Played all four rounds today and although I'll probably make the cut (-7 after two) that is the only positive for me this week as I fell back to a final score of -5. That's the same score I had after only 7 holes in the first round, feeling I might have a chance to play for the win... Well wasn't that silly of me 😂 Now this is exactly why I both hate and absolutely love this game, if you lose focus for only a second it can completely throw you off your game, just like playing for real 😊

I’m wondering how the first one round week of qualifying is going to play out this week. Will we get a large uptick in the amount of participants? Will the top of the leaderboard be full of ‘rookie” qualifiers? Should be interesting. In the last game the CC had a fair amount of first week qualifiers blip in, win the week and go on to the division they should ultimately be in. Ahh, the drama in my mind. Lol.

I knew I should have held off playing.
Played yesterday.
First 3 holes red fasts into left hand bunker. No matter how much I tried I couldn't get out of the fasts.
OK, trying to play "properly" and for perfects wasn't getting me anywhere.
Time to play "the fasts"....aim way right, take shot...very slow...This is the moment I glanced over at the metal fork on the table then the electrical outlet on the wall.
So I muddled my way through the 2 rounds.
Round 2 was kind of ugly. Should have really paid more attention to the flashing connection icon. My internet yesterday was sporadic at best. Think that was really messing with my tempo.
Final insult to injury. 15'th hole par 5. Get my 3'rd shot close, easy birdie. Flashing icon-you have lost your connection. Restart game. Puts me back to my 3'rd shot..which I accidently pitch way the F over the green. Makes bogey. Grabbed a video of that whole mess lol
21% driving accuracy.
77% green in regulation.
lol.
I'll be testing the new demotion icons.
And final natterings.
I never liked the idea of cuts on CC. Always play my 4 rounds in one sitting. Now I reverse that thinking. I don't have to muddle through 2 more rounds knowing I'm bottom feeding the leader board. Can focus on next week.
Best of luck to those who have yet to play.

11 birdies and 2 very avoidable bogeys for an opening round of -9. Sitting on 2 promos after last week, so hoping I can push on from that promising opener and get myself up to CC-B.

Planning to play at least the first round when I get home later. Just looking at the hole stats, 16, 17 and 18 are all playing over par. Tough finish then?!
Interesting player joining us this week after a lightning promotion from CC-D last week. Brionne Beaumont-Thomas, former WGR1 back in the early TGC1 days and winner of some big tournaments including the Players. TGCT royalty, mixing it with us common folk!
(Don't know if you read these forums Brionne, but enjoy your stay )

Another thing with the scoring, 90 players on the board as I type and the top 60% are -1 and better. The good thing with working out cutlines based on percentage of players is they never move very much. That means anything better than -1 is looking in a good position going in to round 2, and even those guys down towards the bottom of the leaderboard are only 2 or 3 shots off the pace. It's the same across most of the Challenge Circuit. I don't know if things will change as people figure the game out but right now the competition in these levels is very good.

Very frustrating first round, totally summed up by almost getting my first hole in one at 17 and then missing the short birdie putt. 62% on the 5-10 footers and 0% on anything over 10 feet, that ain't going to get it done. +1 72, not out of it but work to do....

So, you are the fellow co-leader with me at this moment. Played my round 2 tonight. Had a bad start with the worst pitch you will ever seen... Yet somehow scrambled for par. Battled to a great round... And missed what can be considered an easy gimme for birdie on the final hole. Still ending up 7-under so we will see how the leaderboard will shake up with my 2-round score of -16. Going to practice my wind game for those last 2 rounds, who are very windy

(Don't know if you read these forums Brionne, but enjoy your stay ) Hey Giraffe This made my day! Thank you for the recognition... I am truly flattered.. I did not think anyone would remember that far back or even notice I was trying to climb the mountain. The skill level required just to compete with you guys now is insane... The scores posted by the leaders are gonna be tough to match and I'm hoping to make a few cuts while I try and figure out this tempo swing. I'm sure I'll be around for a while Hopefully I can get my rounds in by Wednesday... Cape Town has a few internet problems at the moment. Keep it in the fairway

I wish you well on your journey, sir.

I wish I'd read Brionne 's advice to keep it in the fairway before I played round 2! This game is tough when you can't hit fairways. Or greens. I'm good at finding bunkers though, there is that. Feel like I've gone backwards this week. Some time on the range in order I think. 72 and 74 for +4 and a missed cut, a good chance of a demotion mark too. Oh well, see you next week.

72 and 74 for +4 and a missed cut, probably flirting with a demotion mark too. Oh well, see you next week. Look for me, I'm down below you a bit. Oh well the bottom of the leader board is where all the cool kids hang out anyway. edited the rest out because I'm losing my mind

I’m clueless as to why. But in round one I seemed to have lost calibration after the second hole. Next time I’m going to stop the round, go to the range and recalibrate and then restart where I left off. Just curious as to if anyone else has seen this. Not looking to start a conspiracy theory but I’m just scratching my head a bit. BTW after I finished the first round i recalibrated and played another society’s round without the big fasts. Miracle? IDK. Anyhooo. -3 for me round one. Riding the cut line.

meh. 78 67 for another missed cut and possible demotion. Meanwhile, I'm -6 after 2 rds on Platinum, -14 after 2 rds on Elite, and -11 after 2 rds on Kinetic. Doesn't make any sense that I play better on what should be harder courses/tours.

Doesn't make any sense that I play better on what should be harder courses/tours. It's 3 marks for promotion but 5 marks for a demotion, would be impressive if you pick that up in 2 weeks! You live to fight another day. Looking like 2 marks for me, I keep forgetting we get the round 2 leaderboard on a Tuesday.
