I did sneak into the Playoffs... I wasn't sure if I'd make it but beating you last week moved me into the Top 6 and gives you the chance of the run back straight away

Hello Friends! Jim Nantz back again to bring you week 6 action from The Brew Crew’s 11th season. It’s Bear Necessities turn to make a run from the pack this week. Will they be able to make it interesting in the final week or will we have a coronation tour for Hobgoblins? Let’s get out to the action starting with The Americas Tour

Match 1: Bear Necessities vs The Plastered Bastards
Necessities come into the match this week finding themselves in solo second with a chance to run down Hobgoblins with a strong week. They find themselves going up against the Plastered Bastards who went Free Fallin’ down the standings after last week’s performance. The match would start off with a high scoring draw as the Necessities failed to take advantage of the Bastard’s gift. The Bastards would jump out to the lead however to close the day with a win in the second match. Day two featured a pair of better ball matches that proved the two teams might be too close to separate this week as a pair of draws gave the Bastards the lead 5-3.

Match 2: Hobgoblins vs Rum Raiders
Hobgoblins looked to reestablish their form after a loss last week find themselves taking on third place Rum Raiders who are looking to insert themselves into the picture in the final week of the season with a win. The Raiders would be the ones getting off to the fast start with a pair of wins to sweep the opening day. However, Hobgoblins were not about to let the opportunity for back to back titles slip away as the opening pairing squeaked out a win on the final hole to open the day. Seizing the momentum, their second pairing won in dominant fashion and the match would be leveled at 4.

Match 3: Beer Belly Boys vs Chuffing Chuggers
The Beer Belly Boys find themselves in a battle to keep themselves off the bottom of the table and are going up against a Chuggers team that’s sitting just out of contention for a top three spot entering the week. The Chuggers would come out fast to start keeping their hopes alive with a pair of dominant sweeps to open the festivities. However, the Boys would bounce back on day 2 opening with a dominant win of their own. The second better ball match would end in a draw however stalling out the Boys’ momentum. This one has the Chuggers up 5-3.

Match 4: Brews Brothers vs Sultans of Swing
The Brothers find themselves still at the bottom of the table although they are inching closer to getting out of the Wooden Spoon position. They have a tough task this week however going up against the other side tied for third, the Sultans of Swing. The teams would start off with a draw to open day 1 before the Brothers would close the day with a dominant victory to push themselves out front. The Sultans would wake up on day 2 however as they took a pair of matches that came down to the final hole to keep their hopes alive. This match also heads to the Rest of the World with the score 5-3 in favor of the Sultans.

JN: What an exciting start to the week. Let’s move overseas to the Rest of the World Tour

Match 1: Bear Necessities vs The Plastered Bastards
The close match continued into the third day with the Necessities drawing things back level to open the day. Another draw would keep the match squared as the teams headed into the final day. It would be Necessities showing their mettle on the closing day as Sean pulled out the opening win. Chris and Marcus would battle to a draw to put Necessities on the brink of the win. It would be Thomas coming through in the third match for the Necessities to give them the outright win. Mark and Matt would battle to a draw to close the day but this one ends with Necessities on top, 12-8.

Match 2: Hobgoblins vs Rum Raiders
Hobgoblins kept up their second day momentum on the third day as they looked to lock up the season long victory this week. A sweep of the day 3 matches left the Raiders staring at defeat heading into the closing day. Jason would keep their hopes alive opening the final day with a victory but that would be where the good news ended for the Raiders. The Hobgoblins closed out strong down the stretch with Leon, Ben and Mark all earning close victories to hand the Hobgoblins at 14-6 victory.

Match 3: Beer Belly Boys vs Chuffing Chuggers
The Chuggers returned to their day 1 form with a pair of dominant wins to put themselves on the brink of victory. However, the Boys wouldn’t go down without a fight and Alan started the day off with a win on the final hole to keep them in it. Ken would keep the good times rolling for them in the second match with a narrow win. However, the Chuggers would lock up the draw in the third match as Trevor and Paul played even across 18. The final match between Randy and Johnny would determine it and it came down to the bitter end. It would be Johnny edging out the win by one on the final hole to give the Chuggers the 12-8 win.

Match 4: Brews Brothers vs Sultans of Swing
Continuing their day 2 form the Sultans looked to get this match over quickly on day 3 as both pairings took victories to put them within one of the win. The final day would prove to be more of the same as the day started with a dominant win by David to give them the outright win. CF would add a win in the second match before Randy finally got the Brothers back on the scoreboard. However, it would be Michael with a dominant win of his own to close the match out strong for the Sultans. This one was all Sultans, 15-5

The Americas Tour
The Americas Tour heads to Notley’s Landing C.C. for the final week of the season. Designed by Tyson Staab, this Delta themed, fictional, par 71 course spans 7407 yards. Located on the Monterey Peninsula and inspired by George C. Thomas. To score well on this course you often are fighting against the land. The fairways are wide but sloping often creating awkward lies while trying to approach the green. Disclaimer on bushes surrounding bunkers, HB gave them a weird hit box and they make the bunker more of a hazard. This course hosted the Pokemon Go Long! Championship on the 3 Click Tour in June.

Rest of the World Tour
The Rest of the World Tour closes the season at Blind Man’s Bluff. Designed by Troy Stokes, this highlands themed, fictional, par 72 course spans 7300 yards. An Irish course on the Northern tip. The par 72 offers five par 5s, nine par 4s, and five par 3s. The main defense for the course is the OB on the coast, the strategic bearded bunkers and intentional blind tee or approach shots (probably a half dozen). This is an easier course that would fit nicely in CC or at best Kinetic if the winds are cranked as the should be for this style course.

Speedway pairs



Plenty of good golf across both semi-finals, with arguably the expected pair going through from semi-final 1 of Sean / Thomas and Stevie / Chuck (Supersub Ben), but the 2nd semi final was very close with only 7 shots between 2nd and 4th,  .. and it was Doe / Paraic sneaking though along with the bookies favourites to take the title, Alan / Michael




The Shootout was, as we thought it would be, another close affair, however we lost defending champions Jason / Art, so a new pairing will be putting their names on the trophy



Grand Final time ... less than 6 shots separate the 6 teams according to the handicap so every team is capable of taking the title.  However as Paul / Trevor & Nigel / Bova made it through the Shootout will have 3 shots added to their final score, the handicaps shown below do not show this

It's gonna be a close one peeps, we have 3 people who were in last years final being represented with their new partners and 2 previous Grand Final winners .. will we have 2 new names on the trophy or will we finally get someone who is a 2-time winner  .. only time will tell

Next week is our new creation, Santa’s Open. Similar setup to a normal major, 4 rounds with no mid week deadlines. Here is the twist though. The 4 rounds will be played over 4 different courses using the four TBC societies. There is no requirement to play but screenshots will be needed for the Open Leaderboard.
