I like the density and cragginess that I'm getting, but I can't really find a way to get these lone trees to look like the real deal. If anyone can find a way to get trees to look like these, please show me how. With the floating bushes, I can't get that flat stretched out shape and they look too leafy and not pine-like enough. I tried using some of the dead oaks for the starting point, but they are too smooth and curvy.

This looks really good! I think you nailed the sf vibe with the trees available. Phenomenal pictures. I’ll be designing for Thanksgiving week...I have 1 child remote learning so I can’t completely shirk my parental duties!

You’re on the right track with the floating bushes but it looks almost too dense IMO even though the look is correct. That level of density makes it appear really narrow in the shade so you’d need to find a way to get a lot of light through the holes.

Looks great hickoryghost, and like some other design elements in this game, one just has to suspend disbelief a little and appreciate the imagination and effort. The west coast Cypresses will hopefully make an appearance in either the next version or an update. A couple other things I'd to see: Quaking Aspens (the tall, thin Aspens with the foliage at the top that glows in sunlight) in addition the the current Aspens, and sea oats for Atlantic beach courses. Btw - I saw your thread about Lido on the Golf Club Atlas forum - congratulations on the SV project...

Jesus...I though those were photographs. I had to look MANY times. Wonderful! The reference image you posted is also one of my all time favorite golf photographs. If you can pull off something even in that realm (and it sure seems you can) it will be an incredible course no matter if the trees are exact matches or not.
Also, Lido in it's final form is a serious gem. One of the best courses ever published. I adore it!

For the single trees I would suggest using mesquite trees. They have the exact leaves you're looking for, I've been using them a lot for ground cover. Can try to see if I can experiment on my own on it if you want

Woop woop! Cal Club . I tried my best to mimic this vibe when I created The Avalon Club just recently! It is definitely not easy to get done and I think you are already making it look more realistic than I did. The problem with the new in game cypresses in my opinion is that they aren't wonky enough to be classified as real cypress trees. The best part of windswept cypresses is that they are all so unique and different but the in-game ones are very uniform.

I think that’s because the cypress trees in this game are the kinds of cypress trees that are mostly found in the southeastern US. The ones you’re referring to that are found in California are called Monterrey Cypress. Those have the awesome, gnarly trunks and stuff. I really wish they were better represented in the game. I think some of the oak trees they gave us have a similar look with the trunks but not so much with the actual leaves as they are not in the line family.

Yep, it always confuses me why the game didn't put Monterey Cypresses because as far as golf goes, they are quite crucial to 15-20 great golf courses in Northern California. I found that some of the Pine trees are pretty funky in design so I used a combination of Pines to try to make my courses more San Francisco looking, but really there is no way to make it perfect. It's a shame really, I grew up in SF and the cypress trees are a big part of my childhood golf memories.

You can use the "dead" oak trees and then use bushes to give them leaves, actually looks decent
