Since the shot shaper is effed in this game, and I've always worked the ball against the wind- Off the tee: Slow for right to left wind Fast for left to right wind Perfect for neutral wind. I try to stay away from very fast or very slow bc they end up in bad places.
Approaches: mostly perfects unless I'm between clubs and need to over hit something. 180y into a high wind for example (we all have gaps in our bag- mine is carrying 185-195y).
There seems to be a push in the higher division by a few certain people for Perfect to be the standard- fixing the shot shaper and and making very fasts more random would go a long way to solving that issue.

-10 -11 -6 -9
-36 for the 4 rounds for me. Only 1 bogey for the whole tournament which was great and overall played really well. Missed 4-5 really makable putts in round 3 which hurt. Round 4 I was -7 through 9 and playing great, back 9 was a different story tho unfortunately. If I could become consistent I might have a shot one day. Big IF tho. Good luck to everyone and well done to those shooting super low. Very impressive

I spent last season mid-table in the KF tour where i enjoyed the courses, the conditions and the banter, it looks like i'm going to be mid-table Elite this season, this isn't an issue as the courses have been good, the conditions fair and folk are getting involved with the forum thread. I play for perfect swing timing on approaches and slight fasts on drives (so that i avoid slows), i DO NOT have a problem with people playing for Very Fast as its a mechanic in the game and it's their choice because its in the rules. But I would be interested in a quick show of hands to see if this Tour is mainly made up of Very Fast swingers (ala the top of Platinum) or Perfect swingers ? I only ask because i was looking on twitch yesterday to see how people were attacking pins at the front of greens and noticed a few Elite competitors swinging Very Fast. I tend to assume I'm going to hit a fast on pretty much everything I hit. I certainly intend to hit slight red-fasts off the tee and with fairway woods and long irons (depending on wind conditions etc). I have a good 45 yard gap in my bag between 3-wood and hybrid so I sometimes hit the intentional slow on the 3-wood to cut back on the distance a little. Mid and short irons, and wedges, I try and hit perfects as much as possible but still tend to hit grey-fasts at least. To me, the punishment for an unintended slow is just way too big a gamble so I'd rather aim a little right and short and hit an unintended perfect than aim dead straight and get a very slow. As a 10 handicap IRL, this game feels much more relatable in terms of variability of swing than the previous versions of the game. Definitely understand how it's not everyone's cup of tea though :-)

Made the cut at -15 and finished the week at -29. Nothing spectacular but my game is slowing inching back to where it was when I made PGA at the end of last season. Still a lot of work to do, especially with the pitch/flop/splash shots within 50 yards, but that’ll come with more repetition.
To answer the previous question posed, I’m a perfect swinger. Slight fasts off the tee if I need extra distance but I try for perfect on almost every swing. Not a fan of the very fast and I’m still of the opinion it’s gonna be either patched or legislated out of the tours eventually.

Barely made the cut and started round three on a terror with five birdies and an eagle on the front nine. I hit the back nine and played 'safe' golf for the next several holes, never really challenging the pin because I wanted to make sure I didn't throw away a great front nine with bogies. After my 7th par in a row, I decided I needed to try something and went eagle/birdie for the final two holes. -10 in some wicked winds puts me in contention for a promotion mark.
Round 4 looks nasty with high winds and Very firm, very firm and very fast fairways/greens.

I think the winner definitely gets close to a 50 burger Close! But no cigar so far. There is one person who is -26 thru 2 rounds though, so I won't declare the 50 burger dead just yet. But current leader at -46. Something I think is fun... only 4 people who got promo marks last week are currently in line to get one again this week in the top 20 (15% of 136 participants this week). So we seem to have a good amount of shift between the first two weeks as far as level of play and a balanced competition.

Hey guys... what are ‘promo marks’? www.tgctours.com/Home/RulesPolicies#demotionsPromotion and Demotion marks are how you move up and down on the tours. 3 promotion marks in Elite and you will move up to Platinum. 5 demotion marks and you move down to Kinetic. Top 7.5% (usually the top 10 players or so) get 2 promotion marks for the week. Top 15% (usually the top 20 or so) get 1 promotion mark. Bottom 15% get 1 demotion mark, bottom 7.5% get 2 demotion marks (me this week). There are other moving parts too that you can read up on in the link about missing cuts, making cuts, etc.

-9, -10, -9, -8 -36 total
71 good holes and a R4 4 putt (last 3 from 4'). I'm not even gonna look at the Leaderboard bc I know those 2 extra putts will be the difference in the greenies.

Finished with a disappointing 65 in round four. A bogey free round but just lipped out too many putts. I figured i needed at least 2-3 less strokes to get that first promotion mark. It is still progress from last week. I'm hitting between 70-80% of my GIR so it is really coming down to putting. I'm still getting used to the much faster pace of short putts, which I still blast by the hole too many times and thus taking any break out of my putts.
2/2 in cuts tho!! Onward to next week!

Do you guys play practice rounds? I've been playing one then firing up my tourny rounds. Thinking maybe I should change that up a bit. Just want to hear from others what their tourny prep is.

I usually play a couple practice rounds on the first pin to just see where the landing areas are and do a little course planning. From there once we get the conditions. I'll play a round with those conditions. If i'm shooting well, I may quit out after 6 holes and play my round. If I'm struggling, I'll play out the round.
Pretty simple. I don't play with ghosts or anything like that. Me against the course.
