Hello Friends! Jim Nantz here welcoming you to the opening week of The Brew Crew’s 10th season. The offseason events have been finished with Nigel taking home The Latex Cup by 6 strokes. Some shifting in the draft rankings based on those events has led to an interesting arrangement of teams this season. We will have to wait to see how it all shakes out. Let’s see where we’re playing this week, starting with The Americas Tour where a slight rule change for the season means this event MUST be reported by Wednesday evening unless an extension has been granted.
The Americas TourThe Americas Tour ventures to the Caribbean this week to Teeth of the Dog, D.R. Designed by Connor Leherbauer, this real life recreation is a par 72 course spanning 7324 yards. The course was ranked #20 in the World (Golf Digest)(at the time of submission). Designed in real life by Pete Dye in 1971, the course is located at the Casa de Campo resort. Featuring many of Dye’s trademark features (and some unique ones), paired with a beautiful ocean vistas along 7 holes (dubbed “Heaven 7”. As typical of Dye designed courses, the course demands precision and avoidance of trouble. When Pete Dye died in 2020, some of his ashes were spread behind the 8th green - look closely for the memorial plaque.

Rest of the World TourThe Rest of the World Tour heads to Northern Ireland to Royal County Down Golf Club. Located in Newcastle, County Down, the course opened on March 23, 1889 and is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ireland. It has two 18 hole links courses, the Championship Course and the Annesley Links. Royal County Down has made outstanding contributions to Irish golf from the Club’s beginnings, hosting many important tournaments starting soon after it opened, and continuing to present day. Notably, in 2007, it became just the second Irish venue to host the Walker Cup. Other notable events hosted include The Irish Open in 2015 and The British Ladies Amateur Golf Championship in 2019. The course was designed by jayjohnson7 and reflects recent renovations to the course. The pond was removed on the 17th. The dune ridge was lowered on the 2nd to allow a better view of the green. There are new bunkers on the 5th and 8th holes plus new championship tees on the 12th and 16th holes.
