For those interested in the other differences between the original and the tour version:
Green speeds on the original were set to 8.5, updated to 8.0 for CC tour play, It can be played at 8.5 (187) if you'd like to change the default
Some bunker grass faces were made more severe, specifically on #12, #16 and #18
I took the opportunity to correct some items that were slightly off in the original version.
#1 - Green was rebuilt, so that the knob in the front middle is more pronounced, providing a more noticeable valley (for which the hole was named)
#5 - Front right green portion was reconstructed to be more severe, pin removed and replaced to left side of green
#6 - Left plateau was altered. The green lacked the proper camber on the left side on the pin placement (setting 2)
#7 - Redan was not quite correct in version one. Green slopes harder from front to back now, and the pinnable area was flattened. Shouldn't have an adverse effect on scoring ability
#10 - Employed a middle pin outside of the thumbprints (setting 3). This is a true option for a pin placement, but will not be easy on fastest green speeds
#12 - Punchbowl reconstructed, no effect on green portion, just the surrounding area

The tour version is being played on the Challenge Circuit this week. It will be interesting to see the scores... The greens are certainly going to create some defense and the wind has been turned up by the staff.
I working on a fescue planted version to kill some time. It is a completely mindless exercise - reserved for the most boring times of the socially distanced winter. I deleted some foreign objects and that should give me the planting capacity I would need. I was previously maxed out.
I'll post a screenshot of the new look after I complete a hole or two (if the plan works the way I want it to). It's the only change I'm making to the course other than a revision of the clubhouse, so there's no need to rush. I'm looking more towards 2K22 for this one to see the light of day. I only used splines, so converting the light rough to heavy rough could be done quickly for some added difficulty.

Looking forward to playing this one! I earned my tour card yesterday after three weeks of getting used to the difficult settings for TGCT. America's first 18 hole golf course designed by the H.O.F. Golden Age architect C.B. MacDonald, redesigned by the should be H.O.F. architect Seth Raynor (maybe the most underappreciated golf course architect although Harry Colt is right there with him) ranked as the #19 course in the U.S.A. by GOLF.com this year, #14 by Golf Digest. I'm jealous of you having the fortunate opportunity of enjoying this classic golf course.

Figured I'd give a status report here. After looking back at the old version, I realized how plain the course looked. It certainly could use a little more character. I think the new version will give a more realistic feel to the property. When it does get published, it will be called "Chicago Golf Club 2K21." I figure this will be done sometime in mid February if the pace I'm on continues. I did get the planting meter where it needed to be to undertake this project. There is A LOT of detail work to go, but most all of the heavy rough area has been covered with its first dose of fescue grasses. I will still have about 10% on the meter to add more detail on the edges. Also, this particular grass doesn't have to be planted at a larger size to be visible from distance, so the aspect won't look ridiculous if you're hitting a shot from a fescue area. You can not multi-plant this particular grass, as it becomes too dense and kills the meter. I manually created a large plot of the grass mix and copied and pasted all over the place. I wish I would have thought this method in the past. It's way more efficient. Adding other random grasses will enhance the look when you're in close proximity. That will be the next phase of planting to do. I will go back to a cloudy set up as well. The grass seems a little too bright on a sunny setting. Here are a couple screenshots of the holes that are getting closer to completion. I'm interested to hearing some thoughts.

Great idea - definitely look forward to it. Will only enhance the experience.
I just finished a course with large areas of various grasses across the plot using copy/paste - with a painful dose of resizing and replanting detail, so happy to share any of what I may have experienced by making mistakes if you like.
I only reached about 50% on the meter with all the non-theme trees and grass, too. I'm sure you're on it given what you've created in the past and said already, but just happy to do so if interested, and no worries at all if not - will be great to see.

Have enjoyed your courses (esp. Fox Chapel, CGC and Cardinal Pines) and this looks great. Love that your're doing a 2K21 update just to put some spit and polish on what was already a very enjoyable rendition of one of the very early classics.

This final version has now been published under Chicago Golf Club 2k21. I'm personally very happy with the results after the changes. Crowds are gone and fescue is planted. I believe the look and feel is as close as I can make it to the real thing... Interested in hearing feedback.

Assuming this is an update of that updated Tour version but without the crowds yes?

This was an update to the Tour version. I added the white tee option, moved a couple pin placements and ramped green speed up to the maximum. Other than that, the only changes are in the planting.

The fescue adds the extra element needed to make this the real deal. The colour palette, overcast lighting and boundary planting creat a great vibe. Love your work!
