Cecil Harvey summed it up pretty nicely. PS5 definitely loads the game up faster initially and there may be a slight speed increase when getting into rounds, both local and online/societies. If there are any graphical enhancements it's tough to notice (as I expected since I don't believe this game got any kind of patch like other games have in advance of the new systems dropping). I did not have to re-do my bag or character or anything like they did though. Just pushed all of my saved game data to the cloud before I turned the PS4 off, downloaded it back to the PS5, and it was exactly as I had left it. Getting to the controller. . .I had a terrible week playing last week. I played 2 practice rounds in advance of my society event and shot -10, -8 and then went out the next night and shot +4 in my first round and struggled in every round I played throughout the rest of the week. My swing plane was everywhere, even with putting. I used the same PS4 controller I'd been using since the game came out so I wondered if HB did something server side or if my controller just picked a bad time to start acting up. The PS5 controller is something else. It's a noticeable uptick in build quality (definitely has a heavier feel) and my swing is pretty much back to what it was. I'm sure it's mostly in my head but I really do feel the newer, tighter controller has helped me out a bit, if nothing else to give me some confidence back. I played my first society round event last night and managed to beat all of my practice round scores so I'm tentatively optimistic going forward, haha. No stutters to report as of yet, everything has been super smooth and solid. My only gripe isn't related to PS5 at all, just my own dumb brain. . .I'd gotten used to the back button attachment on PS4 so every time I'm wanting to hit L1 (which I had set to one of the back buttons) to check the lie and alter shot shape I end up hitting L2 instead. Just have to relearn that button muscle memory or hope Sony eventually does an attachment for the DualSense. I'm kinda surprised they didn't since the PS4's came so close to the end of the cycle.

Mine was just dropped off. Going through the setup now and downloading some stuff. No Man’s Sky is going to be first to be played, so I’m waiting on it to download.

Hey all, I've been around here for a while now and that may make you think I'm a "gamer". However I play 1 game...this one. So I'm sort of a neophyte when it comes to gaming systems, controllers and the technical aspects of things. My question is this: When PS5 drops is it a good idea to pick it up if I only play this game? Or should I stick with PS4? Or stick with PS4 until the bugs of PS5 are ironed out? Help an old fella out. Thanks in advance. There's one huge IF that's looming regarding your question: will PGA TOUR 2K21 be updated in a patch to free it from the 30 FPS lock to which it's currently relegated on the PS4 and PS4 Pro? If they add a couple of lines of code and install a sortware switch that allows PS5 users an option to disable vsync, and/or set vsync to 60 Hz, and/or include a Variable Refresh Rate option for owners of VRR capable displays, the answer would be a resounding YES, as this would allow the PS5 to run 2K21 at 60 FPS, or higher. This game is transformed into something truly special at 60 FPS. 2K21's tempo component suddenly feels like something you can manage with the degree of fidelity needed to make it feel properly scaled. You have to feel it to appreciate it, as the experience is so much more visceral. I'm hoping that HB Studios is actually planning to go a little beyond their only comment on the question of next-gen backward compatibility regarding the PS5 and XBox Series X. When asked in the Reddit PGA TOUR 2K forum Q&A about it, Shaun West responded: "There will not be a bespoke version of the game for the new platforms but PGA TOUR 2K21 will support backward compatibility." That's about as non-committal a statement as they could make on it, but a safe one. I don't know that it's going to take much of an effort, if any, to simply make it backward compatible, and make it indistinguishable from the PS4 Pro in appearance and performance. I'll be very disappointed if they don't at least unlock vsync to enable ~60 FPS performance on the PS5. On pc with 120 frames at 4K it truly looks like a modern golf game

Firstly the ps5 is a beast! Ive had mine since uk release date 19/11 and have mainly been playing the new cod and warzone with little time for the golf. I literally did my last 2 tgct events on it with limited practice but it felt good. This weekend ive put a few hours practice in which i hadnt really wanted to do cos i was bored of the lack of feel playing pga2k21. The ps5 has rejuvinated my lack of love for the game and i am actually really enjoying playing atm. The ps5 isnt going to be the amazing tempo fix that everybody thinks it will but you do get a better feedback when swinging and that is all you should want. On ps4 i find it easier to hit perfect due to the lack of polling points due to the ds4 but at the same time you can hit shots on ps4 that leave you bemused when you get a red slow from a swing that feels good and completely out of nowhere derail your round. Ps5 you seem in complete control of the club. This has its challenges but is much more rewarding. I find that my swing rarely goes red slow now but you also have to be right in the groove to get a run of perfect. On ps4 id only get a few points register in the perfect zone whereas on ps5 the feedback for swing and tempo is consistent with you get out what you put in and i find i play now allowing for a slight mishit. Perfect to slight fast/slow but i still get red fasts if i get a little eager. On the whole. Much more enjoyable as if u hit a bad shot its on you more than ps4

On pc with 120 frames at 4K it truly looks like a modern golf game I'd say it would... WOW! Would you care to give your system specs? I'd like to know what it takes to run it in 4K @ 120 FPS. Also, could I ask you to do a favor? Would you try playing a round at the new official Detroit Golf Club and see if your system can still maintain 120 FPS at 4K? IMO, Detroit GC has overtaken Quail Hollow as the most stringent test for the hardware, IMO. I normally run at 4K, and range between 50 - 62 FPS on most courses, but at Detroit GC, I have to cut it back to 1440p, and I'm all the way down to 40 - 45 FPS. I run the PC version with vsync off, BTW, but I hardly ever notice screen tearing. I have to take my focus off the golfer and ball and look for it to see it.

Actually I’m sorry my monitor runs at 120 but it’s 1080, my tv runs at 4K at 60. However it runs like butter and I’m on a 1060, so I didn’t find this game to be resource intensive at all

I've got a GTX 1070 8GB graphics card, but think my i5-4440 3.1 GHz CPU is now the bottleneck in my system.

Moved from XB1 to PS5 and the game is more fun to play, I am hitting more fairways and greens now making the game more enjoyable (whilst still retaining some difficulty)
Risk / Reward shots are now exactly that rather than just being an instant double or worse.

Just got my PS5 today. First thing -> loaded up the designer for a comparison (vs old PS4 slim 500gb). I loaded up my latest, Cape Canary (100% plant meter) and some of my older courses. I also started a course from scratch. I measured and timed; placement of objects, play testing a hole, backspace/undo, menu loading time and a few more. I can gladly confirm that the speed has improved significantly. Loading time, switching between objects (trees etc), is about 2x faster. Loading time when play testing is reduced significantly and is about 2-3x faster. Object placement is also about 2x faster. Overall its a big improvement and it did everything at least twice as fast. There is still a slight lag when switching between objects, but its not anything compared to my PS4. This is definitely a motivational boost for me
