Good morning, dear interestedly uninterested reader, I played my rounds yesterday evening. As my ambitions for making the cut were blown away (got it, thewind ?) early in round 1 last week, I tried to stay in cut line territory as long as possible. And what a nice start to a tournament it is when you hole out the very first hole with a nice 70 yard pitch! It certainly helps building confidence. Well, at least for the front nine. Because after taking the turn at -7, I only managed to conclude with a (still satisfying) -9. In round 2, my swing issues (since last weekend I throw in a bunch of slow approaches) got me in trouble multiple times. I don't know if there is such a thing as scrambling for bogey, but that's how it felt. Apart from these 4 bogies, everything's been fine, though, as I collected 8 birds as well en route to a -4, leaving me at -13 halfway through. Free from any cut line pressure ("I wasn't nervous. Nooo, of course not!"), I added another very elegant yet unspectacular -10 in round 3. Apparently, I saved all the drama for the final round. This time, I forgot how to putt, overestimating all the side breaks. I do have the impression that side breaks cause less deviation on 187 (or, more generally, faster) greens, though. Anybody else? Luckily, I chipped like a real Platinum player, as I got -5 out of my total -4 (1 bogey) exclusively out of chip-ins. Sorry for the long text, here is the wrap-up: Good luck!

Anybody else? I think 187s can cause confusion due to the colour changes. I’ve found it better to look at the bead movement speed, which pretty consistently effects putts at every speed. Hadn’t played this course before but keeps you interested throughout. Had a bang average first round with a string of pars early on the front 9. Flipped that with -8 on the front 9 R2, and -22 at the cut. Don’t feel quite as confident in my game post-phantom update but I’m sure it’ll come back.

@up mup kupen nup -22 for the Golden Cow. Back to earth for me and played about as bad as I expected. I need to learn how to not hit f'ing slows.

Hey up mup, what’s going on with the golden calf hunt? Haven’t heard from you in a few days. You got to keep the Plat. thread updated. Hey Gary, I'm glad that you ask! You are very interestedly uninterested. I like that! Moreover, it might earn you a guest appearance. Or, maybe, a special Cow at the end of the season. You can even still register and try to get one of the regular Cows, as registration is free until the end of this week's event! So, now, back to your question... As you can see by following this link, I have updated the leaderboard yesterday. I always try to do this on Sundays unless, of course, life gets in the way. For the participants posting in the separate thread, I included another (hopefully identical) leaderboard right here. By the way, if you follow that last link and then scroll down, you will notice that there have been posted some fresh new competitive scores for this week as well already. I suggest you consider posting in there so that you stay updated via the 'Participated' button. On Thursday, I will post the midweek update in here and in the dedicated Cow thread, which you will be following by then. On a side note, I'll try to play my Cow rounds tonight or tomorrow. Cheers, Kevin PS: I am particularly delighted that you could discern the first name Up Mup from the last name Kupen Nup, as intended. I think he prefers to go by Bababooey... and if I'm reading between the lines, this place is more geared to general complaining (stay off my lawn!). noine noine noine noine noine noine noine noine noine

Ugh. Went into round 2 after a couple of solid practice rounds feeling good about making the cut. Then a three putt bogey on #2 put me off track, but I was able to pull it back with 4 front side birdies for a 33 and still on pace. Okay, a decent back 9 and I'm good. Unfortunately, a slight slow on the approach to #10 short sided me in the right bunker. My out was very strange, as the lie wasn't good, so I figured I'd get some roll out. Nope, no roll out. I lost distance as expected with a bad lie, but the ball actually backed up off the green. WTF? Proceeded to take 3 more shots to get in the hole for a double. I figured at this point I really needed to go low the rest of the way for a chance at the cut. I managed three birdies to be at -5 going into 18. An eagle might do the trick, right? How about a three putt par instead sir? Yeah, that's the ticket. Let's leave the first putt short enough to be mildly interesting, then not take our time with the birdie putt and miss low. FML, sitting on the cut line right now, but I'm pretty sure I'll miss by 1 or 2 when more rounds come in...

Seems I’ve gone from 9th to 8th. 🤔
I'm guessing the leaderboard needed a shave? It was too... oh I'll stop.

-11/-6 over the weekend to finish -39.
My first dropped shots of the event in R4 and had 3 of them when I needed to play perfect golf. Putted off the green on the 3rd then left the putt coming back in the heart. Played an awful recovery shot on 12 and done in by that orange slope on 15.
Enjoy what’s left of your rounds everyone.

Finished up. By far my best full 4 round event in the new game thus far I think. Left a few out there as we all do, but felt like ballstriking was on point - able to hit "touch" perfects on approach when the number was right, aimpoints off the tee were solid, etc. Putting was about as good as I've had post-phantom patch, though I did feel like reading gridlines instead of trusting bead movement was huge on this course. For whatever reason, felt like more often than not the beads were more inaccurate, either in speed of movement or just not moving at all when there was break, than in most other courses I've played in 2k so far. No clue why or what causes that, but that variable definitely played out here, for me at least.
Anyway, -20 over the weekend, hope to finish within 5 shots (maybe 10?) of the leader when all is said and done...hopefully.

So, is a missed cut a demotion mark?
My -13 is going to miss the cut by a stroke.
