Round 3 and it is obvious The Vandelay Way works somewhat on the front nine. -1 at the turn. Back nine not so much, lost my way, 3 Double Humphs in the last 4 holes for +8, +7 on the round and clinging to red figgers after 7 rounds at -1.
Round 4 and it is obvious The Vandelay Way works somewhat on the front nine. -1 at the turn. Back nine not so much, lost my way, pesky German on 16 when I established first hand that the trees are solid objects...the ball will not go through the trunk of one of these suckers. +10 inward, +9 for the round and +8 for qualifying.
Kinda relieved I will NOT be higher up as that -12 at Whiskey was not my normal stuff. Sure I am bummed I could not handle the pressure and yes I wanted to play better, but I am still learning this game and I am not ready to compete with better players. Plain and simple.
Onward to CC-Wherever. Will be happy with a card.

The OB on 14 is just insane IMO. Whether it’s the poor design tools or the designer, it sucks. It’s one thing to penalize bad shots but penalizing average shots is just brutal. Middle of the fairway in two rounds and hit the fringe and it’s OB. But hey, just my opinion...

was all over the place in regards to tempo, played 1 practice before and couldnt hit fast even when trying, then on 1 rounds it fast and slow started tag-teaming. still got lucky most of the times missing opposite side of water/ob. (1x water in round 1-2, then twice on the same hole in R3. missed quite a few putts being just on the edge, but then holed 2-3 lucky ones that i honestly had no business dropping, still probably lost about 10+ strokes or so the green R1-3. was gonna break after R2 but since i was happy with the result i kept going, ended R3 with two triples on 17th/18th (bye bye kinetic) on a more positive note i managed to avoid the OB spot so far, still have one round left so dont want to jinx it but that feels good. 66,65,72 i think the score was.

That was tense. First round has the moderate greens so it's the one to go low on for sure. Did around nine practice rounds and never made it to Even, but posted -2 here. Should have been delighted but was worried that my conservative putting would leave me behind the field, with some good scores on the leaderboard already. Second round the wind speed and fast greens were back but I was still playing fairly well. Holed out from 154 yards on the 7th for Eagle but I utterly choked the putts from there. Just pars and bogies from there for a +2, level thru 36. I'd have killed for that prior so all-in-all pretty happy. For anyone who didn't practice Evangelist and goes well on their first round expecting more of the same from the course, be very wary. Remarkable, actually finished with two 68s for -4 and -15 for Q School. Putting was dreadful throughout, should have been five under through the first five. Thankfully I kept the 3-4 putts to one or two holes max per round. A second fairway hole out from 131y and an Eagle from the bunker on the drivable par 4 kept me going through some painful birdie attempts in the final round. Can't wait for whatever Tour I end up in, missed cuts incoming!

Well that was a rollercoaster. How can a silly little virtual golf game get me so nervous? Pissed around missing greens and putts in rd 1 and 2 but kept the bogeys and doubles off my card to shoot pretty well. (-6 then -7). Then felt good in rd 3 nailling putt after putt to shoot a 59 (-11). My best round on the game never mind course. At this point i was feeling good about my chances of getting platinum. Cruised home the final round dodging major trouble shooting a 66. Just 3 bogeys and no doubles i was pretty proud of, as the xbox tempo is brutal to say the least. -28 total for the event and -51 total. I will take that and run! 💪 Have fun out there folks 😃 Good luck #teamxbox

I kind of get the criticism of the out of bounds and water hazards with this course, 14 especially is very harsh with that huge run off, but at the end of the day we know it's there, don't hit it there! I got a bit bored of the fairway bunkers at 290 but I suppose it's to be expected of the tougher QSchool course? Ignoring what you like and don't like about the strategy, the course is immaculately designed and certainly a challenge! I've played two. Everyone seems to see the first round as the scorable one, that one was NOT set up for my game! Started with a birdie at 2 but gave it back with a poor bogey at 3 and then hit the water off the drive on 4 to score a double. Back foot straight away. Scrapped and battled from there but I always struggle on slow greens, every time I did give myself a chance I left it infuriatingly short. Pars and a couple of bogies until I reached 17 where I miraculously curled in a 40 foot putt up and over a hill, that brought a smile. And then this on 18 brought a bigger one.. Straight in to round 2 with a bit of cheer after that, played a bit better than the first and kept doubles off the card despite again hitting water at one point. I've left a few out there on the greens in these first two but overall, not too unhappy. 72 and 70 for +2 and now -7 for the whole thing. Aim from here is to get to -10, but at the very least to stay under par. Just didn't quite click tonight, tomorrow is another day!

I think I misunderstood the rules, I thought it was closest to +99 without going over so I posted a +98. Wanted to post +20 on Whiskey Dunes to have enough room for the next adventure, ended up at +37. Ended up with a clutch double bogey on the last hole to at least give me a one-in-a-several thousand chance of maybe earning a pity card. I love, love, love Whiskey Dunes, I hate The Evangelist with a white-hot passion that, in golf, I can only summon for Patrick Reed. I understand the concept of template holes, and have enjoyed researching the various types, but on this course too many well-executed shots get severely penalized to be anywhere near pleasurable. The concept of center-line bunkering is solid enough, but not literally the exact center of every hole. I started aiming for them in rounds 3 and 4 when the Xbox tempo gods decided to take over and there was no possible way to get close to perfect tempo so I was safe in most cases. Throw some bunkers to somewhere off-center and you get some strategy happening. I could design a course with 18 Redan greens and see how pleasurable it is to everyone. Pro tip: On 14, the hole with the very unfortunate OB in light rough short of the "road", if you clang your shot off the roof the grandstand it will bounce on the green and gently roll down into the light rough short of the OB stakes. Anyway, looking forward to the season and working my way up from Q-school next week.

-15/-8/-11/-9 = -43 and -89 overall.
Had just about everyone covered but 14 did me in R4. Put it OB with my only red slow of the event and then had my only 3-putt from 11’ for triple lol.

I’ll have to admit that I found it amusing that a guy who shoots +61 at Evangelist says “too many well-executed shots are punished,” and literally the next guy that posts shoots -43.
Real talk: you may hate the course, and that’s okay, but how many well-executed shots did you hit to shoot +61?

A few fun facts from my 4 rounds on Evangelist: - Even par on the outward have but was over par (+5) on just one round.
- 5th hole was my friend (-6 with 2 eagles, 2 birdies).
- 8th hole was happy with 4 straight pars.
- +20 on the inward half, did manage one round NOT over par.
- Only 2 holes over double bogey (7 on par 3 3rd in round 2; 9 on par 5 16th round 4). Will see if those 4 strokes keep me between tours.
Right now my +8 has me at the top of CC-F. will be interesting (to me anyway) what movement happens from here to Saturday.
Onward!

Real talk: you may hate the course, and that’s okay, but how many well-executed shots did you hit to shoot +61? I could jokingly say "a lot, but they were all severely penalized" but of course that wouldn't be realistic. I just think that if one hits a green without ridiculous speed or spin that, while the ball doesn't necessarily have to hold the green, should at least not result in having to replay the shot. I watched your 4-man stream (btw, really enjoy your stream) before the round where you were warning against shots hitting the "wrong" side of the green and rolling without resistance either into the water or the OB. I readily admit that aesthetically I dislike most courses dominated by sand so that is likely part of the frustration I will have to play some of your other courses you've designed, I'm sure I can find some more to my liking.

3 rounds done and figured I call it as I could feel me losing focus. First round was all over the map. Birds from bunkers and chip ins. One stupid double but made birdie on 16 and 17 to shoot -1. 2nd round much more steady and managed to bore my way to E. Round 3 played pretty solid, proud of my bogey free back nine to shoot -2
So that puts me -3 for the week and E for Qschool. Happy with where I am, even tho they expanded I have an internal competition with my self to finish inside the original 1450. Think I will watch some football and finish her up tomorrow. This course has really grown on me, I love the strategy involved and the mixed tees keeps it fun.
Cheers!
