that no matter how much you practice you just can't get much better with the swing timing dynamic? I keep thinking I am going to have an epiphany and see my scores improve, but it doesn't seem to be happening. I'm stuck in CC-I middle of the pack. I don't get demotion marks, but can't earn promotion marks either. I enjoy the game and the challenge, but I hoped to improve as I kept practicing and playing, but the damn swing timing is so erratic for me. I can hit numerous consecutive shots to the red fast, and then to the red slow without any perceptible change to my thumbstick input. I find it impossible to hit consistently in the white or grey zones. I'm too stubborn to quit trying, despite looking like a lost cause.

Sometimes a minor change can make a big difference. Fiddle with some small things and see how your tempo reacts (holding of controller, tempo tweaks, watching golfer animation, frame rate, how you calibrate your swing, etc). I feel I’ve slowly improved over the past 2 months, and try to stick with what is most repeatable

I can only suggest this: Don't fight it.. Meaning, whatever your swing is at the time you're playing your rounds - just go with it. I typically will hit the range to see where I'm at with the swing.. if it's tending more Slows - I'll adjust to the left, and right for the fasts.
Once you get into a rhythm playing the rounds - you can then adjust on the fly.
Also, even down to the 4ft putts - concentration is key. Any little lack of concentration could mean a stroke or two each hole.
I'm right there with you - been playing daily since release and have only a handful of sub-par rounds - but generally closer to even or just a few over. Keep at it and good luck !

Man is the 'concentration' thing right on target, Jeff !
I'll add 'be sure you're making smart choices', but that's a subset of your advice, really. I imagine some of the solid scorers rarely challenge MANY risky par 5s, but instead make sure to set up short birdie opps on ALL of them.
I've been floundering in CC-K (probably down to L after this week (three holes ate 9 strokes from par), but it's really only 6 or 8 strokes a round that are keeping me from making top twentys. Sounds like a lot, but it's only a matter of a few inches on a couple of putts or shooting from the the fairway and getting shorter ones on a couple other holes.
Even on a 'perfect' machine setup, there'll always be mishits and recoveries to make ... the pros do it all the time, and still live under par.

I was doing great with making charts on how far my ball actually flies hitting fast. Then all of a sudden I was unable to hit fast and all I got were slows. Killed my game and missed the cut. I made 18 holes of perfectly flat putting greens and can practice different green speeds with 9 different distances . My swing keeps getting better unless there is weirdness and I’m unable to hit fast .
Just keep at it. For me it took about 100 rounds in each iteration of this game to figure it out. A little

I find that the more I practice, the better I get. But I have to be playing without overthinking it. When I start to overthink it, then my swing tempo becomes very erratic, as I am trying so hard to do it right, it actually becomes a determent. When I practice a lot and just settle in and relax, its starts to come naturally.
Also whoever mention concentration hit on it also. No matter how much I've practices, when I lose concentration, the wheels fly off.

Like real golf, I find I have my good days and my crappy days. Sometimes I can't get into any kind of rhythm with the swing tempo for some reason and I couldn't hit the side of a barn, usually wind up with a lot of par saves, the round itself might be under par but usually even or a couple over. Other times I'll find it almost straight away and not lose it. It's those rounds where I score well, usually -5 or better. Unfortunately for TGC Tours events I never seem to string together more than one in a row of those rounds...😂
It has been suggested that the time of day might be part of why the tempo sometimes seems erratic. I usually play at around lunchtime and in the evenings Australian time, but I can't say I've noticed a difference. I've had good and bad tempo at both times.

That's why I think this game is very good (not great just yet) because just like real golf you have good days with tempo and bad days with tempo. Well said Richie Benaud!
