So I went out to play my rounds tonight and was amazed that the pins/tees i practiced on in the official practice events were NOTHING like the actual pins/tees in the tour event. Thursday pins/tees were either Friday's positions or a mishmash of several rounds. Same thing with the Friday one. I had come out to play one round as I has been used to the practice Thursday and even managed to score a decent score. By the second hole I was completely lost with pins that were foreign to me. I exited and tried to find the pins and thought a few for the Friday practice but even that didn't line up completely. Lets forget for a moment that the course is ridiculous at this moment. I played Doyley's ball and good on you for being able to shoot -17 for two rounds, but I'd like to talk a little about fairness. I practiced for 2 1/2 weeks on the original Shakespeare course, only to be told a week before that things were firming up. I didn't like it but fine. I put in a lot of practice for the Thursday round as my thought was take it one day at a time. Practice that one day, get where you want to hit and play it, only to find out the first round was NOT the same pin/tees I had been practicing for the last week! How is this fair? You change the firmness with short notice then change the pins with no notice and you expect us to come out and have fun? I'm sorry but this tourney was not well thought out and I hope that the admin won't have this happen again in the future. In the end I said "**** it" and just played. -3 for the first round even par for the second round, which did have some tees/pins like the Thursday round practice i played. For instance hole #1 on Thursday was a front pin position you had to land in the fairway to roll up to. In round one of the tourney it was in the middle of the green and in round 2 it was back left. WTF? Can someone explain what happened? At this point I'm actually considering asking that this tournament doesn't count because what was given to us to practice was NOT what the tour gave us. I believe on the pros, they know basically the pins/tees for all four rounds and they practice that. I honestly love what you guys do, I understand that you want to make it tougher, but you can't change the difficulty, give us practice rounds to practice the new difficulty and have it be nothing like the actual rounds we play. Sorry for the tone of the post, but the difficulty of the course is bad enough without having to also deal with pins that are completely foreign to you. Oh and before anyone says, "Oh you could have just quit and practiced the other rounds." I would say this, first off I shouldn't need to as I already put a week in. Second, I shouldn't have to! The practice round should reflect exactly what the actual round will be Good luck all. Oh and nice shooting Doyley.

No one is not going to "count" the tournament just because you have a gripe. If there is a legitimate mess up here then I am sure it will be rectified. Whether that will be restarting the tournament I highly doubt. You shouldnt have played your rounds in anger and should have come here first to seek a solution? On a side note, and not aimed at your post but anyone complaining about not being able to practice, do the Pros get to hit 10 rounds on each course before they play it? Yes they may map out every aspect of the course, but we have the ability to do this also without playtesting the living hell out of it. But alas, thats another story and I aint complaining as I get many practice rounds in myself

Well i just looked in the shakespeare thread and found that 2 days prior to opening they decided to use sat / sun tees/pins instead of thur/fri/sat/sun
I was rebuilding my computer and didn't read the thread so my fault there....still seriously.. 2 days prior to the tourney you make a change like this when people been practicing thurs/friday?
Really not cool guys. My fault for missing the thread.. but seriously it would be REALLY nice to get a bit more notice so we can put in some quality practice rounds on a course that was just toughened up. Really unfair.

It had to be changed because the different setups ended up changing the par from 72 to 71. Anyways, Sat&Sun were used for Thur/Fri because the system in place here couldn't handle the change in par nor is changing par realistic.

Apologize for the change up but as mentioned above we had to make the switch due to the different pars. Needless to say, we've learnt from this (my fault) and will be better for it in future events.

I understand that there was an issue...the problem is that isn't the player's fault. I'm all for making things harder. I was practicing Thursday/Friday and managed a -9 and -8 for those two rounds after much practice. I hadn't even looked at Sat/Sun.
The problem is the timing. Simply put if you are going to decide to make courses tougher, then this type of stuff should have been worked out a few weeks ago so people can put in proper time for practice. As it was even if I did read that note Doyley left on Wednesday night, I would have had maybe time to practice 2 rounds before having to play tonight (busy this week). I am only one person but it just seems like things changed very quickly in this tourney and every time I figured I had some good practice in on the original course then on the tougher course, they changed it up again.
I really hope that in the future we can have more than 3 days practice before the tourney starts and more than a week before the choice of changing up the greens are made.

It certainly wasn't ideal how everything was going before the start of this tournament, as everything was a little bit short-termed.
But there have been reasons for that, as mentioned above.
And hey... in the end it's just a video game. Not worth to get upset.

I totally understand that.
But I'm a 100% sure they didn't do all that on purpose, just to make you grumpy.

I have to disagree with the pins arguement. Pins for real life tournys are never the same in practice rounds players should just learn the course through playing from different positions like pros do. Just restart game on 18 if u dont want to affect handicap

This week's event do not effect The Masters.

Sometimes curveballs are thrown. True champions are not bothered by such worldly things - it usually makes them stronger.
Just saying....
