This is just my 2 cents on the fasts. I use them, I use slows and I use a few perfects (or try for I should say). I do this depending on the wind direction, yardage (in between clubs) and a gaggle of other factors. My reasoning is consistency versus random. I won't play random. The second this game becomes random to add forced difficulty I'll be out. And on that note, trying to hit perfects feels random. Either by design or due to glitches, framerates, lag or a host of other graphics issue I don't understand, It feels random. Like we are chasing a perfect zone that is skipping from range to range. Someone early in this game did something on their computer (again I don't understand a lot of it) where they recorded a perfect swing and replicated it over and over. The results were very inconsistent. My own experience also with swings that feel good are super fast from out of nowhere rather than a little fast. Or my favorite is when it feels like you swung a bit fast and it goes slow (this usually happens with water on the right acting like a magnet). So to some this up, if and when this game stops feeling like there is so much inconsistency in the swing, then I'll go back to trying for perfects 100%. Again, just my take on it.

Do you play with your DS4 via Bluetooth (wireless) or plugged in via the USB setting? Use the regular PS4 wireless controller. Not plugged in Playing wired via USB (you would have to change this setting in your settings in the general PS4 settings) yields "different" results. Try it. You may or may not like it. It limits the amount of points on the tempo range you can get, but it also seems (again, IMO) to yield more consistent results tempo wise. If you aren't willing to play for perfects then this doesn't matter as much, but someone that does do this while playing for fasts probably has more insight than I do.

Thanks Bob, I'll give that a try when I run my practice rounds for next weeks tournament. What setting do I change to run it wired? My goal is to play perfects and that's how I run all my practice rounds. If you play for perfects, then your misses might be substantial, but when you hit it well it will get a lot closer than running red fasts. It just doesn't feel consistent to me at the moment. But it's a work in progress.

Cannot remember which one, but it is under controllers or maybe Bluetooth settings somewhere.

I use bluetooth all the time on my ps4 and someone said I should plug in to USB. I tried that by going into settings and switching to USB. I play about 6 or 7 holes and it quits so having to reset. So went back to bluetooth.

But it's a work in progress. I'd also suggest playing wired on PS4. And I also understand the inconsistency argument that leads to players running Red Fasts exclusively, however I also think the difficulty/inconsistency in tempo was by design at the highest levels. I think the devs wanted to create more realistic scoring, I truly do. I'm also a firm believer that tempo consistency in the swing mechanic can be improved over time through practice and warmup rounds before it's time to compete. For me, I start feeling really confident during round 3 of a session to the point I can (occasionally) play 18 holes getting either all perfect or both Gray Fast/Slow. It's playable for sure and more fun in my opinion than the Soviet swing. Also, players whose backswings are always in the overswing zone are going to have much more difficulty avoiding Red Fasts or Slows. By decreasing the intent or starting the downswing sooner, the tempo window for Perfect or Gray Fast/Slow is larger for sub-100% backswings. It truly makes a difference in staying away from the Redcoats. My belief is too many players fired up Masters difficulty without the requisite experience, and then discovered the Red Fast "strategy" and used it as a shortcut toward consistency. I don't necessarily blame them, but that's not PGA 2K21, it's just not.

The whole concept of aids are there to make the game easier and give us the crazy low scores we see here, incuding TST who play selective aids. It's not really realistic golf anyway it is arcade golf so is there a right or wrong way to play?. Just my view on this, the 30 yard hook is realism on TGCTours it seems.

I get what you’re saying, but it’s arcade video golf regardless of aids used or not. You use a joystick or mouse to make a pixelated ball fly through the air on a screen. But no matter the format, the player should face the challenges of the gameplay as intended by the designer. The Red Fast is cheesy sidestepping.

I use red fast all the time but I really really suck at putting...Putting on this game is a nightmare for me.... I've got the red fast swings down to a science. What is your average score per round? Even to -5....somewhere around that mark. I still get the occasional plus rounds as well. It all hinges on the putting for me and how awful the greens are on some courses.

XBoxer here, and I play for the perfects, knowing that means a variety of fasts/slows. On Masters, obviously, as it's pretty easy to stroke mostly perfects on Pro on the XB ...well, mine, for sure. Still doesn't help with putting.
