Finishing up for the week.
First two rounds, no excuses; just played like a gibbon. These last two rounds were ridiculous. I probably did okay to shoot the scores I did, to be honest, given I had three balls out of bounds in rounds 3 and 4. I just don't get how much smoother the game can play one day and how stuttery-to-all-f*ck it is the next.

OFTR @ Moonrise Cay I always seem to screw up the OFTR rounds. They're my bogey rounds in every sense, and I can't quite fathom why. I guess it's psychological, too many bats in the belltower or something, but this week I particularly distinguished myself with a couple of rancid bookends to my round. I fluffed my drive on the first into the scrub on the right, but I had a view for my rescue shot. Somehow though I managed to hit an invisible sequoia with an almighty smack that resounded in my ears. That left me in an untenable position, and sure enough led to a bogey right off the bat. I fought to regain my composure and salvage my scorecard, and had dragged it back to an improved but still unremarkable -7 by the time I teed off on the 18th, hoping to finish on -8. But the course had other ideas for me, and after another fluffed drive I hacked out short of the watery chasm, or so I thought. I ran a little too far and rolled into the rocks just before the water, and then my troubles really began. For my third shot, I had no view. I mean, no matter what I did I couldn't see my player or, more crucially, my lie. I took a guess for my line and lie and guessed wrong and went into the water. But my drop brought me back to the exact same spot another two times after my next blind shot ricocheted into the wet as well, and I was given no choice about where to drop. Eventually I managed to dig myself out at the third or fourth attempt, but by then my round had cratered and I picked up a quintuple bogey 10 to finish. Sigh. Big, big sigh. Pub Clap - week 2 part 2 I flopped in a shot for eagle on hole 5 in R4. That was the only decently good thing to happen in the last 2 rounds.   SkyBlueBen

OFTR - week 2 Only real blemishes were the bogey on 7 (which could have been much worse considering I was hugging a rock side left of the green on second shot), and the 18th which I made a mess of. 31 points however is the best I've played these in... ever?  SkyBlueBen

Knockout - Long Island R16 vs. The Vandaelay Industries (a joke on how the CC event is named!) man himself Art Vandelay . Despite our seemingly big gap in score, closer affair in match play. Got rocked early to be down 1, then made 2 just about 30 footers on 2 and 3 to swing the other way. Chipped in on 18 for the final seal that had already happened on my count, however had those 2 previously mentioned putts missed, that would have been for the save on the match. Good game, was a fun change of pace to bring a ghost along.  prowse00
