Pub Crawl @ Stonefly. Nice course! Props to Violinguy69 for putting that one together and kudos for having it chosen as the season opener. I must admit that I approached my first tee shot of the new season with what could safely be described as seismic levels of apprehension. My pre-season practice rounds showed great variety, in the same way as there is a great variety of dung at the zoo. But that's okay, put that behind you Nige, just a nice fairway ahead and a completely unblemished scorecard excitedly waiting for you to put some circles on it. Off we go and....bam....sliced into the rough. Yeah, put a circle round that one, sucker.  And then something strange happened. I caught a flyer from the rough and it bounced and trundled all the way up to the pin, leaving me a nice short birdie putt. That was unexpected. So was birdying the next two holes, and adding another 8 birds and an eagle after that to finish with a 59. Holy implausibility, Batman.  Armed with new found confidence and a laughably misplaced belief that I might be able to control which direction my iron shots went in, I teed off in R2. My drive split the fairway, which was an immediate mistake. I only know how to play #1 from out of the rough, and consequently fluffed my next shot and struggled to save par. Ah, now this I recognise. But, I started to find some kind of groove again and made the turn in -5 which was, quite frankly, delightful. I had a slight wobble on #11 when my golf ball scurried away like it was urgently seeking a tree to pee behind, but I zipped it back up and managed to land a 63 for the round.  So that's me at the halfway stage, sitting on -22. Scarcely credible, and almost certainly unsustainable, but I'm liking this game right now as a result.   Art Vandelay |

Art VandelayRum Raider Action. Pub Crawl. Took a while to settle in. Bogeyed 1 & 2 of R1. Great start to the season. And then forgot to snap my R4 card.... SkyBlueBen Bear jg24kl Any chance one of you (or anyone else..) could ghost my R4 and post it? Apologies. Pretty solid start to the season all round....  Cheers.
