Pub Crawl
Rounds 3 and 4
It was a real struggle to score in the really tough conditions and pin placements in round 3.
I played well on the front 9 in round 4 but booked a ticket on the par train on the way back to the clubhouse.

Bandits kicked off the week, off the back of a narrow defeat but were able to brush last weeks antics aside with a dominating encounter over the Casuals. CF from the Casuals provided the only defense of the week picking up a couple of points early doors on the 1st day and taking victory over Mark in the matchplay on the final day. Mr Stevenson shot the highest R3 score of the week but was still not enough to overcome the Bandits. Pen and Tomi took full points for the week which inevitably meant blobs for the Casuals followed. Raiders and Brewers are battling hard for 2nd place this season which lined this week's match up to be thriller. Raiders posted the highest team score of the week but this didn't stop the Brewers from taking this to the wire. Despite the Brewerβs best efforts, ultimately the lead acquired by the Raiders on Day 1 was the pinnacle point and deciding factor this week. Stunts had the task of taking on the leading As You Brew team. Early signs of an upset was on the cards, with the Stunts taking control on Day 1. Normal service resumed though with Ross rallying his troops. Sean and Scott took a win on Day 3, but apart from that solo result, it was business as usual, with As You Brew blowing away the competition. The Royals and the Hobgoblins finish the proceedings this week. Charles took the honour of highest scorer this week, just missing out on sketching his name into the 50+ club this week. The rest of the field provided a close contest. The pendulum swung from round to round but as the final balls dropped into the cup, there was nothing between these two this week. Bandits 16 vs 4 Casuals Raiders 11 vs 9 Brewers Stunts 6 vs 14 As You Brew Royals 10 vs 10 Hobgoblins 50+ ClubNo entries this week. Art VandelayReally struggled out there today, couldn't get close to the hole and when I did putting was off. Refused to go out for the 4th so thought I'd play OFTR. How a game can change from course to course. CC R1 -5 R2 -9 R3 -2 R4 (will complete when I famcy a bit of misery, later in the week). OFTR

Birdie??? I was 6 inches from an Alba! Eagle baby! π. An eagle is an awesome result IRG. Have only got 5 in my life and 4 of those were Aces. Well done Sir... Damn Ross. 4 aces? Thatβs insane. Iβve been playing for 30+ years and still have yet to get an ace. Very close a number of times but you know what they say. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride

Okay, folks. Seeing as I'm back, I just wanted to say a big thank you for all the very kind messages. They meant a very great deal to me and were instrumental in me changing my mind.
prowse00 , your video made me howl with laughter.
Harveydog500 your pic hit me right in the feels. I love cats with a real passion, so that one really got me.
SkyBlueBen thank you. Hearing that I'd be welcomed back made my day and helped a great deal.
inflames47 I'd have missed you a great deal too, my friend.
Those are the ones that stick in my mind right now, so apologies if I've missed anyone. To all the rest of you, thank you so much for calming this grizzled old bear and making him see sense. I'm grateful to each and every one of you.
So there you go. You're stuck with me now. I might still post -- "might" lol -- grumpy messages, but I ain't going anywhere.
Also, I wanted to contribute to the HIO/Jessica chat. I stopped playing around 20 years or so ago. Health issues and change of priorities put paid to my 5 handicap. Ho hum.
If I recall correctly, I ended up with 5 HIOs and a 1-foot miss for a Jessica. I was playing the 13th at Trevose Golf Club in Cornwall, back around 1997 or so. Fabulous golf course and a real links experience. I've hit 64-degree wedge on the par 3 3rd hole in the morning the day before -- around 140 yards -- and come up 20 yards short in the afternoon with a 3 iron, but I digress. The 13th was playing around 550 yards that afternoon, decently downwind, and the fairways were pretty firm. My teeshot was high on the face, but had I around 250 to go. Hit 6 iron that flew about 210 and then ran and ran and ran. I couldn't see its progress much after it landed because of the bumps and slopes. When we got up to the green, my ball was around a foot from the hole. The group teeing off on the next hole said it lipped out. It's hard to feel angry when you have a tap-in eagle, but what might have been lol
Well, there's my story. Thought I'd share.
TBC forever
