I just finished one short of the cut on Platinum. I guess everyone above me isn't using a method to make it easier to hit fairways or anything. Even Sloaner uses it off of the tee. It's all about "that's how I play my shots in real life", right? That validates hitting an unrealistic cut/hook/etc right? This wasn't a thing in any other TGC game until now... I mean, you hit 100% FIR in round 2, only missed 2 in round 1. Idk how many more you want to hit? You had 26 and 28 putts. My main point is just there's all this unnecessary outrage directed at players who are competing by the rules. I come from the world of NBA2k so believe me I get it! I'm a sim NBA player so when one achieves the same result as me doing it a way that you wouldn't do IRL, I roll my eyes. However, there's plenty of outrage and constructive (and destructive lol) feedback directed at 2k over it. The fault lies with HP Studios, it's their design flaws. Me personally, I'm here to have fun and compete against the best who inspired me to play this game so much. I love TGCTours and I have a blast whether I shoot 59 or 69, I enjoy the different challenge each round brings. Nobody can tell me my practice and grind to get better over all these weeks is worthless because I play for a slightly fast full swing and take practice swings to make sure I dont over or underswing. Swing your swing, read greens how you want, do math if that's your thing, play in 15 min, play in an hour, rely on a splash, a chip or a flop, use haptic, use visuals, use mismatching beginner clubs or a matching set or the longest clubs, whatever. Have fun and play by the rules! "The rules" said that my natural swing back in TGC2019 was legal and I passed the API for months. But the "gang" etc. pointed out that I was playing an exploit. They were right AND I was also legally playing the game under TGCT rules. The difference now is that the "accepted" way of playing is now flipped towards the masses. I have a chip on my shoulder that is hard to shake after I passed all API tests until I didn't and as soon as I did I changed my swing. Now that the game is "different" some of the same players that called out one cheesy way to play flat out ignore cheese in this game.

Unfortunately I can't fully relate as it pertains to TGC/PGA2k as I only played TGC2019 briefly and didn't know about TGCTours yet. But I certainly do not condone anyone belittling or ostracizing someone over the way they swing especially in a game as unique and individual as golf, so I'm sorry you went through that frustration man.

This wasn't a thing in any other TGC game until now...
At the top of the tours that's not true at all. I was using fast off the tee in TGC 2019 to get extra distance, sometimes on my fairway woods into par 5s as well. Even if it was only 5-10 yards it could mean the difference between reaching one par 5 a round or not, it also was an effective way to cover gaps in full shot distances.
I know from watching ghosts that guys like rcknfrewrld, tylerduke, fadgewacker, and others were often hitting fast off the tee in TGC 2019.

Well it's an arcade golf game (not simulation) so you need to take arcade measurements like the fast swing to be in the top of the leaderboard, it's very logic really.

I literally pointed out in my post that using it in 2019 was used to sometimes get extra distance. That isn't why it is being used in this version for the large part of players on ALL tours, and it is being used at a much higher rate now. Using it to gain distance then versus working around the much more difficult tempo now aren't really comparable. There wasn't nearly much of a "need" to use it then. I'll look at random twitch streams where they are playing tgctours rounds and its on all levels of play and red fasts streams far outnumber the amount of streams that play for perfects. It's simply being lazy and not trying to learn the nuances of the swing. This comment is obviously geared towards the PS4/5 crow much moreso than the other platforms.

If suddenly players were required to play twenty rounds on Beginner or Pro Am swing difficulty (all other TGCT aids settings notwithstanding), how many rounds until the Red Fasters switched to trying for Perfects?
🤔
HB has created a wonderfully difficult game. Play against the game, not the difficulty level.

Is it even possible to hit the 105% swing with perfect tempo on masters settings? I doubt it, at least the way my controller is calibrated. At some point I have narrowed the white grey area to nothing. So if I want to hit the maximum possible distance off the tee I do not think it is possible to play for perfect, which brings it back back to the one directional miss point. Am I one of the few who tried to hit 105% off the tee most of the time or do these twitch players also do it? I am not a stream watcher

I don't see many trying that deliberately. You are a good player who knows the ins and outs of the mechanics. Understand that many others are not as much so and are simply using the red fast to skirt around the harder tempo and aren't really concerned with the nuances you mention. My view is towards the tours as a whole and not specifically geared towards the highest tour that you and I are on. It is taking a shortcut for many (not all of course who understand the nuances) to avoid the harder tempo in this game AND to go instantly to 294/295 Driver (I have used 273/275/277 as my default driver all season) to gain distance. You thoughts as a high level player I understand to a large part, but know that many, many players here at tgctours basically don't really want to try to play for perfects or even think it should be normal to just red fast it off of the tee at the very least if not also into greens. They are artificially helping their scoring. Those that think that is the only thing that matters.. you are correct, but until this season there have been safeguards to protect against gaming the system. There really isn't a safeguard (API) to check for this, but IMO this way of skirting around the way tempo "should" be played is, from an objective view, just as suspect as other things we can check for. The fact that there is no way to police this shouldn't be a green light to play this way. It is simply a shortcut.

Red Fast “strategy” also allows players to use maximum spin without fear of consequences and rewards using the clubs with least amount of forgiveness. And maybe someone can fill me in why this couldn’t be monitored by API? What does it tell you when someone has 14 Red Fast tempos on drives but 100% FIR at 310+? 🤔

My swings as raw data are going to all be fast as viewed by raw data, but when compared to my own calibration they are close to the center/perfect area. Combine that with everyone basically having their own calibration that can be wildly different.. the raw data would be useless when basically everyone has their own custom calibration to compare raw data to.

What if HB, added in a threshold that if you swing "too fast" your digital golfer barely makes contact with the ball and it trickles forward like 15 yards or so? (For a drive.) That would definitely add some risk to the red-fast method.
I could see it being an option added to master and legend difficulties default settings, with the option to toggle it on or off. Have to think of a fancy name for it like "True Shank" or something. Lol

Man, if I was this pissed off every day about this game I wouldn't even play it. Actually taking the time to review certain players rounds because of suspecting fast swings.
I guess it keeps your mind busy though.

I guess it keeps your mind busy though. Randomly popping into PGA2k21 streams when all my other interests outside of this game are lull is not "reviewing certain streamers". If I see a tag from someone relating to TGCT when looking at this game on Twitch I'll pop in. I spend my money, which includes this game, and time as I wish. I am not you and that is what makes life great. We are all different. Angry about the game? No, this is actually a really challenging and rewarding game at these difficulties that brings me back. I get frustrated at the player base here as it feels like we are just down the path to doing whatever is allowed is okay in the name of competitions' sake. Am I going to change things from how the staff here operates? No. Am I still within my rights as just another member like anyone else to call out what I perceive as a lazy shortcut for many? Yes. Because I am in the minority on this doesn't mean I will just be silent. You can call out petty things about myself or others like me who share this opinion for whatever reason. Doesn't matter as it doesn't add to this discussion.

No, this is actually a really challenging and rewarding game at these difficulties that brings me back. Sorry to burst in here not invited and all lol But this comment above kind of hits close to home for me today. Played my CCA rounds today and had a bad 2 rounds. I then proceeded to post a whiney post in the CC forum about how I'm retiring and all that. Nothing abusive or bad towards the designer blah blah...(which I've since deleted since it was beneath me lol) What did I do after that post..Loaded up TGC again to play some more.. What am I doing after this? (well after I tend to my city in Forge of Empires).. I'm going to go play some more golf lol ---------------- Sorry to burst in guys. I best get back to the topic. Not that the topic hasn't been beaten to death in this thread enough lol I don't play the fast, in Soviet Canada, the fast plays me. Seriously though. I play for perfects, but no matter how hard I try and get more fasts than anything. But I'm confident that I am playing it "right" as I do try as best I can for perfects.
