I agree with Bear , inflames47 and others that the real gripe is the sameness of the courses each week and the lack of variation from round to round. They are all quality constructions but variety is the spice of life. If it wasn't for this society I would have given up playing CC long ago. I also think the community loses out when we don't hold the National Treasure contest each year. It forces designers out of their comfort zones and produces the most varied range of courses of any competition. Also, I've managed to run the XB Seniors with its wide range of skill sets for many years and I've never had a complaint of the sameness of courses. It isn't difficult. Vary the theme each week over a two month cycle; mix up the various tee sets each event; vary the conditions, including rain; pick some courses with elevation changes, etc. I use the course database and the completed course thread to pick my courses and I donβt have the luxury of rangering beforehand. This is pretty much the same as our OFTR and KO Cup course picks here. Spot on. Loved many of the National Treasure designs and it was fantastic how various designers brought out the flavour of the country they were designing for. Used a number from that competition on our various societies.

Have had some unseasonably warm weather lately. Woke up this morning and Mother Nature had a reminder that there is still another month of winter π₯Ά. Took these on my walk this morning. Almost had to put some track pants on, but the shorts were fine π. Happy Birthday to all the horses today.

Pub Crawl @ The Chop Match Club. Round 1: Round 2:
I feared the worst when I needlessly dropped a shot almost immediately in R1, because I have a history of delivering the worst. But I managed to avoid further catastrophes and got to -3 at the turn. The back 9 was a far better neighbourhood for me to hang out in, with seven birds and an eagle to leave me feeling cheery and quite self-satisfied on -11. R2 got off to another slow start, though thankfully without an early bruise on the card. I was trundling along quite nicely until a I played a shot of such monumental worthlessness on #8 that I was lucky to escape with just the single bogey. But I was feeling pretty grrrrrr about it, and also noticing that the game was slowing down again. The transitions between holes were stretching out from about 20 seconds at the start to 1-2 minutes by this point. The sensible move at that point would have been to walk away and finish it off tomorrow morning when the servers don't have smoke pouring out of them, buuuuut where's the fun in walking away? For once, playing on was an accidentally wise decision, as I snaffled seven birds in the final 10 holes for -10. That's me in the clubhouse on -21 at the halfway point, and I like it. Fingers crossed it'll help my fellow Hobgoblins, because I've been a Hobblinggoblin so far this season. Art.

Not interested in joining the courses discussion and everything that has happened here in OUR thread. Totally behind all the members of this Society. Was out doing my 6 Km walk this morning, listening to one of my Play lists on Spotify, when this gem from the past came on. Brought a smile to my face and thought it basically summed up my feelings on things. Just substitute Post for Dance π. AsYouBrew 4ever π»

Art Vandelay My knees where shaking standing at the 1st tee box and had a rough round 1 trying to impress the new team. Righted the ship a little in round 2 trying to earn a call back! Gonna call it for the night and regroup for remaining rounds. Round 1: -6 Round 2: -10

Pub Crawl Week 4 Art Vandelay Pressure on from the get go with the Raiders Captain Ben SkyBlueBen posting some seriously good scores already. Started slowly, but my partner Christian liebs44 had my back, so I didn't panic. Managed to bring it home well to secure the first points of the week for the Team π. The next 2 rounds were error free and very happy with the scores. The final round, I played with a copy of Ben's scorecard close at hand. Panicked on the 2nd hole when my ball somehow stopped at the top of a hill on the green. 4 putts later, double bogey. Thank goodness this was Matchplay π’. All square after 2. Couldn't match Ben's eagle on the 3rd, so was 1 down after 3. After that, I settled in and played some pretty good golf and managed to take the points. Great match Ben. A bit disappointed to miss an eagle putt on the last to get to -60, but that double cost me. Anyway, good luck everyone, and as always, AsYouBrew 4ever π». Cheers Ross.

Out of my depth with my first go in Tier 1 but enjoying the challenge Ross. Same with Elite. Seem to be settling into mediocre scores ensuring missed cuts.
