just a quick question -
if we begin qualifying, i believe there is NO putting meter, correct? you have to figure out the % yourself?
or am i wrong?
and if so - can someone point me towards tips for learning that style of putting?
i've been playing "pga tour mode" and using the master difficulty, and though i am struggling, i have began to make some progress. however, i believe it gives me a target putting % to hit every time. i'm not sure what happens if this goes off - will i be putting the ball into lakes?!?
let me know any thoughts or tips - i'll appreciate it!

You put the putting marker where you think you should and the rumble in the controller tells you when you hit the white aiming zone. You can also do some practice swings and look at how much your putter moves and if the feedback is red, grey or white (but the dang thing flashes by really quick).

Yeah I was pretty crappy at it in the beginning but the more I play the more I get used to the approximate distance to pull the putter back to get the right speed to reach or just go past the hole. I get a bit messed up if I've been playing on reasonably fast greens and then come across a slow one, usually takes a few holes to get used to the different speed. As I do in real life I just go by feel and estimation, the feedback doesn't show up long enough in practice swings to be of any use to me, and IRL practice swings don't help me with putting either. The only time I use them IRL to gauge a swing is on pitches and chips.

So even the "Beer League" has no putt meter?
Message received: casual and less-skilled players are obviously not welcome anymore. This is really sad.

Did you play 2019? Its exactly the same thing lol, the meter is a distraction if anything, it took a week or so of playing a couple rounds a night to get the hang of it

putting feels so herky-jerky (and not smooth) in this game... If this is the case, then you're pulling the thumbstick back too far. You should be barely moving it backwards.

Agree, I pull the stick back as little as possible when putting. The putter swing back is then very slow. I do this multiple times (when no meter) to get a good idea where the rumble is. Only downside of that is it magnifies any directional error I might have made in that small pull back.

Came into 2k21 wishing they didn't have the meter, I was used to putting from 2019. Then used the meter for 2 weeks, went brainless while putting. Now I am 4 putting while trying to get back the feel for the putter!! Frustrating lol.

I got rid of the vibration. I was pulling it back slow to feel the vibration, but if you miss you're in trouble, an by pulling it back slowly I was always offline. I started pulling it back quick and just guessing on the distance and I'm so much better now. Different stroke for different folk I guess

I'm on M&K, so vibration was never an option. I went out to the Distance Control course in the game and charted out what percentage was needed for each distance on each green speed. I use that to figure out what percentage I need to get to the cursor distance, then rely on practice to know how far to let the animation go to get the desired percentage for the putt. I still can mess it up of course - try for 35%, accidentally get 42% and such, but overall, I'm putting fairly well now.

Wrote down the percentages for putting on 5y, 10y, 15y... all the way up to 100y. But it dosen't make sense, right? 5y:23% , 10y:30% , 15y:34% , 20y:38% , 25y:41% 30y:44% , 35y:46%. I don't get the logic of that. Can someone explain this to me? For now I have to go with af papersheet on my desk to play a videogame...
