I created about five courses for the old Links game, a couple of which were pretty popular. Is there anyone here who designed courses for the old Links game? There were a few guys who were real artists and did a great job. You could create your own textures in Photoshop, which really made for some unique looks.
The design engine on this game is a lot better and easier to work with.
Thanks, Ed

I did one course in Links LS back in the day - Zanzibar Golf Club. In the process of bringing it to 2k21.

It’s funny you bring this up. I was just on linkscorner tonight looking at some of his spectacular work. Mike Jones is excellent and the way he used textures and made bunker lips in links 2003 is insane. If there are downfalls to 2k21 it’s in textures and bunker lips and certain customization that we had on APCD.

True, there was more power to the APCD, but man it was a lot harder to work with.

Mike Jones was one of the main guys behind Perfect Golf, so it's safe to say he found an awesome design outlet. From what I understand they still have a reasonably active design community, Drgnslyr in particular (or however his SN is spelled) mainly does PG courses now.
I'm quite persistent but APCD looks like it would've been too tedious for me.

APCD had so much customization that it became nearly impossible to master. I messed around with PerfectGolf as well and found it almost as tedious. Honestly HB could still learn a thing or two from both of those previous games including custom textures, flags, Panaramic backgrounds and bunker lips, but having a designer that is easy to use is much much more important.
I for one am curious to see what kind of updates are made to the designer, but I do think much can easily be stolen from APCD or PerfectGolf
