds and the defunct lighthouse are visible from almost every green. Something more sinister seems to be afoot
