Tim, is that a Grit Laskin? Yes. Nice catch. Surprised to have someone recognize it. Had it since 1984. Technically the only owner of it. It sat in a glass case in Toronto in a guitar shop where a buddy (flipping guitars was his thing, vintage strats mainly) bought it from. He bought the two that were there. Mine has no inlay, it's sister (both made in 1980) had a really cool inlay of a old willow type tree catching a baby falling. Thing is even though it was a nicer looking guitar, it didn't have that "feel", punch or vibe that the one in my pic had. So I bought this one instead. My old strat on the same wall...sold that a few years back. One of those times I knew I made a mistake the minute I did it. Still regret it. Ancient old pic of them together back in about 85 after I got the Strat back from a restoration and refin. and my Washburn on the left. /sorry to wildly deviate from golf here guys...it like you all hit a very fast opening the thread and wound up in the rough or something lol/ Glad to see I'm not the only person who plays Washburns haha! I play a Washburn WA90CE and a Gretsch G9500 Jim Dandy. I've never had much of a budget to spend on guitars but I love the 2 I have wait... this is a golf forum?

I was in a bad accident and left with some serious injuries in 84, same year the guy I bought all my guitars from (everything in that one pic came from him.) and his 2 brothers won 100 thousand in the old Wintario lottery. They bought me that Wasburn. 2 years later another friend was in a bad accident and got paralyzed for life. I gave him the Wasburn as a kind of thing to help him adjust and focus his mind. His 1'st guitar. He now plays in a local band to this day, runs and organizes music events and has made a name for himself locally.

I felt good overall about my play for my first two rounds ever in a TGCT tournament...other than a four putt each round going back and forth on 6-8' sidehill putts. In the first round, it was a four putt bogey on the par 5 7th. In the second round, it was a four putt triple from 15' after missing the green on the 2nd hole. Fingers crossed that 67-71 (-6) is enough to make the cut this week.

Wow I love hearing stories like this (of course not about the accidents). But how a guitar sometimes has it's own story or journey with it. Awesome to hear you were able to pass it along to a friend who needed that escape. Plucking strings has always been one of my ways of getting into a better headspace. It's therapeutic in a way. Sounds like it had a great impact on his life despite a tough situation

Only the bottom 40% of the field miss the cut but at this point it would be just a shot in the dark to try to guess what the exact number will be for the cut line. Before any scores were posted I figured -5 might do it this week but I might be way off!

Yeah Justin, the cut is just too much of a swag at this point. The course has its own difficulties but my issue and I’m sure I’m not alone is the swing/putting is still so new that I’m still on a steep learning curve. And then there’s that pesky pitch shot tempo. The fairways being wide is a blessing, but the elevation of the greens and large contoured greens can turn a FIR into a scramble pretty quickly. I start tonight so I’m starting to get pumped.

Although I had hoped for a better performance in Q-school it feels good to start this season off in CC-C, the same place I began my tgct career a little over a year ago. I'm really looking forward to this season and I got off to a decent start at Windstone. 68, 71, 63 and 66 for a final score of -20. Would be a real bummer if -5 isn't enough to make the cut though, with the final two rounds by far beeing my best. I even made my first alby in 2k21, so I really hope it wasn't for nothing 🤞

Unfortunately my eyes are a bit blurry but I'm going to plough on regardless. I'm liking how this thread has started 👍

Well it's a -25 finish for me. I'd have happily taken that on the first tee in R1, but it's also a little disappointing after a 62 in R2 left me on -16. Was targeting high 20s from there, maybe 30 if things went really well. Approach shot tempo was a big problem in Rs 3&4.
All told, not a bad start to season 7 I guess. Be interesting to see how that shapes up in the final standings......I know it aint a winning score anyway.

My second round was a mix of both an awful start (2 over after 2), a great recovery (back to even par after 4), a few awful shots here and there and a good finish (birdied the last 2 holes)
2-under for the round. 7-under after 2 rounds. Should normally be alright to make the cut. I wanna see what the cutline will be before going after Round 3 tomorrow.

I do like that we now have cuts in the Challenge Circuit, despite being on the wrong side of it this week I think. Played the first two in one sitting. Overall I didn't play too badly but a couple of blow up greens in the first round led to an Even par start. The worst was a very makeable birdie putt which turned in to a 3 putt bogey, those ones sting! Went in to round 2 and dropped shots at both the first two and it was realistically all over. Again played ok without much luck, but managed to at least pull it back to something respectable.
72 and 70 for -2 at the cut. Not enough, but I enjoyed the course and am quite motivated to play at this level (unlike 2 seasons ago), which means I'll have fun. Good luck all, see you next week!

Round one started so slow I was thinking it was going to be a battle to stay around par. I even three putted from four feet on one hole. But it started to click on the back nine. -4

Tough luck buddy, yeah, the old running joke in KF was that after two, The Winnebago was gassed up for the drive to the next event. Maybe it’s an old Airstream behind the C-10 in the Cubed? Lol. I had one of those evil 3 putt bogeys in one, hoping to avoid them in two and dare I say it, beyond. 😳

Mine swings for a normal 101 baby fast to a killer slow if I drift. Problem is it takes some real focus to get it back and keep the zone from drifting. It’s a great part of this new game mechanics.

Got off to a hot start in R1 as I turned in -4. Then Tempo happened, but my fault and finished at -1. Then rage advanced into R2 and we know how that goes...E Round 2 to so a -1 36 hole score and free weekend for me. GL all and see you guys next week!
