I play on the PC but I set up my PS4 controller through Steam. Up until today I had not been using haptic feedback (I actually assumed that it wouldn't work through Steam and never tried to set it up). When I logged in today to play my first couple rounds (I'm in the Beer League because I'm new to the game and still not good at it), my PS4 controller wasn't responding for some reason. I went into Steam and clicked some stuff and got it working again. Then when I started playing my round I realized that I had turned on the haptic feedback - no idea how I did it though lol.
I shot my best two rounds so far in competition (-7 and -5), whereas before this I had finished barely under par twice I think. I don't think the haptic feedback really helped me at all with distance, but I find that it really helped me with my tempo. I think I was holding my backswing for just a little too long beforehand, but with haptic on, my approach shots were hugely improved which led to quite a few more birdies than I would normally get.
So, why all the hate on haptic feedback on this forum? So many people said they hated it and turned it off immediately. I might eventually turn it off in the future (if I can figure out how, that is), but right now I'm finding a huge improvement with it on.

Don’t sweat it trigs...most of the hate comes from people who think they should dictate how others play the game. If it’s not this it’ll be something else because victimhood, disguised as “fair play” runs rampant. Play your game so long as the rules of TGC Tours allow it.

I actually use the haptic because it adds some weight to the shot. It adds a certain heaviness because it feels like I’m swinging a whiffle ball bat otherwise. And the buzzing happens so quickly that once you feel it it’s too late so to speak.

It cannot be changed on TGCTours' end, so the point is moot. It's an aid pure and simple. It's basically the Houston Astros banging trash cans letting you know when to follow through, or even better... Jose Altuve wearing a buzzer on his shoulder under his uniform.
OP's post basically proves it is an aid.

Because it is an aid that takes skill learning out of the equation via a shortcut.
As it is a user end setting and not a difficulty option, there is no point in a debate on it here as TGCTours or society admins cannot pick on/off/open for this.
Also, mouse users have no such way to utilize it.

Of course it is an aid, but unless you are playing True Sim, everybody is playing with some sort of aid.

But the haptic feedback is so far removed from anything in actual golf that it can only be construed as an aid purely for video game purposes to make it easier and "more friendly" for casual fans. At a competitive site it should have no business being an option. But, again, nothing can be done about it so carry on all. Do your thing and have fun.

I hate it because it’s like someone punching you in the shoulder mid swing. I have no issue with people using it I just find I play better with it off.

It's about as 'video gamey' as the scout cam.

I don't hate it, I just found it annoying for most shots other than putts. I've figured out a nice rhythmic tempo now without it, so no use going back to it. I did find it useful for putting early on, but it wasn't worth the annoyance on full swings. My technique probably doesn't help either though, I'm usually "overswinging" in the 101-103% range, and doing that makes it really rumble.

Do agree it is video gamey, but there are things that happen in the game that wouldn't happen in real life. You would never accidentally hit a pitch when you meant to hit a flop. You can physically see your ball in the rough (can't always in the game). You can see how much hill you are on (can't in sand and some rough), etc. Of course the game has advantages as well. I definitely don't know the exact wind speed IRL. Most important, agree - can't do anything about it, so nothing to see here!

And anyways, I think she put on that voice for show.

From my perspective, I like to play this game quickly. Sure, I may lose a few strokes here and there on the greens, but at least I can fly through a round in 10-15 minutes or so. Turning haptic on slows everything down because it usually involves a few practice swings to nail the timing on the greens. I know I could still play quickly with it on, but it gets in my head that maybe my idea of speed is off.
Also...again just my opinion...but the joy of putting is about 'pace' and 'line'. When you get both of those right, it's satisfying and feels like an accomplishment (especially with big breakers). Having 'pace' tied to haptic feels cheap. Personally, I think higher difficulties (master and legend) should automatically have the setting off and greyed out.
